Neocons Call for Invading Syria

November 20th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

In the wake of last Friday’s Paris false flag, it didn’t take long for lunatics in Washington to urge sending US ground forces to Syria - on the phony pretext of combating ISIS, their real mission to oust Assad.

A new Donald Trump radio ad calls for “bomb(ing) the hell out of ISIS,” claiming “(t)he tragic attacks in Paris prove once again that America needs to get tough on radical Islamic terrorism. President Obama and other politicians have consistently failed us.”

“Just hours before the attacks in Paris, President Obama said ISIS has been contained. It's amazing that the United States can have a president who is so out of touch, but it's also dangerous. Obama has no strategy to defeat ISIS. And now he's preparing to let hundreds of thousands of refugees from Syria into the United States.”

He has no such plan. Trump barely stopped short of urging all-out US war on Syria, including use of ground forces. If elected president, he’ll consider shutting down some mosques in America, saying:

“(I)t’s something that you’re going to have to strongly consider because some of the ideas and some of the hatred, the absolute hatred, is coming from these areas.”

Closing mosques would constitute a flagrant First Amendment violation, guaranteeing freedom of religion. Trump’s lunatic ideas ignore US state-sponsored terrorism, Muslim scapegoating, and America’s war on humanity.

Ben Carson knows more about neurosurgery than geopolitics. Calling radical “jihadists” an “existential threat,” he said America must “redouble” its efforts against it - also just stopping short of urging use of US ground forces in Syria.

Neocon presidential aspirant Senator Lindsey Graham is part of Washington’s lunatic fringe. He urges an American-led regional ground force invasion of Syria, adding: “Under no circumstances would I work with (Putin) and the Iranians regarding Syria if the price to fight ISIL (is) to keep (Assad) in power.”

He equates ISIS with Nazi Germany and Assad with imperial Japan, claiming “(i)f you don’t fight Syria, Lebanon and Jordan are going to fall…(Y)ou can never fix Iraq, (and) they’re going to hit us here at home. (It’s almost) 100 percent certain.”

He supports lawlessly sending US ground forces to Syria - “the sooner the better.” He’s not alone. Fellow presidential aspirant Senator Marco Rubio wants Washington to lead a ground force coalition against Assad, claiming it’s to fight ISIS.

Senator Ted Cruz ludicrously warns of an terrorist invasion of America without aggressive US action to prevent it. They’ll “bring these acts of terror to” our homeland, he blustered.

Before Friday’s Paris attacks, war goddess Hillary Clinton urged sending US special forces to Syria - to fight phony war on ISIS, real war on Assad, along with Washington’s illegal bombing campaign.

Later on Thursday, she’ll deliver an address on confronting ISIS. She calls its elements “the leading threat of an international terror network. It cannot be contained. It must be defeated.”

She’s expected to call for escalated aggressiveness in confronting it - the same ruse as other presidential aspirants, using the threat of ISIS as a pretext for greater war on Syria.

Ahead of her address, her campaign said she’ll outline a “strategy for defeating ISIS and eliminating the threats it poses, as well as her plan for combating radical jihadism more broadly.”

She’ll “lay out her vision for the role American leadership must play in supporting our allies, protecting our homeland, and forging a safer world.”

A New York Times/CBS News poll released last week showed most Americans way out-of-touch with reality, supporting what harms their security and well-being - 79% of Democrats satisfied or very satisfied with Obama’s deplorable presidency, 60% wanting his successor to continue the same policies, a shocking but expected example of widespread public ignorance about issues mattering most.

Clinton is a hawkish interventionist. She’s on the record supporting a US-led anti-Assad coalition, along with establishing no-fly and safe ground zones - so far barely stopping short of urging invading Syria with large numbers of US combat troops, not to fight ISIS, to oust Assad.

Jeb Bush supports an international coalition led by US ground forces, saying “(t)he United States should not delay in leading a global coalition to take out ISIS with overwhelming force. Militarily, we need to intensify our efforts in the air and on the ground.”

“We are at war with radical Islamic terrorism. Radical Islamic terrorists have declared war on the Western world. Their aim is our total destruction. We can’t withdraw from this threat, or negotiate with it. We have but one choice: to defeat it.”

Fact: Here’s what no US presidential aspirant, administration source, congressional member, or presstitute media explain.

ISIS, Al Qaeda, Jabhat al-Nusra and similar splinter groups are US creations - imperial foot soldiers used where they’re deployed. They’re the pretext for America’s regional wars. In Syria, Assad is the target like Saddam in Iraq and Gaddafi in Libya, regime change the objective.

“(W)e must restore our place as the leader and indispensable power of the free world,” Bush blustered. Like other Republican and Democrat aspirants, he supports endless wars of aggression for unchallenged US global dominance, along with harsh homeland crackdowns on nonbelievers.

The aftermath of last Friday’s Paris false flag was predictable - support for escalated US war on freedom at home and abroad. Political hyperbole in the wake of last Friday’s Paris attacks calling (US-created) ISIS a threat to Western civilization means all bets are off.

Anything ahead is possible. Expect escalated horrors, nothing positive from the state-sponsored climate of fear created.
