Corporate Predators Want Compensation for Lost Cuban Assets They Stole

December 25th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

They never forget. Or forgive. Even for what happened over half a century ago. When Cuba got back what they stole.

When Castro ousted Fulgencio Batista's despotic rule, he nationalized foreign corporate assets. Originally valued at around $1.8 billion.

At 6% simple interest, now worth around $7 billion. From sugar processing plants, other factories, mines, oil refineries, power plants, hotels, 75% of Cuba's arable land, cattle ranches, other assets.

US companies have 5,913 outstanding claims. Including from ExxonMobil, Coca-Cola, Freeport-McMoRan, Colgate-Palmolive, Procter and Gamble, Goodyear, Firestone, General Motors, Owens-Illinois, Avon Products, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and many others.

Christmas in Palestine

December 25th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

No joy to the world in Palestine. No peace and good will. No most wonderful time of the year.

Not this year. Or previous ones for decades. Or future ones without top-to-bottom fundamental change. What's nowhere in sight.

Militarized occupation harshness continues. Gaza remains besieged. Collective punishment is official Israeli policy. So is state terror.

Israel denies millions of Palestinians fundamental rights everyone deserves. Ruthlessness defines its agenda.

Thousands of Palestinian political prisoners languish in its gulag. Guilty of wanting to live free. Separated from loved ones.

On December 23, the Popular Struggle Coordination Committee (PSCC) decorated a Manger Square Christmas tree with leftover Israeli terror remnants.

Including tear gas canisters. Stun grenades. Missile fragments. Photos of martyred or injured children along with them. Delivering a clear message.

US-Led NATO: Humanity's Greatest Threat

December 24th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

US-dominated NATO's post-Cold War transformation into a global police force threatens humanity's survival. America calls the shots.

Involving NATO in wars on three continents - Europe, Asia and Africa. After Soviet Russia's dissolution, the Alliance expanded exponentially.

From 16 to 28 members. Twenty-two Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC) ones. Seven Mediterranean Dialogue countries. Four Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI) states.

Comprising nearly one-third of world nations. Planning much more expansion. Intending new members and partners.

On all continents. Virtually everywhere. For a US-controlled global military alliance. A dagger at humanity's heart.

According to Stop NATO founder/editor Rick Rozoff:

"Post-Cold War NATO has repeatedly and without disguise identified its purview and its area of operations to be international in scope, and over the past 22 years its efforts to achieve that objective have steadily accelerated to the point where the military alliance is well poised to supplant the United Nations as the main, indeed the exclusive, arbiter of conflicts not only between but within nations throughout the world."

Antisémitox & French Survival Instinct

December 24th, 2014

By Gilad Atzmon

A lack of self-reflection is embedded in Jewish culture, ideology and politics. This elementary observation helps to explain why many Jews regard anti-Semitism as strictly a collective psychosis or general disease of the Goyim.

This week we learned that a French-Jewish organization has been distributing a remedy for anti Semitism – it is labeled "Antisemitox, the first treatment against anti-Semitism." This treatment for anti Jewish tendencies suggests that at least from a Jewish perspective opposition to Jews is a Goy disease.

Fighting ‘Islamic State’ is not the Israeli priority

December 24th, 2014

By Nicola Nasser*

Defying a consensus that it is a priority by the world community comprising international rivals like the United States, Europe, Russia and China and regional rivals like Iran, Syria and Saudi Arabia, Israel, like Turkey, does not eye the U.S. – led war on the IS as its regional priority. Nor fighting Israel is an IS priority.

The Israeli top priority is to dictate its terms to Syria to sign a peace treaty with Israel before withdrawing its forces from the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, Palestinian territories and Lebanese southern lands.

For this purpose, Israel is determined to break down the Syria – Iran alliance, which has been the main obstacle preventing Israel from realising its goals. Changing the ruling regime in either Damascus or Tehran would be a step forward. Towards this Israeli strategic goal the IS could not be but an Israeli asset.

BBC: Propaganda Bullhorn Specialists

December 24th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Owned and operated by Britain's government. Suppressing hard truths on issues mattering most.

Reporting what it wants viewers and listeners to know. UK-based Media Lens calls BBC "the most insidious propaganda outlet today."

Broadcasting worldwide. Proliferating Big Lies. Asking if it can "tell the truth…when its senior managers are appointed by the government." Subject to sacking if become too critical of its policies.

Consider how BBC editors and correspondents portray NATO. A US-led killing machine. Waging war on humanity.

Turning truth on its head claiming its mission is maintaining peace and security. Media Lens quoted BBC newsreader Sophie Raworth.

During NATO's September Wales summit. Saying "NATO leaders will have to try to tackle the growing threat of the Islamist extremists in Iraq and Syria, and decide what steps to take next."

Israel's Longstanding War on Palestine

December 24th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Israeli military orders alone control virtually all aspects of Palestinian life. Making it intolerable for millions.

Depriving them of fundamental rights. Persecuting, brutalizing and terrorizing them. Including:

No. 92: Giving Israel control of all West Bank and Gaza water.

No. 158: Prohibiting Palestinians from constructing water installations without (nearly impossible to get) permit permission. Any built to be confiscated or demolished.

No. 1015: Requiring Palestinians get permission to plant trees on their own land.

China’s Second ‘Cultural Revolution’

December 23rd, 2014

James Petras

Introduction

China is in the midst of its second ‘cultural revolution’ in a half century. While the first (under Chairman Mao Tse Tung) was intended to ‘revitalize socialism’; the current is directed to ‘moralizing’ capitalism.

The first CR was a frontal attack on the hierarchy of power and privilege inside and outside of the Communist Party, launched from above by Mao Tse Tung, but taken up from below by Red Guards in order to bring about a more egalitarian society.

America: Cesspool of Terror

December 23rd, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

It bears repeating what other articles stressed. No nation in world history caused more harm to more people over a longer duration than America. Rogue state ruthlessness by any standard.

North Korea is right calling America "a cesspool of terrorism." Its sordid history proves it. More on this below.

Pyongyang's comment came after Washington irresponsibly accused it of hacking Sony Pictures' film "The Interview."

Negatively portraying leader Kim Jong-un. Including a plot to assassinate him. No evidence whatever links North Korea to the hacking attack.

Pyongyang categorically denies it. A government statement saying "(w)hoever is going to frame our country for a crime should present concrete evidence."

US/Israeli No Palestinian State Solution

December 23rd, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

America and Israel partner against world peace. Stability. Equity. Justice. Responsible governance. According to fundamental rule of law principles. No two nations operate more ruthlessly. Lawlessly. Recklessly. Reigning terror on adversaries. Supporting like-minded rogue regimes.

Both countries oppose Palestinian statehood. Defying international law. Affirming self-determination as a universal right.

Wanting Palestinians kept in perpetual bondage. Under occupation harshness. Denied all international law guaranteed rights. Over their lives, welfare and futures. Treating them like criminals. Subhumans. Exploiting them ruthlessly.
