Nikki Haley: An Embarrassment as US UN Envoy

August 30th, 2017

Stephen Lendman

It’s hard imagining why Trump chose her for the diplomatic post. The former South Carolina governor knows little about geopolitics. Her over-the-top remarks show it.

Her extremist rants are an embarrassment to the position she holds. Trump should replace her with someone qualified for the job.

She’s ideologically extremist like numerous other neocons infesting Washington. On her first day on the job, she warned US allies and adversaries alike - provocatively saying “(y)ou're going to see a change in the way we do business.”

“Our goal with the administration is to show value at the UN, and the way we'll show value is to show our strength, show our voice, have the backs of our allies and make sure our allies have our back as well.”

“For those who don’t have our back, we're taking names. We will make points to respond to that accordingly.”

At the time, I said she sounds like neocon Samantha Power on steroids. Her loose tongue is no way to foster good international relations.

She’s militantly anti-sovereign independent nations. In April, she said “(w)e don’t see a peaceful Syria with Assad in there.”

On August 21, she repeated the long ago discredited canard, irresponsibly blaming him for the 2013 Ghouta CW attack.

It was conducted by US-supported terrorists, toxic agents likely supplied by Saudi Arabia, delivered cross-border from Turkey to elements responsible for using them.

Haley falsely accused Assad of “murder(ing) more than 1,400 Syrians” in Ghouta. The figure was a CIA exaggeration.

A Syrian human rights group reported 502 deaths, Doctors Without Borders 355, and France 281 - killed by US-supported terrorists, not Assad.

False accusations against US enemies repeat with disturbing regularity.

Haley: Assad continues “his reign of terror and has continued to use chemical weapons in his attacks against his own people.”

“The world was horrified when, on April 4, Syrian aircraft dropped sarin gas on the town of Khan Sheikhoun, killing as many as 100 people and injuring hundreds more, many of them children.”

What happened was a false flag, wrongfully blamed on Damascus. No CW attack occurred, just phony videos and other fabrications, creating the appearance of something that didn’t happen.

No evidence suggests area residents were victims of toxic sarin or any other CW. None sought medical treatment.

Nothing proves an attack actually occurred, just unverified reports claiming one.

In early August, US and UK-made CWs were found in liberated Syrian areas - supplied to ISIS and al-Nusra terrorists.

They were produced at the US Federal Laboratories and NonLethal Technologies, as well as Britain’s Cherming Defence.

On August 22, Reuters interviewed Haley. She’s militantly hostile to Iran like Trump and most others in Washington.

On Wednesday, she’s meeting with IAEA officials in Vienna, looking for pretexts for the Trump administration to refuse certification of Iran’s compliance with the nuclear deal - the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

She lied, saying “(i)f you look ... at past Iranian behavior, what you’ve seen is there have been covert actions at military sites, at universities, things like that.”

She wants Iranian military bases inspected. She wants what no NATO country would permit non-member states to do. America lets no other country inspect its military facilities.

The IAEA certified Iranian full compliance with JCPOA terms numerous times. Trump wants pretexts to decertify the deal, abrogating it, America alone pulling out of an international treaty.

He’s got no justification except fabricated reasons. Pulling out as expected in October would be a reckless act, creating greater regional destabilization than already.
