Serious revolutionary political struggle is an ongoing, long and protracted affair - spanning many years - and it does not lend itself to romanticism. By the same token, it is extremely important to understand the role of various women and men freedom fighters who were trail blazers in this continuing struggle for justice, equality, and human rights in the United States and throughout the world. It is our consciously and clearly understood past that serves to gird us for the present and future struggles.
The corporate media endeavors, on virtually every level, to keep the masses of people dangerously ignorant of the reality of what is actually occurring contemporarily, as well as what transpired in the distant and not-so-distant past. Corporate media obfuscation and disinformation is the order of the day. In the not-so-distant past, the Black Panther Party represented stalwart resistance to such obfuscation and disinformation, and today its very legacy continues to stand as a beacon of unequivocal opposition to corporate media manipulation and misinformation.

He's home. He arrived on February 18 at 2:30AM Caracas time. He announced his arrival via Twitter.
"I have returned to the Venezuelan homeland," he said. "Thank God!! Thank you beloved people! I will continue the treatment here."
Separately he thanked Fidel and Raul Castro. He praise Cuba's superb medical providers. "We will live and we will overcome," he said.
Fidel Castro wished him well on departure. He said in part:

Multiple previous P5+1 talks were held. America manipulated them to fail. So did Israel covertly. Western nations were pressured to go along.
On February 26, new talks will be held in Almaty, Kazahhstan. Expect no more this time than earlier.
It bears repeating. Tehran's nuclear program isn't at issue. It's red herring cover for imperial aims. It's the oil, stupid, and regional dominance.
Iran's sovereignty stands in the way. Its program is peaceful. It complies with NPT provisions. World leaders know it. So do IAEA inspectors.
Washington targets all independent governments. It wants pro-Western puppet ones replacing them. It invents reasons to do so. It operates extrajudicially in defiance of rule of law principles.

He's an ultranationalist extremist. He represents the worst of Israel's lunatic right-wing fringe. He matches Netanyahu's zealotry. He out-Sharon's Sharon.
He's a latter day Kahanist. In 1988, Israel outlawed his Kach party. It was the first Jewish organization in decades to be called a "threat to national security."
It's resurrected writ large. Lieberman represents Israel's true face. He and majority Israeli hardliners reflect a cancer in the body politic. They're an abomination. They consider Muslims subhuman. They deplore democratic freedoms.
They prioritize persecution, violence and state terror. They legitimize institutionalized racism. They practice it in its worst form. They promote Arab hatred. They spurn rule of law principles.
Lieberman belongs in prison, not government. He's partly sidelined. He's been investigated for years. In August 2009, police gave prosecutors clear evidence of fraud, bribery, money laundering, embezzlement, and obstructing justice.

The National Salvation Front (NSF) is the main entity encompassing opposition to the Islamists in Egypt. It often projects itself as a united and homogenous body. However, a closer look into it suggests a heterogeneous group comprising cacophonic components that are only united by their hostility to Islamists.
Indeed, what makes an odd couple like Nasserist Hamdeen Sabbahi and ultra-libertarian Mohamed ElBaradei coalesce in one front, other than their sullen hostility to the Muslim Brotherhood? In fact, ElBaradei's declared philosophy has more to do with Miltonian political philosophy and the Areopagitica than with Islam or Nasserism. His undeclared ideas could be too exotic and anomalous if judged according to the general principles of Islam.

Things aren't as good as they seem. Dire economic conditions masquerade as sound. Media scoundrels twist reality.
Big Lies proliferate. Repetition convinces most people hard times are good or not as bad as their personal situations suggest.
Wall Street manipulators transformed America into an unprecedented money making racket. Business models prioritize grand theft. Money is made by stealing it.
Government officials collude at the highest federal, state and local levels. They're well rewarded for going along. Who said crime doesn't pay?

February 14 marked the second anniversary of Bahrain's uprising. Earlier protests erupted sporadically.
In mid-February 2011, major ones did nonviolently. They continue virtually daily. At issue is King Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa's tyranny.
Bahrainis want democratic change, sectarian Shia discrimination ended, equitable distribution of state wealth, political prisoners released, and state terrorism stopped.
They want fundamental freedoms. They want popularly elected leaders replacing Al-Khalifa rule. It's despotic, ruthless and intolerable. State terrorism is policy.

Issawiya is a Jerusalem area Arab village. It's located on Mount Scopus. It's 2.5 km east of the Green Line. It's three km northeast of Jerusalem's Old City.
It's close to Hebrew University. It straddles Jerusalem's border. It's surrounded by Israeli settlements and military outposts.
Its 2006 population was 12,000. After Israel's 1967 Six Day War, Israel took control. Issawiya faced annexation and division. Thousands of dunums were confiscated.
Today's reality confines residents to 600 dunums. It's a fraction of Issawiya's original size. Israel used stolen land for settlements, expanding greater Jerusalem, commercial development, Jews-only roads, and planned E1 area construction.

History is commonly regarded as an attempt to produce a structured account of the past. It proclaims to tell us what really happened, but in most cases it fails to do that. Instead it is set to conceal our shame, to hide those various elements, events, incidents and occurrences in our past which we cannot cope with. History, therefore, can be regarded as a system of concealment. Accordingly, the role of the true historian is similar to that of the psychoanalyst: both aim to unveil the repressed. For the psychoanalyst, it is the unconscious mind. For the historian, it is our collective shame.

The ongoing Malian crisis looks quite minor when compared with far more tragic crises plaguing other part of the world. Yet, we have seen France, with the solid backing of the international community, embark on a bloody crusade to dislodge Islamist fighters from the sub-Saharan African country.
To be sure, the Islamist fighters in that region, particularly those affiliated with al Qaeda, are not quite sinless. However, it is sufficiently clear that whatever evil these people have or may have committed pales into insignificance when contrasted against the genocidal atrocities and injustices taking place in countries such as Myanmar, Syria and occupied Palestine.
