Kerry Bullying, Bluster and Big Lies

April 27th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

A previous article called Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov a world class diplomat. John Kerry is polar opposite. He represents the worst of America's dark side.

He's vying for Washington's worst ever Secretary of State top dishonor. He's what Paul Craig Roberts calls a "two-bit punk."

He's a war criminal multiple times over. Demagoguery punctuates his comments. It exceeds the worst of Cold War rhetoric. He's been caught red-handed numerous times in bald-faced lies.

He disdains rule of law principles. He supports war. He deplores peace. He's indifferent to human suffering. He's a monument to wrong over right.

Irresponsible RT International Bashing

April 27th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

RT International (formerly Russia Today) represents the best of responsible news, commentary and analysis.

John Kerry lied saying "the propaganda bullhorn that is the state-sponsored Russia Today program, has been deployed to promote - actually, Russia Today network - has deployed to promote President Putin's fantasy about what is playing out on the ground."

"They almost spend full time devoted to this effort to propagandize and to distort what is happening or not happening in Ukraine."

RT justifiably demands an apology. Its Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan said Kerry "refuse(s) to recognize facts that he doesn't like and makes such ungrounded accusations."

Slavyansk Braces for Onslaught

April 27th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

It could happen any time. Kiev putschists said "second stage" operations were launched. Strategy calls for "completely isolat(ing)" Slavyansk.

It's a freedom fighting stronghold. Self-defense forces prepared. Coop-appointed presidential administration head Sergey Pashinsky said:

"The aim is to…localize the problem." Operations remain ongoing. Pashinsky lied saying "terrorists have placed their key strong points in kindergartens and hospitals."

He called what doesn't exist "classic terrorism." Freedom fighters denounced him. They called his accusations "ridiculous."

Profile of a World Class Diplomat

April 27th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov stands out. He shames his US and EU counterparts.

He's a true peace champion. His efforts in Syria and Ukraine alone represent the best of peaceful conflict resolution efforts.

He tirelessly pursues them. He's done it despite continuing US-led Western imperial adventurism.

He most of all deserves Nobel Peace Prize recognition. War criminals most often get it. Obama is Exhibit A. Nobel committee members believe war is peace.

On April 23, RT International's Sophie Shevardnadze interviewed him at length. His comments on Ukraine were incisive, straightforward and important.

Kerry's Conundrum - Time for Truth on Ukraine

April 26th, 2014

timefortruth2

No amount of propaganda will hide the truth… John Kerry, April 24, 2014

Secretary of State Kerry may have a point about the truth. Despite the best efforts of the administration and corporate media, the lies about the attack on Libya have been exposed. The Arab Spring movement against Gaddafi was violent from the start and the "no fly" zone served as the flimsiest of pretenses for NATO's alliance with the Al Qaeda infested rebels. Kerry's absolute certainty in blaming the chemical weapons attack in Syria on government forces has been exposed as well. Investigative reporting by Seymour Hersh and scientific findings showed that Kerry's bombastic assurances were based on weak evidence. There was no certainty. Internet For The Wealthy On The Way Unless We Stop It

April 26th, 2014

By Kevin Zeese

Take Action Today: Immediate mobilization required to save open Internet

In what the New York Times describes as “a net neutrality turnaround” the Obama administration’s new FCC chairman is proposing rules that will create an Internet for the wealthy. The new plan to create a pay to play Internet came to light Wednesday in the Wall Street Journal.

To take action click here.

Under the plan wealthy corporations will be able to purchase faster service, while those that cannot do so will have slower service. Rather than an open Internet for all the US will be moving to a class-based Internet. Of course, this will mean that when Netflix and other corporations purchase faster Internet, the consumers who use their service will be paying more to watch movies and download information. As a result, more money will be funneled from working Americans to wealthy telecom giants.

Obama Threatens Russia and China

April 26th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Obama represents the worst of rogue leadership. He's a war criminal multiple times over. He threatens world peace.

On Wednesday, he arrived in Tokyo. It's the first leg of his Asian tour. South Korea, Malaysia and the Philippines follow.

He noticeably snubbed China. He reassured Tokyo saying relations with Beijing won't come "at the expense of Japan or any other ally."

At issue is advancing regional hegemony. It's targeting Russia and China. Obama heightened US/Beijing tensions, saying:

"The policy of the United States is clear. The Senkaku islands are administered by Japan and therefore fall within the scope of Article 5 of the US-Japan Treaty of Mutual Cooperation and Security."

American Democracy Now An Oligarchy

April 25th, 2014

Joel S. Hirschhorn

History has been made. But few Americans are aware of it or angry about it. I say: Wake up Americans. A war has been waged against US democracy, from the inside. Time to pick a side and fight back.

If you are not totally brain dead, distracted by pain or pleasure, or consumed by narcissistic obsessions, face the ugly, painful truth.

Republicans with political power in Congress and the states and, even more appallingly, on the Supreme Court have succeeded in turning their beloved republic into a-money-buys-power oligarchy. One person, one vote was the enemy and it is being defeated. One dollar, one vote is the new Republican political value. American democracy is more delusional than ever. To think otherwise is even more delusional.

I present three arguments supporting the conclusion that there has been a conversion of US democracy into something worse than a plutocracy. Political power is more dependent on money than ever before.

Wall Street Greed: Not Too Big for a California Jury

April 24th, 2014

by Ellen Brown

Sixteen of the world’s largest banks have been caught colluding to rig global interest rates. Why are we doing business with a corrupt global banking cartel?

United States Attorney General Eric Holder has declared that the too-big-to-fail Wall Street banks are too big to prosecute. But an outraged California jury might have different ideas. As noted in the California legal newspaper The Daily Journal:

California juries are not bashful – they have been known to render massive punitive damages awards that dwarf the award of compensatory (actual) damages. For example, in one securities fraud case jurors awarded $5.7 million in compensatory damages and $165 million in punitive damages. . . . And in a tobacco case with $5.5 million in compensatory damages, the jury awarded $3 billion in punitive damages . . .

Kiev Declares War

April 24th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

In mid-April, CIA director John Brennan went to Kiev. He did so quietly. He held secret talks. He met with Obama's new friends.

He came to plot war strategy. He wants Eastern Ukrainian freedom fighters eliminated. He wants them slaughtered in cold blood.

He wants challengers to Washington's imperium crushed. After his visit, coup-appointed president Okeksandr Turchynov announced a northern Donetsk region "anti-terrorist operation."

To "protect the citizens of Ukraine," he claimed. To be conducted "stage-by-stage," he added. So-called "terrorists" are committe freedom fighters.

They're Ukraine's best and bravest. They're putting their bodies on the line courageously. They're doing it for fundamental rights everyone deserves.

On April 19, Turchynov declared an Easter truce. Straightaway he broke it. He violated agreed on four-party conflict resolution terms.
