Capitol Hll Rally Mocks Political Speech Rights for Corporations

On Friday, January 21, 2011, activists with the “Movement for the People” staged a “ceremony” despite a wind chill index of 14 degrees, on the east side of the U.S. Capitol. It mocked the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision, “Citizens United.” This pro-Big Business verdict held that corporations, under the First Amendment to the Constitution, can be permitted to make contributions for the benefit a candidate in an election, as part of their “political speech rights,” as if they were a person.
