Note: This is not an argument that claims religious belief is bad or wrong; rather it is time for the world to get savvy to just how much humans and societies create religious meaning for their own ends.
No religion is infallible—especially since it is always the case that it is we, mere humans, who argue, and attempt to persuade others as to what are religious values and doctrines (including the manifestation of religious scriptures which too are recorded by us humans using human languages).
Equally religious beliefs and values evolve, change, and re-evolve like so much of human culture. There is no reason to believe the last word has been spoken or prophesied regarding religions in general (historical or so claimed). Every age has its own interpretations on Holy Healthy inspiration.
The primary premise for the creation of the modern state of Israel in Palestine is based on an ethnocentric and religio-centric belief that one particular supernatural God-force gave a certain amount of terrestrial property to a particular ‘chosen’ people (for eternity).This is a delusion that has turned into a criminal delusion, and more and more into a genocidal delusion and it needs to be addressed.

“A delusion is an unshakable belief in something that’s untrue. The belief isn’t a part of the person’s culture or subculture, and almost everyone else knows this belief to be false.”
However, here it is argued that even a cultural belief, such as a cultural religious belief, can equally be delusional—and moreover, this delusion is having an enormity of dire consequences world-wide.
Therefore, even if it is mostly true that the professions of psychiatry, psychology and theology, history, etc., have generally avoided debating the sanity and consequences of religious issues, other than to accede to clichés that if someone in the modern age thinks he or she is a deity, or a second coming of Jesus, etc., then that particular person claiming to be Jesus-come-lately is so delusioned; while leaving alone the question of New Testament scriptures making claims to original Jesus was God in Jerusalem 2000 years ago (solely based on faith).
Cleveland Clinic website also says:
“People with delusional disorder often continue to socialize and function well, apart from the subject of their delusion. Generally, they don’t behave in an odd or unusual manner. This is unlike people with other psychotic disorders, who might also have delusions as a symptom. In some cases, however, people with delusional disorder might become so preoccupied with their delusions that their lives are disrupted.”
And not only can a society be delusional, that society, or ethnicity, can be harming and disrupting others as well—such as actively and deliberately engaging in the genocide of another people (which entail a long history of abuse).
Note that some people are institutionalized not just because they become a threat to themselves but also a threat to others.
It is hard to imagine ‘institutionalizing’ an entire people, or society, but the world body, we the 99%, cannot deny that when any people make claim to any terrestrial territory based on rumors of Supernatural decree—this self-serving kind of religious belief needs to be called out for what it is: a scam of property theft against gullible believers.
Why would a universal and gracious supernatural deity favor one people and one ethnicity over all others (or for that matter one species over another)? Only by some kind of favoritism—but under what kind of bully, mafioso mentality?
The real historical nature, or natural science, reality of this world is that all species of creation competes for land and resources against all other creatures; as human societies have competed for land masses since mankind, as we know mankind, as existed.
And it is important to understand what we think we know about the nature of mankind can only be inferred by studying written literature.
Still, all manner of competition has been utilized throughout history such as cooperation, war, legal arguments, and religious arguments, etc. And note too there is a heavy history of ‘warfare’ and psychological warfare in our Homo sapient species (which is undeniable).
The state of Palestine has an exceedingly long history of peoples migrating in and out and elsewhere—hundreds of thousands if not millions of years.

Such individuals seem to think this planet earth, with its trillion fossil finds, was created a mere 4000 or 5000 years ago because that is what they have been led to believe via their religious indoctrination.

The lasting effect of indoctrination should not be exaggerated.”
Especially it is important to realize the majority of children are indoctrinated into their handed down religious beliefs before they have developed critical thinking skills.

According to Jean Piaget, famous Swiss psychologist who pioneered the field of child cognitive development, critical thinking skills are mastered around the age of 15 or 16—a far cry after many children are hammered with all manner of religious doctrine, story-tale, and conflictual psycho-trauma (like the idea of eternal torture in hell) or equally secular scientific dogma (like one version of climate science is beyond question).
We note then there are several types of delusional disorder listed in the Cleveland Clinic article, but three seem to pertain to some Zionists and Israelis:
“Grandiose: People with this type of delusional disorder have an overinflated sense of self-worth, power, knowledge or identity. They may believe they have a great talent or have made an important discovery.”
“Jealous: People with this type of delusional disorder believe that their spouse or sexual partner is unfaithful without any concrete evidence.”
“Persecutory: People with this type of delusional disorder believe someone or something is mistreating, spying on or attempting to harm them (or someone close to them). People with this type of delusional disorder may make repeated complaints to legal authorities.”
[Note: This is not to suggest other peoples are equally vulnerable to delusions and delusional thought patterns. We all are. But we are not all currently engaged in manipulated a mass media into believing in the Hamas atrocities versus Israeli humanity and willingness to compromise.]
To expect the entire world go along with this Israeli / American ‘facilitated’ genocide and land grab, killing the inhabitants who have lived there in Palestine for thousands of years? Are people really that obtuse?

Granted there are legitimate arguments religious hostility was stated reasons for war when the real objectives were otherwise, still the alliances rallied around religious groupings.
Europeans should know that various Christian sects were killing other sects such as Protestants against Catholics, etc. Much of England’s or Great Brittian’s history is tied up with Roman Catholic invasion of previous pagan religious practices way back for many centuries.
Religious belief dominated so much of human activity, and various Christian religions were haunted and horrified by the belief of a real possibility of dying and suffering excruciating eternity in tortuous hell (which is one main reason they took their religious beliefs and practices so seriously—one could not afford to be wrong at the time of death due to nightmare of conditioning).
Therefore on an energized focusing on a psychology and a politics of religions is a big and broad subject, encyclopedic, but it needs to be done because religions, like everything human, can be exploited to take advantage of peoples, both believers and nonbelievers. But what if some conniving clown, or a gaggle of colluding cardinals decided to create a new version of religion, in which God said they had ownership of 10% of every bank account in a particular country, or the entire world for that matter, and this tax is incumbent upon all those who have bank accounts to hand over their dues?

But now what if a new and elaborate religion or cult was spinning, irrespective of forming from old cloth, around a similar concept, surveilling electronic bank accounts, and even if others did not agree with these cardinals’ doctrine, they still found the means and ways to enforce their ownership of others’ wealth anyway?
Who then is going to question whether God really made such a determination? And even if some did, and resisted, those cardinals might still have the means and ways to get their money anyway.
Should the rest of the world go along with such an exploitive idea because some claim God Almighty himself decreed it to be so—even if not an ancient edict?
There will always be those who love strong men who twist arms and demand subservience, aftercall many are frustrated and feeling impotent.
Or how about that a certain ethnic group of people have the right to access to all the women of another ethic group in their vicinity—as equally announced to be decreed by a great and powerful God?
Is this to be taken as heavenly worthy of worship and tolerance by those who have no such access?
Therefore one real question all should be asking is why would a supposedly other-worldly, supernatural God, or Yahweh, be focused on providing land, animals, fertile soil, water, milk and honey, wealth such as gold and silver, women, slaves, etc. and leadership roles to one particular ethnic group of people in the first place (when clearly surrounded by a dozen other tribes of people equally desiring and competing for the same resources)?

Why would such a God command one ethnic group to slaughter other various Canaanite tribes in that one particular part of the world and take their land? Now not milk and honey or bees but rather calculated starvations and water starvation.

But if you actually analyze the Bible from a point of view of psychology, ethics, and politics there is little that is really holy, or worthy, morally speaking, in this tome!
At best, although somewhat a supercilious judgment, this is a low-brow religion if ever there was one.

And so then, this is why it is beyond high time for academic disciplines of political science, psychology, theology, history (a most bastardized discipline), and whatever other appropriate disciplines need to study as objectively as possible, the psychology and the politics of religions—because if religion is one thing, especially in relation to the three Abrahamic religions, it is the application of power (politics) and mind manipulation (psychology) to motivate human behavior and control thought.
Can you say multi-disciplinary study?
Equally this is why the real world of politics and political bodies such as the United Nations and European Union equally need to step in and identify the problems inherent in these religions themselves.
There is promise. New forms of theological studies are evolving.
