U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) recorded just 6,070 apprehensions on the southern border in June and 8,039 nationwide, new historic lows. In total, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reported only 25,243 encounters – the lowest number since the agency was formed in 2002. USBP recorded another milestone with 137 apprehensions on the southern frontier, the “lowest single-day total in a quarter of a century,” the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) explained in a press release on Wednesday.
