Macron Sworn in as French President

May 15th, 2017

Stephen Lendman

Far from a popular choice, his election was dubious, possibly rigged, discussed in a previous article - assuring continuity, not badly needed constructive change.

Falsely called fascist and other pejoratives, Western media savaged Le Pen. Her agenda explains why, wanting French sovereignty restored, ending control by Brussels, Berlin and Washington, including over its monetary and fiscal policy by exiting the euro straightjacket, the franc replacing it the way things used to be.

She opposes involvement in US-dominated NATO, supports improved relations with Russia - anathema notions to France’s establishment and other Western governments.

She supports worker rights and women’s rights. She opposes deplorable Hollande regime policies, ones Macron intends continuing, serving monied interests, opposing beneficial social change.

As Hollande’s economy minister, he imposed neoliberal harshness, harming working-class French citizens, including farmers, to enrich privileged ones more than already.[

He believes anything government does business does better so let it, endorsing greater privatizations for maximum profits over popular rights and needs.

Wanting more flexibility from unions for lower labor costs assures higher unemployment, not jobs creation as pledged. Like Trump, he supports corporate tax cuts, benefitting their bottom line, doing nothing to stimulate badly needed economic growth.

He wants government spending reduced, meaning less for vital social services. According to economist Raphael Brun-Aguerre, “(i)n his mind, the labor market is dysfunctional. Labor costs are too high, and you don’t have enough flexibility.”

He claims freeing business to operate by its own rules through local agreements with labor will stimulate economic growth and jobs creation, opposite of what’s likely to occur.

He represents the same failed agenda as Hollande, overwhelmingly despised, why he didn’t run for reelection.

Five long years lie ahead before French voters again elect a president. Globalist, former Rothschild banker Macron assures continuation of dirty business as usual - a boon for finance capital and war-profiters, a bust for ordinary French men, women and youths.
