Jeb Bush: “People Need to Work Longer Hours.” Media Soften It. Reuters & CNBC, Etc.: "Bush says Americans should have chance to work longer hours in improved economy.”

July 17th, 2015

Eric Zuesse

Jeb Bush, on July 8th:

“My aspiration for the country, and I believe we can achieve it, is 4 percent growth as far as the eye can see. Which means we have to be a lot more productive, workforce participation has to rise from its all-time modern lows. It means that people need to work longer hours, and, through their productivity, gain more income for their families. That's the only way we're going to get out of this rut that we're in.”

Here is his statement in a youtube video of just that 30-second passage (+ 8 seconds):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zLYmwgKPmU

Republican U.S. Presidential candidate Jeb Bush was interviewed in a grainy video on 8 July 2015, by New Hampshire's far-right (i.e., authoritarian) newspaper, Manchester Union-Leader, which interview they buried on their website, but the newsworthy comment in it (cited just above) is at 16:11-16:40 on their buried and muddy-sounding 54-minute-long boring interview video here, where Bush had been asked about his plan for the U.S. economy.

Vladimir Putin States Russia’s New Strategy

July 17th, 2015

Eric Zuesse

Russian President Vladimir Putin presented, on July 3rd, to Russia’s Security Council, the nation’s new National Security Strategy, which encompasses not merely military, but especially economic, agencies within the Russian Federal Government.

Because his statement was ignored in Western ‘news’ media, it will here be presented in full, for individuals who are interested, among the publics in Western countries. As is usual for all of my reports, this one is simultaneously being submitted to all of the major and most of the smaller news media throughout the United States and United Kingdom (as well as some elsewhere), in order for the information to be made available as widely as possible, in ‘the free world.’ (My news reports are available at no charge.)

New IMF Report on Greece Says Projections Are Unrealistically Optimistic

July 17th, 2015

Eric Zuesse

A new IMF report on Greece, issued on Tuesday, July 14th, is titled “AN UPDATE OF IMF STAFF’S PRELIMINARY PUBLIC DEBT SUSTAINABILITY ANALYSIS,” and it says — these are quotations, not paraphrases — in summary:

Greece’s public debt has become highly unsustainable. … The financing need through end-2018 is now estimated at Euro 85 billion. … Greece’s debt can now only be made sustainable through debt relief measures that go far beyond what Europe has been willing to consider so far. … Public debt cannot be assumed to migrate back onto the balance sheet of the private sector at interest rates consistent with debt sustainability until debt is much lower. Greece cannot return to markets anytime soon at interest rates that it can afford. … Medium-term primary surplus target: Greece is expected to maintain primary surpluses for the next several decades of 3.5 percent of GDP. Few countries have managed to do so.

Britain Targets Russian Media

July 16th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Britain, America and other Western nations disgracefully consider real news, information and analysis Russian media provide propaganda - in other words, anything exposing their destructive agenda truthfully.

Britain is obstructing Russia's international news agency Rossiya Segodnya (RS). On orders from Whitehall, Barclays bank froze its account unjustifiably without explanation.

RS was founded in December 2013 - incorporating the former RIA Novosti news service and Voice of Russia international radio. In November 2014, RS launched Sputnik News and Radio Sputnik.

Dmitry Kiselyov heads RS. He blasted what happened - calling it "censorship. To close the account of one of the world's leading news agencies…direct(ly) obstruct(s) journalists' work," he said.

LaRouche PAC Intervention in Manhattan Puts Glass-Steagall on the Global Agenda: 'Senator Clinton, Will You Restore It...?'

July 16th, 2015

LaRouche PAC

July 13 (EIRNS)-It was a mere five words, almost inaudible, even in the video, drowned out by intentional applauding by the crowd, yet history has been changed as a result. "Senator Clinton, will you restore Glass-Steagall?" was the call from LaRouche PAC activist Daniel Burke, made repeatedly from the back of the room, as Clinton was ending her "economic policy" speech-a speech entirely devoid of any content-at the New School in New York City this morning.

There were to be no questions allowed. While Burke was quickly escorted out, and Clinton thus saved by the orchestrated crowd noise, the news had already begun to circulate around the globe.

Tsipras Banishing Ministers Opposing his Sellout

July 16th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

He's governing like a despot. Long knives target opposition ministers. Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis resigned after being pushed out - replaced by Euclid Tsakalotos, in bed with Troika bandits like Tsipras.

After leaving, he said he's no longer under "incredible pressure to negotiate for a position I find difficult to defend…"

He cited the "complete lack of any democratic scruples (displayed by) the supposed defenders of Europe's democracy. (V)ery powerful figures look you in the eye and say '(y)ou're right in what you're saying, but we're going to crunch you anyway."

Netanyahu and AIPAC Vow to Undermine Iran Nuclear Agreement

July 16th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

AIPAC is an unregistered foreign agent. It operates illegally and destructively. It deplores peace. It supports wars of aggression and occupation harshness.

Netanyahu is an unindicted war criminal - a hate-mongering racist heading Israel's fascist regime.

In less than so many words, they declared war on today's important agreement - intending to go all out to subvert it.

AIPAC issued a statement, saying it's committed to "ensur(ing) that Iran does not develop nuclear weapons" - despite the whole world knowing it has no intention of doing so and never did.

Choice for Greeks: Rebel, Leave or Starve

July 16th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Tsipras and likeminded SYRIZA officials proved they're like all the rest - masquerading as populists, governing like corporate tools, ready to unleash police state harshness against public anger over betrayal at its discretion.

The price for new bailout funding (mostly earmarked to pay bankers, not aid its crippled economy) is loss of Greek sovereignty - surrendering it to Troika bandits, a death blow to democracy's birthplace.

On Monday, modern Greece died. Troika coup d'etat rule replaced its elected government - serving monied interests exclusively at the expense of equity, justice and fundamental human rights.

Khader Adnan Rearrested, Then Released

July 16th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Israel's longstanding treatment of Khader Adnan is one of many examples of its viciousness.

His extraordinary courage in the face of Israeli brutality made him a national hero. One day after release following 55 painful hunger striking days for justice, Israeli forces rearrested him - another shocking display of racist persecution all too common against defenseless Palestinians under brutalizing occupation.

Adnan was unjustly imprisoned 10 previous times - held administratively uncharged and untried for political reasons. He committed no crimes.

Life in Donetsk: Resilient Despite Obama's Continuing Proxy War

July 15th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Obama's dirty war of aggression using Ukrainian and imported mercenary forces continues against Donbass residents rejecting fascism - wanting democratic rights everyone deserves.

Since conflict began in April 2014, Kiev's junta regime committed major war crimes. Russia's Investigative Committee (IC) is set to submit hard evidence to international courts, according to its spokesman Vladimir Markin.

"All the evidence that we have collected has been included in more than 2,500 volumes of a criminal case. And the Investigative Committee is ready to hand over these materials to any international court," he said. Russia's IC will continue its investigation on whether other junta war crimes were committed. Despite months of devastating conflict, life in Donetsk remains resilient.
