America's Student Loan Racket

June 9th, 2012

by Stephen Lendman

This writer's recent book titled "His new book is titled "How Wall Street Fleeces America: Privatized Banking, Government Collusion and Class War" includes a chapter on America's student loan racket. It discusses the issue in detail.

It explains a disturbing government/corporate partnership. Students are exploited for profit. Providers are enriched. For many, rising tuition and fees make higher education unaffordable. Others need large loans to attend. As a result, they become debt entrapped.

Some face burdens up to $100,000 or higher. If unpaid after 30 years, it's a $500,000 obligation. If default or declare bankruptcy, it's unforgiven. Bondage is permanent.

Why anti-Israelism is not anti-Semitism

June 9th, 2012

Kourosh Ziabari

The leaders of the Israeli regime have long been after spreading this fallacy that criticizing the actions and policies of this regime is tantamount to being anti-Jew and anti-Semite, thereby sanctioning any condemnation of their brutal and aggressive ploys by the international community.

The politicians and policy-makers in Tel Aviv have shrewdly realized that, at least in Europe, the Achilles hill of the statesmen is being accused of anti-Semitism, the reason being that because of the alleged hardships that Hitler imposed upon the Jews during the World War II, the European leaders should continue to pay ransom to the Israeli regime so as not to be charged with the blame of anti-Semitism. Why? Because Israel is the sole entity that represents the global Jewry.

The 1967-war revisited

June 9th, 2012

By Khalid Amayreh

Part-1

When Israel occupied the West Bank in 1967, I was ten years old. Then, I didn't fully grasp what was happening to us. Arab radio stations transmitting from Cairo, Damascus and Baghdad had been galvanizing us into believing that Israel's days were numbered and that Arab nationalism, which nearly replaced Islam as our de facto religion, would soon tear up the Zionist entity into smithereens. We virtually worshipped Gamal Abdul Nasser, the legendary Egyptian president, who became a God-like figure. It was far more abominable to curse the ultimate leader of Arab nationalism, than to curse the Almighty.

So you can imagine the gigantic shock and disappointment we suffered when all of our dreams were crushed, when all these charismatic leaders proved to be little men who excelled in rhetoric but failed utterly in the confrontation with Israel.

Greece and the Euro: Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover

June 8th, 2012

by Ellen Brown

The problem is all inside your head she said to me. The answer is easy if you take it logically. I’d like to help you in your struggle to be free. There must be fifty ways to leave your lover. –Lyrics by Paul Simon

The Euro appears to be a marriage of incompatible partners. A June 1st article in the UK Telegraph titled “Why Europe’s Love Affair with the European Project Is Ending” reported that two-thirds of 9,000 respondents thought that having the euro as their single currency was a mistake.

For Greece, it was a tragic mismatch from the beginning; and like many a breakup, it is really about money. Greece is a vivacious young woman chained to a tyrannical old man. She yearns to be free to dance on her own; but breaking up is hard to do. Defaulting on her debts will force her out of the Eurozone and back to issuing drachmas, and she could get brutally beaten by speculators on foreign exchange markets for her insolence.

More Syrian Blood on Obama's Hands

June 8th, 2012

by Stephen Lendman

Morning headlines again falsely accused Assad of mass killings in Qubeir village in central Hama province.

Houla-style slaughter was repeated. Reports said as many as 78 civilians were killed. Half were women and children. Around 35 members of one family were murdered in cold blood.

Victims were shot at close range and/or stabbed. Some bodies were burned. Independent reports haven't explained what eventually will come out. Pro-Assad loyalists were targeted for assassination. At issue also is creating pretexts for Libyan-style intervention.

Western-recruited death squads bear full responsibility. Syrian state TV said an "armed terror group" committed the "horrifying crime....What a few media have reported (is) completely false. (They're) contributing to spilling the blood of Syrians."

What Phil Saw That Day

June 8th, 2012

By Gilad Atzmon

45th anniversary of the attack on the USS Liberty

Back in 2009, in Houston Texas, Mimi Adams, a distinguished Palestinian solidarity & human rights activist, gave me a present- a USS Liberty baseball cap. She put it on my head and said,

“Gilad, in the next two weeks, make sure you have it on your head everywhere you go in America. You will see what happens.”

It was around midnight, I was tired and jet-lagged, I couldn’t really understand the significance of the baseball cap, I just wanted make my way to my hotel room and catch some sleep. At 7 AM in the airport on my way to the gate with a USS Liberty baseball cap on my head, just before boarding on a flight to San Francisco, I noticed an older guy chasing me. He was breathless and agitated.

FACEBOOK TANKS / WHAT REALLY HAPPENED

June 7th, 2012

Allen L Roland

Now that the over priced Facebook IPO has come and rightfully tanked, let’s take a revealing look beneath the over-hyped illusion of the social-networking website itself ~ but more importantly what its IPO fiasco tells us about a blatantly rigged stock market, where short term greed still overrides fairness, and how we all got Zuckered:

I’ve never been a big fan or advocate of Facebook although as a columnist I use it as a publishing platform among many other publishing platforms. I was asked by the producers of my monthly radio show ( Truth Talk ) to join in order to broaden their radio exposure ~ but I spend virtually no daily time on Facebook, probably know less than 10% of my so-called “friends” and have never clicked on a Facebook Ad. I’ve also spent 11 years as an Investment banker, some of it on Wall Street, and know how the Wall Street casino really works.

Walker Wins, Wisconsinites Lose

June 7th, 2012

by Stephen Lendman

Morning headlines read more like obituaries than reason for anyone to celebrate. Despite pre-election polls suggesting either candidate could win, odds greatly favored Republican Scott Walker.

He outspent Democrat Tom Barrett around 25 - 1. Corporate backing made the difference. The Democrat National Committee (DNC) gave no financial or campaign support. Neither did Obama. Effectively they conceded. Final results didn't surprise.

On June 6, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel headlined "Walker wins recall race over Barrett," saying: He became "the first governor in (US) history to survive a recall election...."

The USA: Military Arm Of The New World Order

June 6th, 2012

By Cosmic Convergence Research Group

If Americans only felt the pain and suffering caused by the US Government's war machine....

Is there any doubt that the United States of America is the military arm of the New World Order (NWO), as it has been since World War I?

Just as the City of London has functioned as the world headquarters for the financial arm of the NWO, and Vatican City has functioned as the religious headquarters for the NWO, Washington, DC has functioned as the military headquarters for the NWO.

Surely you have read or heard by now that each of these city states were set up as autonomous political entities so that no one could control them except their masters within the Global Control Matrix (GCM). When you understand this reality, you can clearly understand all that has taken place with the US of A for the past hundred years. Viet Nam (What on earth were we ever doing there?), Korea (Why was MacArthur willing to drop an atom bomb there?), Argentina (The CIA plot to assassinate Allende was also about what?), Iraq (Twice!!), Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran (Economic warfare and stealth bombings), Cambodia and Laos, Cuba and Grenada, Nicaragua and El Salvador, Honduras and Panama, East Timor and Suharto's Indonesian, Serbia and Bosnia, Somalia and Yemen, Libya and Syria, etc. etc., etc. Will the bellicose behavior ever end?!

Here's a pretty comprehensive listing of most of the overt military aggressions, conflicts, interventions engaged by the USA since 1775. This listing of "Extraterritorial and major domestic deployments", as Wikipedia calls it, is as lengthy as it is overwhelming.

Timeline of United States military operations

There is no country on earth, not even the once all powerful British Empire, that has been engaged in so much military aggression over the past 100 years. Clearly, America's destiny was to act as the enforcement strong-arm for the World Shadow Government (WSG). And so it does. Right up to this very day in both Syria and Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan. Even when American troops leave those theaters of war altogether, the USA will still enforce the dictates of the WSG, carry out the orders of the GCM and follow the agenda of the NWO by proxy.

What follows is a short photo-documentary of the symbolism of the NWO, especially as it appears in the capitals of aforementioned city states. Each of these obelisks is purposely located, specifically positioned and deliberately placed in relation to other power structures, all of which are designed to draw energy from each other.

Collapse At Hand

June 6th, 2012

Dr. Paul Craig Roberts

Ever since the beginning of the financial crisis and quantitative easing, the question has been before us: How can the Federal Reserve maintain zero interest rates for banks and negative real interest rates for savers and bond holders when the US government is adding $1.5 trillion to the national debt every year via its budget deficits? Not long ago the Fed announced that it was going to continue this policy for another 2 or 3 years. Indeed, the Fed is locked into the policy. Without the artificially low interest rates, the debt service on the national debt would be so large that it would raise questions about the US Treasury’s credit rating and the viability of the dollar, and the trillions of dollars in Interest Rate Swaps and other derivatives would come unglued.
