Does the US war strategy require other nations to follow the American policy lead of war against all - the terrorism of war instigated by the Clash of Civilizations theory? Israel Fuels Syrian Fire, Risking Regional Outburst

The timing of the Israeli air raid early on January 30 on a Syrian target, that has yet to be identified, coincided with a hard to refute indications that the “regime change” in Syria by force, both by foreign military intervention and by internal armed rebellion, has failed, driving the Syrian opposition in exile to opt unwillingly for “negotiations” with the ruling regime, with the blessing of the U.S., EU and Arab League, concluding, in the words of a Deutsche Welle report on this February 2, that “nearly two years since the revolt began, (Syrian President Bashar Al-) Assad is still sitting comfortably in presidential chair.”

Stupid people have the right to vote. Stupid people propel our consumer economy and waste money on myriad things because they are stupid shoppers. Stupid people have the right to own guns, lots of guns. Stupid people have free speech. So, no surprise, in our representative democracy (aka republic) even the most stupid citizens deserve to be represented in government. God has done this by giving them the Republican Party with lots of stupid politicians running and ruining our nation.
Now we see leading Republicans working hard to rebrand, remessage, rebuild and separate themselves from Tea Party extremists. This mighty effort is just another example of how stupid and delusional Republicans are.
Time to Drop Money from Helicopters?

Milton Friedman of the Chicago School of Economics suggested in 1969 that dropping money out of helicopters for citizens to pick up was a sure way to restart the economy. This was consistent with long-held views; in 1948 he argued that governments should rely solely on printed money to finance their regular cyclical deficits. This is the Keynsian’s favorite Friedman monetary recommendation. In fact, John Maynard Keynes put forward a similar idea in 1936, but he urged people to dig up bottles filled with money.
Looking at the shape of the economy, maybe it is time to consider direct cash payments to citizens. Does anyone doubt that if the $20 trillion or so dollars the Federal Reserve has given to the banks in the 2008-09 bailout, the virtually no interest loans for 3 years and the subsequent QE’s (Qualitative Easings) had been given directly to the people (except, of course, the 1 percent) the economy would be better off today? That the economic collapse would be behind us?

America's Deplorable State of the Union

Obama does what his supporters thought impossible. He governs to the right of George Bush. He's beholden to powerful monied interests. They own him. He's their man in Washington. Whatever they want they get. He mocks rule of law principles. He deplores democratic values. He prioritizes wrong over right. He's waging multiple direct and proxy wars on humanity.
He's waging social and economic ones domestically. He's creating unprecedented levels of poverty, unemployment, homelessness, hunger and deprivation.
Beating Up on North Korea

On February 11, Pyongyang informed Washington and China of its intentions. February 12 headlines explained.
They said North Korea conducted its third nuclear test. Russia's Defense Ministry estimated a blast exceeding seven kilotons.
The Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) measured the yield at twice North Korea's 2009 test.
Condemnation followed. New sanctions were threatened. More on that below.
BDS Better Learn from its Mistakes

It’s almost funny to read the BDS’ leadership’s outraged reactions to top ethnic-cleansing advocate Alan Dershowitz when he tried to stop a discussion with Judith Butler and Omar Barghouti discussing BDS at NYC Brooklyn College.
It’s funny because the BDS leadership unfortunately is drowning in the exact same Talmudic herem culture as is Dershowitz. Just like Dershowitz, BDS is itself engaged in a relentless assault on fundamental and elementary rights such as freedom of speech and freedom of expression. So often, we learn about BDS embarking on yet another assault on dedicated humanists and intellectuals - in many cases, leading supporters of Palestine – as we watch Palestinian solidarity transformed itself into just another zone of occupation.

This week, Palestinian activists from the village of Burin, south of Nablus, pitched tents and assembled some barricades in an effort to assert their land rights in an area constantly coveted by Jewish settlers.
Awaiting the American illusion...again

The Palestinian Authority (PA) is bracing itself for a new episode of engagement with the new Obama administration. Both President Obama and his newly-appointed Secretary of State John Kerry are planning to visit the region and hold talks with Israeli and Arab officials.
Some PA officials are relating to the visits with the same utter naïveté they had displayed every time an American official landed in Ramallah. As these "perennially optimistic" officials react to the invariably futile visits, they often give the impression that "this time will be different" and that the U.S. is now serious about pressuring the colonialist Zionist state to walk in the path of peace and forcing it to give up the stolen land and end the world's longest military occupation.
