Why Do We Allow Ukraine's Government to Write the Official Report on Their Shoot-Down of MH17?

November 24th, 2014

Eric Zuesse

There are only two suspects in the shoot-down of the MH17 Malaysian airliner over Ukraine on July 17th: the separatist rebels, whom the Ukrainian Government charge had shot it down mistaking it for one of the Ukrainian Air Force bombers that routinely drop bombs onto the separatists and their families and indiscriminately onto everyone else in that region; or otherwise the UkrainianAir Force itself, as a means for President Obama to be able to win increased international sanctions against Russia for Russia’s support of those blamed rebels. That’s it, and that’s all. One of these two suspects, the Ukrainian Government, was granted by the other three member-states of the official MH17 ‘investigating’ commission, a veto-power over anything that’s written into that ‘investigating’ report.

In other words, basically what exists is this: The Ukrainian Government gets to write the official ‘investigation’ report on that ‘accident.’ The other three Obama-allied nations will place their signatures onto it — or else there simply won’t be any such ‘final report.’

U.S. Among Only 3 Countries at U.N. Officially Backing Nazism & Holocaust-Denial; Israel Parts Company from Them; Germany Abstains

November 24th, 2014

Eric Zuesse

In a U.N. vote, on November 21st, only three countries — the United States, Ukraine, and Canada — voted against a resolution to condemn racist fascism, or “nazism,” and to condemn denial of Germany’s World War II Holocaust against primarily Jews.

This measure passed the General Assembly, on a vote of 115 in favor, 3 against, and 55 abstentions (the abstentions were in order not to offend U.S. President Obama, who was opposed to the resolution).

Lavrov: West Wants Regime Change in Russia

November 24th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is highly respected and then some. Representing Russia honorably. Forthrightly. Responsibly.

Saying what he means. Meaning what he says. Telling participants at the Moscow-based advisory Foreign and Defense Policy Council:

"As for the concept behind to the use of coercive measures, the West is making clear it does not want to force Russia to change policy but wants to secure regime change."

Western leaders publically "say there is a need to impose sanctions that will destroy the economy and cause public protests."

Tensions between Russia and Western countries were brewing long before Ukrainian crisis conditions, he explained.

Sham Bahraini Elections

November 24th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

On November 22, sham parliamentary elections were held for the first time since 2011. Majority Shias boycotted as expected. Turnout was low.

Main opposition party Al-Wefaq refused to participate. Its Secretary-General, Ali Salman, said "turnout (was) no more than 30%" of around 350,000 eligible voters.

Most participating were military as well as security and public sector personnel.

"The popular will has triumphed for the sake of the homeland. What a failure it is for the government to beg for a vote from a people who are marginalised by them," said Salman.

London-based Al-Wefaq member Khalil Al-Marzooq said opposition members had nothing to gain. Bahraini elections are farcical. Illegitimate by any standard.

Lee Harvey Oswald: Unsung Hero Who Alerted JFK To 'Assassination Plot' In Chicago

November 23rd, 2014

Oswald Worked Directly For Robert F. Kennedy Who Authorized His Return From The USSR To Conduct Domestic ‘Counterintelligence’

The following narrative concerning the true role of Lee Harvey Oswald in the assassination of John F. Kennedy is both simple and complex. Simple because Oswald was actually a very young and simple guy who was grossly misrepresented by the government, law enforcement and the media. Complex because an extraordinary confluence of circumstances threw him into a literal caldron of festering conflicts and complicated vendettas.

“No good deed goes unpunished” is an adage that is quite applicable to the real story of Lee Oswald. His idealistic nature and ardent search for his mission in life propelled him into the most dangerous game on the planet in the early 1960s. Such was his naiveté and quixotic approach to life that Oswald would be thrust onto a battlefield that guaranteed he would be caught in the crossfire. And so he was on November 24th, 1963[1].

Gaza bombings rock Palestinian reconciliation

November 23rd, 2014

By Nicola Nasser*

It is ironic that the annual commemoration of the death of Yasser Arafat should turn into an occasion for rekindling the flames of internal strife. This was clearly the aim of last week’s bombings that targeted the homes of Fatah leaders in Gaza, as well as the podium for the commemorative ceremonies of Arafat, who strove to make Palestinian national unity one of the pillars of his political legacy.

How desperately those concerned need to be inspired by the political legacy of that great president.

During a visit to demonstrate solidarity with the West Bank village of Al-Mughayyar, where settlers, under the protective eye of occupation soldiers, set fire to a mosque, Director of the Ministry of Awqaf (Religious Endowments) Kamel Abu Aliya remarked that his ministry have documented 20 similar attacks on mosques in the West Bank since 2011.
