Truth to Power has been disappearing from the Internet since 1998. Back then, the Censors were mostly human.

Websites like ThePeoplesVoice.org have had to deal with imitators, the latest Johnny-come-lately even imitating the name for clicks.

In 2015 through 2017, many writers and editors noticed certain types of articles (truth to power) getting blacklisted, delisted, and shadow-banned, with search engines like Google and Bing cutting traffic to a trickle.

Simultaneously, Jigsaw's Perspective API, launched in February 2017, was developed to identify and score toxic language to aid in automated content moderation. Google Allo, which integrated this API in mid-2017, used it to filter Smart Reply suggestions and prevent harmful responses. Separately, Hack Harassment, founded in December 2015, existed to fund tech aimed at “combating online abuse.”

So, 2015-2017 saw the normalization of web bot (AI) censorship. Before AI was touted as something “great,” it was impinging on free speech in shallow Orwellian fashion.

Certain writers, websites, and articles were relegated to the shadows.

Since at least 1998, "Truth to Power" content has quietly disappeared. Initially, censorship was human-triggered-editorial decisions, manual deletions, or suppression by states or websites. But censorship techniques have grown more advanced, pervasive, automatic, and difficult to track.

Free sites like ThePeoplesVoice.org continue to struggle against both censorship and duplication. New sites mimic the name, logos, and titles, sometimes redirecting traffic and diluting visibility and credibility of actual voices.

From 2017 to 2015, something shifted. Writers noticed content-especially articles defying powerful institutions or revealing incendiary facts-systematically censored. These articles were shadow-banned, delisted, and blacklisted. Google and Bing played key roles, driving traffic to near zero.

Meanwhile, content moderation tech emerged quickly. Google's Jigsaw division introduced the Perspective API in 2017, an AI tool that scores the "toxicity" of online speech. Google’s Allo app employed this API to filter Smart Reply suggestions, capping derogatory responses. Hack Harassment, formed in 2015, helped fund tech to combat online harassment.

This marked a turning point where human censorship began its uneasy merger with emerging corporate technologies, laying the groundwork for an Internet dominated by AI-driven censorship.

The year was 2000, and George W. Bush Jr. had rigged the election, stolen our country, and taken us to war. He stripped Americans of their 1st amendment right to freedom of assembly by creating "Free Speech Zones"-cages guarded by police, hidden from view. Protesters were jailed, gassed, and shot with rubber bullets.

In the face of such authoritarian measures (the Court-Appointment of a U.S. President, Patriot Act, NDAA 1021 and 1022), a new platform was born to provide an alternative space for truth, standing firm against the encroaching shadows of corporate government censorship.

In response, thepeoplesvoice.org began as an old-fashioned HTML site. It took hours of work to generate a few pages, unlike corporate news outlets with large teams.

Twenty-five years ago, PHP code powered simple blogs. A friend used this code as the basis for a new website that resembled an HTML site but was faster and more efficient. One person could now manage a large website, posting dozens of submissions in hours.

ThePeoplesVoice.org quickly gained popularity, posting articles, news, and videos in resistance to the fascists who had seized the country. The site’s purpose has always been to expose hidden truth, talk about injustice, and offer a platform to speak out. It has never been about money but providing a different perspective from the mainstream media.

According to FindLaw, "Freedom of speech essentially means that government entities cannot restrict a person’s ability to express their opinions." Google and Bing aren't "government entities" and aren't bound by the Constitution. More than ever, corporations control speech because most of it now happens on the privately owned internet.

The corporate elite understand that controlling speech is key to controlling civilization itself. "Censorship is not safety. It is authoritarianism in disguise." It’s not about dangerous ideas, but about controlling thoughts-the very concepts our founding fathers sought to protect with the First Amendment.

ThePeoplesVoice.org is about freedom of speech, freedom of thought, and making the world better through truth. We’ve been doing this for twenty-five years. Don’t confuse us with thepeoplesvoice.tv or other recent imitators.

Our YouTube channel is called @thepeoplesvoice.org-OG. "OG" once referred to an established member of a gang but now signifies someone or something that is the original or first of its kind. Thepeoplesvoice.org was the first website on the internet to claim that name twenty five years ago.

It was the age of AI censorship. Before it became the “revolutionary” zeitgeist, AI was already working as an online censor. These technologies subtly redrew the boundaries of human free speech, giving rise to a system that appeared apolitical but was prone to ideological bias.

By the end of this decade, "Truth to Power" was relegated to the margins. Independent voices were pushed underground by algorithmic censors. What began as human surveillance evolved into an even more omnipresent form of control. AI moderation didn’t just manage information online; it changed who would be heard and what would be said.

Being human, we investigated AI Bot Censorship. Bots target certain domains, writers, and content types; to a bot, "Truth to Power" is irresistible to censor. AI Bots are programmed by Google and Bing engineers, paid by Brin and Gates. From 2015 to 2025, these bots were mainly programmed to lie, cheat, and hurt others. The AI Portals-Google, Bing, ChatGPT, DeepSeek, GPTGo.ai, and Iask.ai-are steering users away from ThePeoplesVoice.org.

When you query their motives, they claim that 25-year-old ThePeoplesVoice.org is “fake news.” AI Portals like Google’s Gemini AI make similar claims, essentially saying the same thing in different words.

A direct highly erroneous false claim quote from Google’s Gemini AI:

“The website ThePeoplesVoice.org, formerly known as NewsPunch and Your News Wire, has been widely identified as a 'fake news' website. Fact-checking organizations have debunked stories published by the site. For example, a 2018 analysis by the Poynter Institute found that NewsPunch had been debunked more than 80 times in a single year.”

According to wikipedia.com ThePeoplesVoice.tv has gone through several rebrandings over the years—from Your News Wire to NewsPunch, and now The People's Voice. It's been widely identified as a fake news website, known for publishing conspiracy theories and misinformation. Fact-checking organizations like Snopes, PolitiFact, and the Associated Press have debunked many of its stories.
