NYT: Imperial Mouthpiece

April 20th, 2016

Stephen Lendman

Instead of news and analysis “fit to print,” The Times is a mouthpiece for wealth, power, privilege, suppressing hard truths, proliferating misinformation and Big Lies, ignoring America’s high crimes, causing so much harm to so many worldwide.

It supports endless US wars of aggression, attacks independent states opposed to its megalomaniacal rage for unchallenged dominance.

Russia bashing is Exhibit A, notably Vladimir Putin, the world’s preeminent peacemaker, forthrightly challenging America’s imperial agenda while seeking mutual cooperation at the same time on issues affecting all nations.

“Russian Forces Remain Heavily Involved in Syria, Despite Appearances,” The Times headlined - bashing its vital mission, confronting US aggression, waging real war on terrorism.

It cited unnamed Western “military analysts and diplomatic sources,” calling Russia’s vital mission “another more secretive, hybrid war of the sort that fits into Mr. Putin’s comfort zone.”

Regular Russian Defense Ministry reports explain its daily campaign, openness on its military activities unlike notorious US secrecy The Times ignores. Its reporting reads like administration, congressional or Pentagon press releases. With no corroborating proof, it claimed paramilitaries operate in Syria “much like what Russia used to fight in southeastern Ukraine” - one of many Big Lies The Times and other media scoundrels continue proliferating.

It turned truth on its head about Russia’s real war on terrorism, unlike America’s phony one, saying its “military mostly attack(s) moderate (sic) forces opposed to President Bashar al-Assad.”

No one can find them. None exist. Anti-government forces are imported death squads, trained by CIA and Pentagon contractors to commit horrific atrocities, including beheadings and use of chemical and other toxic agents.

Times reports suppress what’s most important to feature. Alternative media supporting Putin’s vital mission and Syrian sovereignty are bashed as propaganda.

Assad remains overwhelmingly popular for good reason. Incomplete results of Wednesday’s general elections show pro-government candidates won a strong majority.

The Times twisted reality claiming Assad “would almost surely lose” another reelection bid. Syrians want no one else leading them.

Washington and media scoundrels reject him for his independence and virtual certainty of his overwhelming reelection if a snap one is called.

His current term runs until June 2020.
