Obama and Putin to Address General Assembly in September

August 12th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Pope Francis will address the world body in New York on September 25 - a day after he becomes the first pontiff to address a joint congressional session, then meet with Obama at the White House.

The US president and Vladimir Putin will address the General Assembly on September 28 - the Russian leader’s first time since 2005.

Obama’s 2014 world body address was one of his worst - painful beginning-to-end demagogic listening. He ignored America’s killing machine - rampaging globally against one country after another.

He irresponsibly bashed Russia - baselessly accusing Putin of aggression in Ukraine - the same Big Lie repeatedly blasted worldwide, media scoundrels reporting it like administration press release handouts, gullible Western audiences believing it.

He absurdly called Russia, ISIS and ebola the most significant global threats. It’s hard taking him seriously. He sounds daft.

Sergey Lavrov called his remarks bizarre, adding he wasn’t sure if “he was serious or not and whether there was an Orwellian element in (them). Orwell invented the Ministry of Truth, and it looks like this philosophy is lingering.”

His comments were polar opposite “real facts.” His worldview reflects a leader determined to “use force arbitrarily regardless of Security Council resolutions or other international legal acts” - furthering his imperial interests, at the expense of threatening world peace.

He favors resolving conflicts militarily. Russia chooses diplomacy. Expect no change in Obama’s policy in this year’s address - or softening of his demagogic bombast.

Months earlier, Putin said Washington seeks world dominance. “(I)t is perfectly clear (it’s) attempt(ing) to hold back our development by various means.”

One post-Soviet “leader wants to remain such - one who assumes that everything is allowed to him, but that others only need what he allows them and what meets his own interests.”

“Russia will never be satisfied with this kind of world order. Some may like living in a state of semi-occupation. We will not do this. But we do not intend to wage war against anyone. We intend to cooperate with everyone.”

Putin’s remarks followed release of Obama’s new National Security Strategy (NSS) - old wine in new bottles, a policy of endless wars against invented enemies, potential humanity destroying nuclear war, the madness of super-weapons in the hands of power-crazed lunatics deploring peace, believing world dominance depends on blasting one country after another to rubble.

In his August 10 Rossiiskaya Gazeta article titled “August of Provocations,” Russian lower house Duma Speaker Sergey Naryshkin said America’s imperial agenda remains unchanged. He expects US anti-Russian policy to escalate ahead.

“Today, as the situation is strained across the world, we should closely watch any political intrigue prepared on both sides of the Atlantic. It is important to see and analyze anything that is created in the West and offered to various international organizations,” he said.

“America’s external debt is enormous, and looting foreign states is a method they are used to.” On the one hand, he sees increased US provocations creating greater crisis in international relations. On the other, he expects Washington’s imperial policy to fail.

“As for the international tribunal, it will take place once and for a completely different reason than today’s backers want it to be. And we will all live to witness that,” he believes.
