Another Republican Scheme to Derail Trump

March 21st, 2016

Stephen Lendman

He’s the most polarizing US political figure in memory, power brokers going all-out to undermine his Republican nomination and presidential bid.

No tricks too dirty are unacceptable. The New York Times is militantly anti-Trump, endorsing war goddess, Wall Street favorite Hillary Clinton, ignoring her longstanding criminal record.

On Saturday, it discussed one of apparently many schemes to derail Trump’s campaign - a 100-day plot to undermine him.

Beginning with Wisconsin’s April 5 primary, it’ll continue into summer, The Times reported - “a delegate-by-delegate lobbying effort…cast(ing) Mr. Trump as a calamitous choice” for president.

Tactics planned are “desperation measures, the political equivalent of guerrilla fighting. There is no longer room for error or delay, the anti-Trump forces say…”

A “flawlessly executed plan of attack” alone might stop him. If not, “conservatives are prepared to field an independent candidate,” opening the way for Clinton’s election, The Times didn’t explain.

Her neocon credentials exceed the worst of Republican hardliners - pro-war, pro-Wall Street, anti-populist, anti-democratic freedoms.

Right-wing Club for Growth president David McIntosh thinks there’s time to stop Trump. “It’s not a layup, but there’s a clear path to” defeating him, he believes, advocating for Cruz’s nomination, one of many Republican neocon lunatics.

From now into summer, Republican party bosses intend pressuring, bullying and perhaps bribing delegates pledged for Trump to reconsider.

A Cruz alternative backs an overt fascist Islamophobe. His national security advisors include notorious hate-mongers Frank Gaffney and former Bush deputy undersecretary of defense for intelligence retired general Jerry Boykin.

Both lunatics demonize Muslims, advocating holy war against Islam. Addressing supporters before the February 1 Iowa caucuses, Cruz said “I don’t know if sand can glow in the dark, but we’re sure going to find out,” suggesting nuclear weapons use in Washington’s Middle East wars.

He pledged to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s exclusive capital and rescind the Iran nuclear deal on day one in office if elected president.

American voters have no legitimate choices - Clinton arguably the most dangerous among a deplorable array of war-mongering, anti-populist fascists.

Noted investor, market strategist Marc Faber said “(g)iven the alternatives, (he’d) vote for Mr. Trump because he may only destroy the US economy, but Hillary Clinton will destroy the whole world.”
