Kerry v. Lavrov in Munich

February 3rd, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Kerry represents the worst of America's dark side. Imperial lawless defines it. So do permanent wars on humanity.

Lavrov and Vladimir Putin deserve Nobel Peace Prizes. They address regional conflicts responsibly. They want things resolved diplomatically.

They've gone all out for peace in Syria. They've done it tirelessly. They continue doing it against long odds.

They know Obama wants regime change. So does Kerry. They support death squad killers. They ignore their worst atrocities. They wrongfully blame Assad for their crimes.

They want Ukraine's democratically government ousted. They want pro-Western ultranationalist extremists replacing it.

Good News and Bad from Palestine

February 3rd, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

First the good news. There's much to report. On November 29, 2013, the UN General Assembly designated 2014 as the International Year of Solidarity with the Palestinian people.

A previous article asked why this year? Why not every year? Why not action, not words. Hope springs eternal. Maybe policy changes will follow.

Good things are happening. Global BDS successes highlight them. They're impressive. They're essential. They suggest more ahead. More on this below.

Obama Planning War on Syria?

February 3rd, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Obama is the latest in a long line of lawless US leaders. He's one of numerous past warrior ones. He campaigned as a peace president. On October 28, 2007, he said:

"I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do."

"I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank."

And he'll close Guantanamo. And he'll hold Bush administration war criminals accountable. And he'll end lawless military commissions trials.

And he'll increase capital gains and dividends taxes on high-income earners. And he'll tax corporate windfall profits.

Kerry Backs Keystone XL Pipeline

February 3rd, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Kerry mocks legitimacy. He represents the worst of America's dark side. He's going all out to be Washington's worst ever Secretary of State.

He's Obama's war on humanity front man. He blames Syrian President Assad for US-supported death squad crimes. He wants him ousted. He wants Syrian sovereignty destroyed.

He wants Washington deciding Syria's future. He wants it colonized for profit. He wants Ukraine exploited the same way.

He supports ultranationalist extremists. He blames Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych for US-supported street thug violence.

He's Israel's man in Washington. His peace deal is fake. It's entirely one-sided. It demands unconditional Palestinian surrender.

New York Ending Stop and Frisk?

February 2nd, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Stop-and-frisk is longstanding New York City policy. It's blatantly racist. It targets Blacks and Latinos. It's unconstitutional.

It violates privacy rights. In 2012 alone, nearly 700,000 people were affected. Ray Kelly was New York's longest serving police commissioner.

He served from January 1, 2002 to December 31, 2013. He lied calling stop and frisk effective. Clear evidence proves otherwise.

Five Ws and one H

February 1st, 2014

By Robert Singer

The Five Ws are questions whose answers are considered basic in information gathering. They are often mentioned in journalism (cf. news style), research and police investigations. They constitute a formula for getting the complete story on a subject. According to the principle of the Five Ws, a report can only be considered complete if it answers these questions starting with an interrogative word:

Who is it about?
What happened?
When did it take place?
Where did it take place?
Why did it happen?

The "Five Ws" and one H were memorialized by Rudyard Kipling in his "Just So Stories" (1902), in which a poem accompanying the tale of "The Elephant's Child" opens with:

I keep six honest serving-men (They taught me all I knew); Their names are What and Why and When And How and Where and Who.

Each question should have a factual answer — facts necessary to include for a report to be considered complete.

The official story of Sandy Hook and the recent mass shootings as reported in the media answer The "Five Ws and one H."

Is Syrian “Peace” Conference Laying the Foundation for War?

February 1st, 2014

By Kevin Zeese and Margaret Flowers

Those opposed to war in Syria better get ready to prevent war again.

The Geneva II conference which claims to be seeking to end the war in Syria seems designed to fail and instead to provide an excuse for military intervention by the United States and its allies. Human rights activist, Ajamu Baraka, describes the negotiations as an ‘Orwellian subterfuge’ designed to provide justification for war and a lot of facts support his view.

The negotiations are destined to fail because of the way they have been set-up and the preconditions of the United States and its allies in the Syrian opposition demanding that President Bashar al-Assad agree to leave government before negotiations go forward.

“LA ÉPOCA DEL CENTRO IZQUIERDA COMO FUERZA DINÁMICA EN LATINOAMÉRICA SE ESTÁ DEBILITANDO Y CRECE LA OFENSIVA IMPERIALISTA”

February 1st, 2014

The Meaning Of Dieudonné

February 1st, 2014

By Gilad Atzmon

Since the 1968 Student Revolution, the European and American Left, together with a herd of Jewish progressive intellectuals, have invested enormous effort in attempting to break society down into multiple segments of identities.

The Left adopted this peculiar approach because it could never cope with its own failure to bond with working people.

The Jewish intellectuals, who led the campaign, realized that fragmented and divided nations are far less dangerous for Jews. As we know, Jews are threatened by cohesive, patriotic nationalism, and for a good reason. After all, they were amongst the prime victims of such an ideology.

Bizarrely enough, dazzled by the emerging false prophecy of post-68 ‘identity politics,’ the Left was quick to drop its universal ethos. While in the past it aimed to cross the divide and unite the working people, the post-68 Left actually split and ghettoized the Western subjects by means of identification.

Obama's MyRA Proposal: Hold the Cheers

February 1st, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Americans don't need another phony retirement scheme. They need employer-provider defined benefits they once enjoyed.

They need guaranteed pensions. They need safe and secure ones. They need Social Security protected. They need it strengthened.

It's not an entitlement. It's not welfare. It's a contractual federal obligation. It's for eligible recipients who qualify.
