Trust Between Russia and America Kaput

Candidate Trump said “Putin has done a really great job…I think I’d get along very well with” him…
“I have always felt that Russia and the United States should be able to work well with each other towards defeating terrorism and restoring world peace, not to mention trade and all of the other benefits derived from mutual respect.”
“…(T)here’s nothing I can think of that I’d rather do than have Russia friendly, as opposed to the way they are right now, so that we can go and knock out ISIS with other people.”
These and similar comments gave hope for improved bilateral relations under a Trump administration. Instead, things soured dramatically in short order on his watch.
He destroyed hopes for mutual trust and geopolitical cooperation. Chances for better US/Russia relations are nil.
Adversarial ones hit a new low, risking unthinkable confrontation between the world’s dominant nuclear powers.
Tillerson arrived in Moscow with an unacceptable agenda, demanding its government end support for Assad, cease its aerial operations combating terrorism.
He wants what he won’t get, convincing Russia to ally with Washington against Assad and Syrian sovereignty, an imperial agenda Putin rejects, saying ahead of his arrival in Moscow:
“(W)e see no further role for the Assad regime longer term.” He was “hope(ful)” Russia would “realign with the United States, with other Western countries” - and abandon Damascus and Tehran, despicably claiming its a choice between supporting them and peace.
Neocon/CIA-connected Washington Post editors said to get “Russia to switch sides…(t)he United States would need to destroy the rest of the Syrian air force and provide greater support” for anti-government terrorists. WaPo calls them “non-extremist rebels,” knowing none exist.
Negotiating with Tillerson or any other US representatives is a waste of time, accomplishing nothing every time attempted.
Expect nothing positive from Tuesday and Wednesday talks. Irreconcilable differences separate the agendas of both countries.
As long as neocons infest Washington, efforts to resolve them remain nil.
