Violence, Instability, Torture and Deaths in Libya

October 9th, 2013

by Stephen Lendman

Wherever America shows up, mass slaughter, destruction, instability and human misery follow.

Today's Libya reflects Washington's deplorable legacy. North Africa's most developed country was ravaged and destroyed. Anarchical charnel house conditions replaced it.

Disinformation.com listed 16 things Libyans lost. They include:

(1) free electricity

(2) interest free loans from state-owned banks

(3) homes considered a human right

Der Spiegel Interviews Assad

October 9th, 2013

by Stephen Lendman

He called insurgents terrorists. He did so justifiably. He said Western countries lie. He's defending Syrian sovereignty, he stressed. More on what he said below.

He deplores war. He wants peaceful conflict resolution. He's defending Syria against foreign invaders. They're extremist insurgents.

He voluntarily agreed to eliminate Syria's chemical weapons. International inspectors arrived last week. Syria's working cooperatively with them to destroy its CW stockpile. According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov: "Throughout all these weeks since the moment Syria joined the Chemical Weapons Convention Damascus (it) has faultlessly cooperated with international inspectors."

The Fix is In. The Revolution is Coming.‏

October 9th, 2013

By Timothy V. Gatto

The Republicans are against any government healthcare plan run by the government. They abhor Medicare, Social Security and anything else that places money in the hands of Americans. This is a fact, not conjecture. I can't understand why any person from the Middle Class or those on the poverty class would support these people. They work for the rich and they always have.

Let's look at the way they have governed. The one that really threw the Middle Class overboard was Ronald Reagan. He was probably the most detrimental President this nation has ever had. Every time I hear a democrat praise Ronald Reagan I get sick to my stomach. This is the guy that destroyed the Unions and gave us the "trickle-down" economic theory that so many pus-brained Republicans still believe in. Obama gives lip service to this dead Presidential creep.

An example of how the surveillance state is hurting the U.S. economy: Ladar Levison confirms that he will be forced to move his business overseas

October 8th, 2013

via chycho

In a sign of things to come for the U.S. tech industry, Ladar Levison, the owner of Lavabit, the secure private encrypted email provider that shut down after 10 years of operation (2, 3) because he decided not to abide by the demands made by the United States government to spy on their 400,000 plus users, explains that if he loses his case against the U.S. government he will most likely hand over his company to someone overseas and let them run it. It’s important to note that the U.S. government already new that this would be the end result, that revelations about NSA’s PRISM program would hurt American Technology companies, but they didn’t really care.

Levison clarifies his position in the following interview on Democracy Now!. The segment in which he makes these comments occurs at approximately the 11 minute mark, but the whole interview is well worth watching, especially the part just before these comments where he explains how the U.S. government is “remotely loading malware onto people’s computers without any kind of restriction, restraint or oversight.”

Baffling Boehner - Who owns this guy?

October 8th, 2013

Michael Collins
The Speaker of the United States House of Representatives has the power to end the government shutdown and avoid the U.S. entering into default on October 17. Speaker John Boehner refuses to exercise that power. Why? Who will save us?

There's only one thing worse than a system of governance rife with corruption. That's a system of governance totally infused with ideology. At least in a corrupt or semi-corrupt system like ours, there's the possibility that someone or a group of some means can buy the right decision from key legislators.

The Two-Party System is a Farce

October 8th, 2013

From: Timothy Gatto

Everybody knows that this so-called government shutdown is bullshit. Everybody knows who the actors are and everybody knows why they are doing the things they are doing. The insane chatter on MSNBC,CNN and all the other networks is just crap to keep us on edge. The Government is not going to default on the 17th and everyone knows it.

If the Government does default or gets close to defaulting, the President could use the 14th Amendment to issue an Executive Order to keep the government running and stop any default. The Fourth part of the 14th Amendment states:

Section 4. The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned. But neither the United States nor any State shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void.

Is the Federal Government a Drug-Induced Hallucination?‏‏

October 8th, 2013

By David Swanson

You laugh, but that could be a side-effect. Consider:

The Capitol Police just murdered an unarmed mother fleeing her car on foot, declared her child "unharmed," and received the longest standing-ovation in Congress since Osama bin Laden's Muslim sea burial. Try holding your breath until Congress takes the standing ovation back, and you'll wish your were in the "Holy Land" having your house sprayed with "Skunk" artificial sewage by the Israeli military or in Old Town Alexandria tasting the air of the authentic raw sewage across the river until it's "treated" and spread on farms in the exurbs for the benefit of we the people.

Why? Because freedom.

America in Search of Navigational Change

October 8th, 2013

Dr. Mahboob A. Khawaja

“The United States of America have exhibited, perhaps, the first example of governments erected on the simple principles of nature; and if men are now sufficiently enlightened to disabuse themselves of artifice, imposture, hypocrisy, and superstition, they will consider this event as an era in their history. It will never be pretended that any persons employed in that service [forming the U.S. government] had interviews with the gods, or were in any degree under the influence of Heaven, more than those at work upon ships or houses, or laboring in merchandise or agriculture; it will forever be acknowledged that these governments were contrived merely by the use of reason and the senses. Thirteen governments [of the original states] thus founded on the natural authority of the people alone, without a pretence of miracle or mystery are a great point gained in favor of the rights of mankind” John Adams, A Defense of the Constitutions of Government of the United States of America, 1787-88:

Healthcare Solution: Eliminate the Middleman.

October 8th, 2013

"Tony Soldo"

Obamacare is not socialized medical Heathcare, it is Capitalized Heathcare.

Obamacare will increase the profits of all healthcare corporations, with insurance companies being the biggest winner.

Every single person will become an unwilling consumer of health insurance.

This is a Capitalist's dream come true.

The simplest and best solution to the healthcare issue is a Nationalized, Single Payer Health Care system, NHS.

Wall Street Bosses Run America

October 8th, 2013

by Stephen Lendman

They're more powerful than standing armies. What they say goes. They decide policy. They rule the world. They do it by controlling money, credit and debt.

They manipulate markets for self-enrichment. Grand theft is official Wall Street policy. Government officials wink, nod, and permit the grandest of grand larceny to persist.

Financial giants recycle their executives in and out of Washington. They strip-mine economies for profit. They buy politicians like toothpaste. Whatever they want they get.

They do it at the expense of government of, by and for everyone equitably and just.

On October 2, 15 financial lords met with Obama. They did so at the White House. They gave him their marching orders.

They came to assert their demands. They're uncompromising. They're ruthless. They want business as usual continued. They want more than ever.
