Alleged Beersheba Attacker Identified

October 24th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

A same day article discussed the Sunday Beersheba, Israel bus station incident - killing an Israeli soldier, the attacker, an innocent Eritrean bystander lethally shot by police, and wounding nine others.

The alleged attacker was identified as Bedouin Israeli citizen Muhannad al-Aqabi, a Hura, Negev resident. His family members were questioned. Israel automatically assumes familial involvement in these type incidents.

One unidentified family member was arrested on suspicion of helping to plan the attack. Arrest nearly always means guilt by accusation. Expect brutalizing treatment to follow, then a likely confession in Hebrew most suspects don’t understand, youths and children especially vulnerable.

Longstanding Israeli practice includes detaining suspects, charged or uncharged, denying them contacts with family members or legal counsel for days, at times weeks - putting them through excruciating interrogations amounting to brutal torture.

Signed confessions most often follow - in most cases for crimes never committed.

The Eritrean victim was identified as 29-year-old Haftom Zarhum. Haaretz said he traveled to Beersheba for a visa. He had nothing to do with the incident.

Maan News said “(g)raphic video footage show(ed) (him) being assaulted and kicked in the head as he l(ay) bleeding on the ground, with several benches thrown at him as an angry Israeli mob surround(ed) him, believing (he was) involved in the attack.”

Being Black in the wrong place at the wrong time made him vulnerable - automatically considered a “terrorist.”

So far, no one was charged with his murder. Jewish soldiers, police, settlers and other Zionist zealots are free to kill suspected “terrorists” unaccountably.

Palestinians are dying daily - victims of vicious Israeli racism. On Monday, Maan News said police shot a Palestinian woman - falsely accused of a knife attack. Other Palestinians were murdered in Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Nablus and Gaza.

An extremist settler lethally shot a Palestinian in Hebron. A Maan News cameraman was wounded by Israeli live fire. On Sunday, scores of Palestinians were wounded throughout the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza areas bordering Israel.

UN officials make high-minded statements, yet do nothing to intervene responsibly. UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Jordanian prince Zeid Ra’ad Zeid Al-Hussein, is part of the problem, not the solution, issuing a meaningless statement, saying:

“(T)he high number of casualties, in particular those resulting from the use of live ammunition by Israeli security forces, raises concerns of excessive use of force, and violations of the right to life and security of the person” - instead of condemning Israeli instigated violence, murdering Palestinians in cold blood, wrongfully calling them knife-wielding terrorists.

Ruthless Israeli brute force continues terrorizing an entire Palestinian population - wrongfully blaming victimized people for state-sponsored viciousness, supported by Washington and other Western regimes.

The Obama administration intends rewarding Israel for its high crimes - planning hundreds of millions more dollars in military aid on top of billions already supplied, along with the latest weapons and technology. One rogue state supports another.
