Occupy America for Change

November 18th, 2011

by Stephen Lendman

Good ideas spread fast. This one's long overdue. Real grievances launched it.

They include out-of-control corporate power, complicit politicians, systemic corruption, predatory finance capital, capitalism itself, frustration turned to rage and activism, growing poverty, depravation, unemployment, imperial wars, environmental destruction, unprecedented inequality, rigged elections, and a nation no longer fit to live in for most in it.

There's no turning back now. A sign in New York's Liberty Plaza read, "The Beginning Is Near!" Struggling for change just began. Expect years before it ends. This fight's the mother of them all. Committed activists are putting their bodies on the line, facing off against brutal cops.

It's activist class struggle, pitting organized people against entrenched power.

A whiff of Egyptian freedom for Gaza

November 18th, 2011

Eric Walberg

Israel got a taste of the new people’s Egypt with the arrest of an Egyptian journalist on the flotilla to Gaza and plans for the biggest aid convoy yet.

The ongoing Freedom Waves campaign to break the siege of Gaza hit the world headlines last week with the attempt by the Canadian Tahrir and the Irish Saoirse -- Arab and Irish for freedom -- to bring aid to Gazans directly. This time the boats left from Turkey, not Greece, where last June authorities refused to let the Freedom Flotilla depart. “Our efforts in Greece only fuelled our determination to challenge the imprisonment of the people of Gaza. We said we would continue to sail and so we are,” according to a Freedom Waves press statement.

Financial Tyranny Rules Eurozone

November 18th, 2011

by Stephen Lendman

From inception, Eurozone planning was flawed. Uniting 17 dissimilar countries under rigid rules failed.

Membership required surrendering monetary and fiscal authority to a central power.

Debt entrapment and banker occupation followed. Partnered with banking giants, money-controlled Troika power decides everything - the EU and ECB and IMF.

US Special Forces in Nigeria

November 18th, 2011

Confused Eagle

Earlier this week the State Department issued a Warning regarding another potential Terrorist attack by Boko Haram in Nigeria. The Warning covered luxury hotels in the Capital of Abuja. However the attacks that were launched within the last 24 Hours did not target Western Targets but like the prior attacks targeted the Security Establishment.

The Other Day the Nigerian Military stated that the United States will be providing Military Assistance. This could mean anytime now that the President may decide to send more Special Forces to Africa. In this case that country could be Nigeria. And with this being Veteran's Day weekend this deployment could happen without people paying attention to it.

When Hillary Clinton doesn't make sense

November 18th, 2011

Kourosh Ziabari

U.S. President Barack Obama will be a lame duck next year and the officials in his administration, especially his Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are hilariously doing their best to make sure that they haven't spared any effort to intervene in the internal affairs of other countries and sabotage the stability and security of those whom they call "enemies", like Iran.

On October 27, Hillary Clinton gave an exclusive interview to the UK's state-funded, state-run BBC Persian TV and in an attempt aimed at reaching out to the Iranian nation, made bombastic remarks which have certainly infuriated the Iranian nation and demonstrated that the hostile behavior and antagonistic stance of the U.S. government toward the Iranian nation is a manifestation of the idiom "the leopard can't change its spots."

Big Lies Launch Wars

November 17th, 2011

by Stephen Lendman

In "The Art of War," Sun Tzu said "All war is based on deception."

What worked in ancient times more than ever applies now, given instant ways of communicating globally and super-weapons Washington and Israel threaten to use like hand grenades.

In "Doctor Faustus", Christopher Marlowe mentioned "the face that launched a thousand ships." He referred to Helen of Troy (formerly of Sparta).

To win her back, Greeks launched 1,000 warships. According to Greek mythology, the Trojan War followed.

Occupy The Library

November 17th, 2011

By Red Raven

America’s majority who supported the Occupy Wall Street movement (OWS), within the 99% of all Americans, are being smeared by agent propagandists within the punditry of mainstream media (MSM).

For example, Michael Gerson’s black demagoguery, of the closet-right-wing Washington Post, is a good example. In one of his recent columns he declared the OWS movement seems little more than a “…confused set of grievances…” and paints the movement to have little ideological coherence save Marxist socialism and anarchy—referring to a “Paris Commune” in Oakland constructing barricades, setting fires, throwing concrete blocks and explosives. He also says city governments now begin to “…look hapless for their accommodation of squalor, robberies, sexual attacks, drug use, vagrancy, and vigilantism.”

Time for an Economic Bill of Rights

November 17th, 2011

Ellen Brown

Henry Ford said, “It is well enough that the people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning.”

We are beginning to understand, and Occupy Wall Street looks like the beginning of the revolution.

We are beginning to understand that our money is created, not by the government, but by banks. Many authorities have confirmed this, including the Federal Reserve itself. The only money the government creates today are coins, which compose less than one ten-thousandth of the money supply. Federal Reserve Notes, or dollar bills, are issued by Federal Reserve Banks, all twelve of which are owned by the private banks in their district. Most of our money comes into circulation as bank loans, and it comes with an interest charge attached.

Israel's war threats: Sheer hollow propaganda

November 17th, 2011

Kourosh Ziabari

Israel has awkwardly and desperately renewed its outworn war threats against Iran in the recent weeks, indicating that it's getting prepared to launch a military strike on the Islamic Republic's nuclear facilities.

Last week, the Zionist regime successfully test fired a missile which is said to have the capability of carrying a nuclear warhead and reach Iran, as well as Russia and China. On November 2, the TV stations around the world screened footages of a rocket-propulsion system being launched from somewhere around Israel coastal Palmachim military base. The missile's range is claimed to be 10,000 kilometers and therefore, Iran will be easily within the reach of it, in the case that a military attack on Iran is opted for.
