Flashpoint in Syria Risks US War on Russia

Washington wants confrontation, not constructive dialogue with Russia. It continues adversarial relations over cooperative ones - Trump no different from his predecessors, a warrior, not a peacemaker.

Neocons controlling US geopolitical policies want endless wars, not peace, risking unthinkable nuclear war.

If reckless US policies aren’t curbed, it seems inevitable. Dangerous flashpoints persist in Ukraine, North Korea and Syria - Russia, China and Iran on America’s target list.

On Tuesday, Secretary of State Tillerson met with Sergey Lavrov and Vladimir Putin, his demand for Russia to abandon Assad rebuffed.

Deplorable bilateral relations persist, Trump worsening what he promised to improve. Commenting, Lavrov said “the current state in our relations regarding the global agenda is not calm, to say the least.”

“We have numerous problems, including those, which were left as action-delayed mines from the previous US administration.”

“We are being realistic and realize that in order to overcome such obstacles we will need to imply weighty efforts on condition that our US colleagues will meet them.”

Lavrov expressed hope for cooperation with America. “Russia is ready for that,” he said, knowing US hostility toward Moscow continues unrelenting.

The risk of eventual war between the world’s dominant nuclear powers remains ominously real. Russia’s good faith efforts to improve things can’t overcome Washington’s rage for dominance. Cooperation over confrontation defeats its imperial objectives.

Talks in Moscow accomplished little at best. America considers Russia its main adversary, standing in the way of its drive for Middle East and global hegemony, waging endless wars to achieve it, heading recklessly toward an eventual showdown with Moscow and Beijing.

Nothing in prospect looks positive. Further US aggression in Syria appears certain, false flag pretexts easy to orchestrate, blaming victims for US-sponsored crimes.

Ballistic missiles expert Theodore Postol commented on fabricated US intelligence claims about the April 4 Khan Sheikhoun CW attack, saying:

“I have reviewed (its) document carefully, and I believe it can be shown, without doubt, that the document does not provide any evidence that the US government has concrete knowledge that the government of Syria was the source of the (April 4) chemical attack…”

“(T)he report contains absolutely no evidence that this attack was the result of a munition being dropped from an aircraft.”

“(T)he most plausible conclusion is that the (toxic agent) was dispensed by an improvised dispersal device made from a 122 mm section of rocket tube filled with (a toxic agent) and capped on both sides.”

“(D)ata cited by the White House is more consistent with the possibility that the munition was placed on the ground rather than dropped from a plane.”

“Any competent analyst would have had questions about whether the debris in the crater was staged or real.”

“No competent analyst would miss the fact that the alleged (toxic agent) canister was forcefully crushed from above, rather than exploded by a munition within it.”

“We again have a situation where the White House has issued an obviously false, misleading and amateurish intelligence report.”

“What the country is now being told by the White House cannot be true, and the fact that this information has been provided in this format raises the most serious questions about the handling of our national security.”

Trump is a willing dupe, accepting willfully falsified claims about the April 4 CW incident. His aggression on Syria with virtually certain more to come based on new false flags risks war with Russia.

His first 100 days will best be remembered for instituting recklessly dangerous policies, risking nuclear war - potentially with Russia, China, Iran and North Korea.

The unthinkable is irresponsibly possible on his watch.
