Post-Minsk EU Sanctions on Russia

February 17th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Imposing new sanctions shows Brussels wants confrontation, not conflict resolution.

Russia's NATO representative, Alexander Grushko, calls relations with the Alliance "close to the freezing point."

"(W)e…have (no) illusions regarding the dangers that might be caused by NATO," he said. (It) found a new meaning of life. (It's) play(ing) out against us, against Russia."

On February 16, Brussels sanctioned 19 more Russian and Donbas officials. Its blacklist totals 151 individuals, as well as 37 Russian companies and other entities. Sanctions are war by other means.

The Reality Of Present Day Anti-Semitism. Or To Be More Precise: Anti-Jewish Sentiment

February 17th, 2015

William Hanna

Anti-Semitism or a justifiable demand that Israelis stop persecuting Palestinians?

“It is highly probable that the bulk of the Jew's ancestors 'never' lived in Palestine 'at all,' which witnesses the power of historical assertion over fact.”

H. G. Wells, The Outline of History

The reality is that by simply asking such a valid question innocent people can become targets for unjustified accusations of anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial which together have become the most powerful weapon — by conflating Zionism with Judaism — for silencing criticism of, or preventing activism against Israeli violations of international law including a barbarous disregard for human rights.

How Can This Happen? Here Is How

February 16th, 2015

Eric Zuesse

Ukrainian military burst into the house, beat the host, steal valuables and alcohol.

How can this happen?: http://fortruss.blogspot.com/2015/02/ukrainian-soldiers-break-into-house.html

Here is how: http://www.kyivpost.com/content/ukraine/ukraines-land-agency-give-land-to-soldiers-in-the-east-for-free-352100.html

So: Ukraine’s troops are permitted to steal whatever they want from the residents in Donbass, the rebelling region. The particular victim here lives in an apartment, and so all that Ukraine's troops can take from him are his belongings. He’s lucky they didn’t shoot him (if they didn’t).

Britain and Canada Involved in Foiled US Venezuelan Coup Plot

February 16th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Together they're an axis of evil. Deploring democracy. Waging war on humanity.

Serving monied interests at the expense of popular ones. Employing no-holds-barred tactics. State terrorism by any standard.

A previous article discussed Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro explaining Obama's plot to kill him, oust his government, and seize power forcefully was thwarted.

Washington wants all sovereign independent governments toppled. It tolerates none anywhere.

It wants pro-Western regimes serving US interests worldwide. Especially in resource rich countries like Venezuela.

TeleSUR provided details on Obama's foiled coup plot. It wasn't the first. It won't be the last.

US-style hardball takes no prisoners. Maduro knows he's a marked man. Washington wants him dead.

Is Saudi Arabia reviewing anti-MB approach?

February 16th, 2015

By Khalid Amayreh in occupied East Jerusalem

Signs are rife that the new ruler of Saudi Arabia, King Salman, may be reconsidering his predecessor's decision to outlaw the Muslim Brotherhood (MB).

The late King Abdullah was apparently under the influence of "bad advisors" when he issued a hastily-prepared decree, classifying the MB, along with several other groups, as a terrorist group.

The MB is the biggest and by far most moderate contemporary Sunni Islamic movement, with followers and supporters spread all over the globe. Its ideological and political enemies, who include secularists, Shiites, Leftists and Arab nationalists, accuse it of extremism and violence. However, these enemies are yet to produce any concrete and irrefutable evidence corroborating their claims.

Copenhagen False Flag?

February 16th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

It's too early to know much about Saturday's. Rush to judgments can prove wrong.

Automatically calling these type incidents terrorist attacks is way over-the-top. On a typical Chicago weekend, multiple shootings occur.

Much like in other US cities nationwide. Most go unreported. Headlines don't scream "terrorism."

We'll never know the motive behind Copenhagen's incident. More on this below.

Perhaps what happened reflected an angry man losing it. Or maybe another state-sponsored false flag?

On Saturday, two people were reported killed. Five others injured in twin Copenhagen, Denmark shootings. One attack targeted the Krudttonden cultural center. At the time, it was hosting a discussion on Islam and free speech titled "Art, blasphemy, and the freedom of expression."

Ceasefire in Donbass?

February 16th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Minsk reflects pause, not cessation of conflict. Call it a relative calm before a greater storm.

Previous articles explained a durable, sustainable peace in Donbass is pure fantasy.

Two previous ceasefires were agreed on. Followed by partial cessation of hostilities, then resumption of full-scale conflict.

Will this time be different? It hard imagining how given events so far.

Nothing suggests Washington abandoned its intent for total control over Ukraine nationwide - by any means necessary, including full-scale war with US troops directly involved.

Kiev Breaches Minsk Agreement

February 15th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

It didn't surprise. Talks were futile. Kiev straightaway breached what it agreed to.

What it didn't intend observing in the first place. Even though ceasefire and other terms don't officially take effect until February 15.

At the same time, Russia and rebels are consistently blamed for Kiev crimes. Propaganda wars rage. Outrageous Big Lies substitute for hard truths. Western media scoundrels sunk to new lows, if that's possible, given their longstanding scandalous geopolitical misreporting.

Post-Minsk Russia Bashing

February 15th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

It doesn't surprise. Demonizing Russia is longstanding US policy. Presstitute media scoundrels march dutifully in lockstep.

Worse than ever now on Ukraine. Truth-telling obliterated by a daily blitzkrieg of Big Lies. A shocking display of media malpractice.

Progressive Radio News Hour guest Larry Pinkney justifiably calls their reporting "vomit." The good news is growing numbers of people reject it.

The bad news is most still accept what demands rejection. Irresponsible willful deception.

State propaganda masquerading as real journalism. Dangerous stuff driving things inexorably toward East/West confrontation. Like The New York Times headlining "US Faults Russia as Combat Spikes in East Ukraine."
