Deplorable NYT Lying About Russia

June 13th, 2017

Stephen Lendman

Despite no evidence of Russian interference in last year’s US presidential election, America’s intelligence community and supportive media scoundrels keep repeating the Big Lie - including the NYT, a longstanding press agent for wealth, power and privilege.

A weekend op-ed asked “Is Putin getting what he wanted with Trump?” It quoted Comey’s Big Lie when asked during his Senate Intelligence Committee testimony if he had any doubt about Russian interference.

“None,” he responded, adding Moscow “did it with purpose. They did it with sophistication. They did it with overwhelming technical efforts. They will be back. They are coming after America.”

What he left unsaid is not a shred of evidence supports his accusation, or anyone else’s in Washington, or any scoundrel media reports repeating it.

It’s entirely baseless, part of endless Russia bashing, along with efforts to denigrate and weaken Trump, aiming to replace him with a more easily controlled puppet like Pence.

Obama, Bush/Cheney, the Clintons and their predecessors were chosen to continue dirty business as usual - Trump pursuing the same agenda yet denigrated anyway.

The Times: “Doubtless Vladimir Putin continues to derive satisfaction from having assaulted American democracy and embarrassed Hillary Clinton. But the Russian president had one paramount priority: to lift Western sanctions.”

Fact: Utter rubbish! Putin “assaulted” nothing. “American democracy” is pure fantasy. Hillary “embarrassed” herself.

Fact: Sanctions helped Russia, made it less dependent on the West economically, caused no political or military harm, strengthened its alliance with China and other nations.

Fact: Washington shot itself in the foot by imposing sanctions, along with breaching international law by acting without Security Council authorization.

The Times: “President Putin isn’t winning. (He’s) on a losing streak.”

Fact: The Times repeated the long ago discredited “Russian aggression” in Ukraine canard.

Fact: The broadsheet criticized Putin’s responsible intervention in Syria at the behest of its government - perhaps in the end defeating Washington’s imperial aim to replace Assad with a pro-Western puppet.

The Times: “Russia needs to pay a significant price for its cyberwarfare against the United States and other adversaries need to be deterred.”

“Mr. Putin’s…longer-term grand strategy…consists of hoping that the West weakens or even collapses, and helping that dissolution along. The stakes couldn’t be higher.”

Fact: Russia seeks normalized relations with all nations, including America. The absurd claims above are pure nonsense - Big Lies.

The Times: “The (phony) collusion story is ultimately a sideshow. What’s consequential is the tale of Russia’s penetration of Trumpworld in order to try to influence United States policy.”

No responsible editors would touch this type rubbish. Times editors feature it, mocking legitimate journalism, absent on its pages.

The op-ed commentator is extremist Princeton history professor Stephen Kotkin, a right-wing Hoover Institution fellow.

Princeton students are well advised avoid his courses - if they want to learn real history, not his distorted version.
