Putin Responds to US Provocations

June 19th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Make no mistake. America is an aggressor nation threatening world peace, stability and security.

It's permanent war agenda endangers everyone. Its ruthless pursuit of unchallenged dominance wants a ruler-serf world unfit to live in.

It's increasing hostility toward Russia and China may launch WW III. Lunatics in Washington wanted Russia nuked since early Cold War days.

General Curtis LeMay (1906 - 1990) argued for doing it even at the cost of a few US cities. So did General Lyman Lemnitzer (1899 - 1988). They believed nuclear war was inevitable so better sooner than later while America had a clear advantage. They weren't alone from their time to now.

On Tuesday, Vladimir Putin said Russia will act appropriately to US-dominated NATO's encroachment on its borders.

JVP, Alison Weir And the Hatred of the White

June 19th, 2015

By Gilad Atzmon

A month ago, Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) issued a call for a Herem(excommunication, Hebrew) against the remarkable activist and writer Alison Weir. The call was distributed internally amongst JVP’s chapter leaders and was leaked to me by a few JVP dissenters. The publication of the call led to a massive surge of resentment towards JVP within the dissident movement. JVP was compelled to explain their move.

The call for Herem is deeply rooted in Jewish culture. Throughout their history, Jews have called for the expulsion of some of their most articulate and sophisticated minds. Spinoza, and Uriel Da Costa are famous examples. Christ, another dissent voice, found himself nailed to the cross for advising his people to love their neighbours. Though Rabbinical Jews rarely call for a herem, contemporary so-called ‘liberal’ Jews are obsessed with that ugly, primitive medieval ritual.

CIA Human Experimentation

June 18th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Since the early 1950s, CIA operatives conducted physically harsh and psychologically crippling mind control experiments. Human subjects were used as unwitting guinea pigs.

Rules governing CIA activities include Executive Order 12333 (1981) authorizing intrusive spying for counterintelligence purposes. Loophole-ridden provisions permit anything goes.

An ACLU FOIA lawsuit obtained more information on secret CIA domestic spying operations.

Woefully too little is known but more now than a few weeks ago, said the ACLU. Although CIA legal authority to spy at home is limited, earlier congressional investigative committees discovered massive "Operation CHAOS" spying - targeting anti-war activists and political dissenters.

Russia to Counter US Eastern European Buildup

June 18th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

A previous article discussed ongoing US anti-Russian provocations - including plans for troop deployments and heavy weapons positioned near its borders.

Reuters reported US Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James calling Russia "the biggest threat" on her mind - when none whatever exists.

The Air Force may further increase its rotational forces in Europe, she said. What's likely is just "the beginning. There will be more" to come.

"We will be reassuring (our) allies we are standing shoulder to shoulder with them." Air patrols in the Baltics increased. Fifth-generation F-22 stealth warplanes may be stationed in Europe.

Washington wants NATO members to increase military spending - at a time none face external threats except ones they invent. On Monday, Russia's Foreign Ministry said the following:

Reports of its planned Eastern European military buildup "show that the the United States is obviously negotiating with its allies to erode the fundamental provision of the Russia-NATO Founding Act of 1997, under which the alliance pledged to avoid 'additional permanent stationing of substantial combat forces' in" Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Romania and Hungary.

Two Kiev Officials Defect to Donbass

June 18th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

On Monday, former Kiev foreign intelligence service operative Alexei Miroshnichenko and former foreign ministry official Yuri Miroshnichenko held a press conference in Lugansk saying they can no longer tolerate what's ongoing in their country.

They're brothers. One worked in Kiev, the other at Ukraine's embassy in France. "We made the decision voluntarily. We were not compelled to do so," they said.

"We can no longer put up with what is happening in Ukraine. Traitors, fascists, various intelligence agents have taken up the reins of the country, and are leading it to ruin."

Alexei said "the turning point (for him) was (learning) the people of Donetsk and Lugansk are being deliberately exterminated."

House Rejects Fast Track Authority - For Now

June 18th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Baseball great Yogi Berra was right. "It ain't over till it's over." More on this below.

On Friday, House members rejected fast track (Trade Promotion Authority - TPA) by a convoluted process explained below.

If enacted, it would let Obama ram through Congress with minimal hearings and no debate anti-consumer, ecosystem-destroying trade legislation global justice advocates call NAFTA on steroids.

Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade legislation empowers corporations over national sovereignty, domestic laws and popular interests. It's nightmarish by any standard.

Jeb Bush Makes His Presidential Candidacy Official

June 18th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Jeb Bush wants to be president. Why ordinary Americans would want him they'll have to explain.

Hugo Chavez called George Bush "the devil" who thinks he's "the owner of the world." It runs in the family.

All politicians lie. Ignore what Bush says. Understand what he'll do if elected.

He'll continue the same destructive policies wrecking mainstream America to enrich the privileged few he represents more than already - an agenda of endless wars, corporate empowerment, handouts and grand theft without accountability along with police state crackdowns on nonbelievers. America's gulag (at home and abroad) is filled with political prisoners. Its war on humanity risks world peace. It's the same whether Republicans or Democrats run Washington. They're all part of the same dirty system.

U.S. May Position for a War Against Russia Russia Says It Will Respond If U.S. Does So

June 17th, 2015

Eric Zuesse

On Saturday, June 13th, The New York Times bannered, "U.S. Is Poised to Put Heavy Weaponry in Eastern Europe,” and Russia’s response to the announcement wasn’t long in coming.

The Russian equivalent of America’s Wall Street Journal and Britain’s Financial Times, which is Kommersant (or Businessperson), headlined on June 15th, "US may redeploy heavy weapons to the borders of the Russian Federation,” and reported that, "According to sources in the Russian Government, the implementation of this plan will force Moscow to post on the border with the Baltic countries Russia's own offensive military capability that can destroy US facilities in the event of a hypothetical conflict.”

An Evil that must be Wiped from the Earth: Once again, the CIA is wildly out of control

June 17th, 2015

Daniel Patrick Welch

Following is an interview with political analyst Daniel Patrick Welch, addressing recent revelations in The Guardian that the CIA didn't even follow its own guidelines on torture. Welch goes beyond the scope of the most recent leaks, trying to tie in the many connections between imperialism, death squad policy, white supremacy and the *real* Thousand Year Reich. Original article appears at http://presstv.ir/Detail/2015/06/16/416184/CIA-torture-core-feature-imperialism Full transcript here:

The interesting thing about these leaks--which are always prompted by lawsuits: it's impossible to get any clarity or transparency out of the CIA, whose job is to secretly and covertly monitor the world and do all these evil things in the name of the US government--is that occasionally you get the tiniest glimpse of the tip of this enormous iceberg that is the underground world of the CIA.

US Escalates Confrontation with Russia

June 17th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

US anti-Russian provocations began increasing long before Washington's Ukraine coup. More recently, they've grown more belligerent.

Sanctions continue as one element of Obama's strategy despite their ineffectiveness and increased Sino/Russian ties - an alliance challenging US dominance.

A previous article discussed Obama considering aggressive action against Russia - including deploying nuclear-armed missiles in Europe targeting its heartland - on the bogus pretext of Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF 1987) violations.
