Russia’s Lavrov Blasts West

July 29th, 2016

Stephen Lendman

Noted for his unmatched world-class diplomacy and seemingly infinite patience in dealing with intractable issues, Lavrov was uncharacteristically blunt in calling the West (meaning America mostly) “a bull in a china shop.”

Perhaps venting frustration over dealing with Washington and its European colonies in trying to resolve major geopolitical issues, he called what’s happening in the Middle East and North Africa “the direct result of a very incompetent and unprofessional attitude to the situation.”

Russia Bombs Secret US/UK Base in Syria

July 29th, 2016

Stephen Lendman

US, NATO and regional rogue state operations in Syria flagrantly breach international law - waging war on a nonbelligerent country without Security Council authorization.

Russia alone among major powers operates legally, invited by Damascus to intervene in combatting terrorism.

America and rogue allies aid and abet what they claim to oppose - systematically raping and destroying Syria, massacring its people, displacing half the population internally or abroad.

According to the Wall Street Journal, “Russian aircraft bombed a remote garrison in southeastern Syria (in June) - a secret base of operations for elite American and British forces.” They were outside the facility when attacked, followed by a second one on a CIA-linked site.

Suspicious Munich Shootings

July 29th, 2016

Stephen Lendman

Munich’s history includes earlier notorious events. In November 1923, Hitler’s putsch attempt failed. Imprisonment, Mein Kampf, his rise to power and WW II followed, changing the course of world history.

During the 1972 Olympic games, Black September figures killed 11 Israeli athletes and coaches, along with a police officer. Five perpetrators were killed, three others arrested, later released, then tracked down and assassinated by Mossad agents.

Friday was the scene of another Munich massacre, killing a reported 10, wounding nearly two dozen others. Police claimed a lone gunman identified as 18-year-old Ali David Sonboly of Iranian descent lethally shot himself.

Democrat War Party Convention Kicks Off Monday

July 28th, 2016

Stephen Lendman

Both wings of America’s duopoly system support endless wars on humanity. They’ll rage under Trump if elected in November. The difference between him and Clinton is he’s less likely to start WW III.

Hillary succeeding Obama is too great an unthinkable risk - a Wall Street tool, a war-profiteer’s dream, a ruthless rogue actor, the greatest threat to world peace of any presidential aspirant in US history.

Don’t let her gender fool you. She’s more demon than Democrat, more war goddess than peace advocate. Humanity’s fate hangs in the balance if she’s commander-in-chief of America’s military.

Russia Changed the Dynamic in Syria

July 28th, 2016

Stephen Lendman

Interviewed by Cuba’s Prensa Latina, Assad explained how Moscow’s intervention shifted the balance of power on the ground, saying:

“Since the Russians decided to intervene in supporting legally the Syrian Army in fighting the terrorists in Syria, mainly al-Nusra and ISIS and some other affiliated groups, the scales have been tipped against those terrorists, and the Syrian Army has made many advancements in different areas in Syria.”

“And we are still moving forward, and the Syrian Army is determined to destroy and to defeat those terrorists.”They’re recruited from over 100 nations, waging “aggression against Syria,” supported by Western and regional countries, Assad explained. Russia turned the tide against them.

Turexit Next

July 28th, 2016

Gilad Atzmon

According to Iranian media, Turkish President Erdogan was warned by Russian intelligence of the impending coup just hours before tanks appeared in the capital’s streets.

Intercepted transmissions included helicopter communications ordering soldiers to arrest or kill the Turkish president in the resort town of Marmaris.

Assuming this is true, why did NATO and American intelligence fail to warn President Erdogan? Were they in the dark about the plot or do they simply embody the true meaning of darkness? More questions are raised by the fact that the headquarters for the attempted coup were located at Incirlik airfield, a major launch pad for NATO and the American forces in the region. Didn’t the Western generals and intelligence officers on the ground notice some ‘unusual activity’? If the Turkish regime is correct and Fethullah Gülen was behind the coup, then some elements within the American intelligence community must have been aware of the pro NATO plot. But they failed to inform their Turkish alley.

The Spectacle of Sanders in Philadelphia As Hillary Puppet

July 28th, 2016

Stephen Lendman

Sanders didn’t just fall from grace. He crashed, burned and resoundingly proved politicians can never be trusted.

Nothing they say is credible. For months, supporters believed he was the anti-Clinton, campaigning against what she represents - an agenda of endless wars of aggression, world peace at risk, neoliberal harshness, police state terror, the worst of all possible worlds.

She’s the most recklessly dangerous choice for president in US history, the most wicked, the most legally, ethically and morally challenged In mid-July, Sanders sold out, betrayed his loyal supporters, proved himself just another self-serving dirty politician by endorsing Clinton, embarrassing himself in the process.

On day one of the Democrat War Party convention, he again made a spectacle of himself before a nationwide audience - assuming the role of Clinton puppet, relegating himself to irrelevance.

WikiLeaks Exposes DNC’s Rigged Process for Clinton

July 28th, 2016

Stephen Lendman

A race to be Democrat nominee never existed, things rigged from the start last year to select Clinton party standard bearer.

The process was like holding a world series or super bowl with only one team represented.

Sanders never had a chance and knew it, enjoying his extended 15 minutes of fame while it lasted - caving in the end as expected, endorsing what he campaigned against, betraying supporters, proving he’s just another dirty self-serving politician. Last week’s WikiLeaks revelations of thousands of DNC emails showed party support for Clinton, plotting against Sanders, rigging things to make her party nominee.

Bernie Should Take the Anti-Christ's Advice

July 28th, 2016

Greg Palast

Bernie's campaign is just beginning. No kidding. The real campaign. The one he was chosen for.

I got this idea of what Bernie and Berners should do from Satan, from the Anti-Christ. Or, as you might know him from television, the Reverend Pat Robertson. That’s correct: the berzerko right wing televangelist – and one of the most brilliant men I've ever met.

Years ago, the Guardian asked me to investigate Rev. Pat’s diabolical plan to create the first web-only bank. (The goofy bank caper was foiled when The Guardian reported on his less-than-savory financial dealings that would likely disqualify him from getting a bank charter.)

Reign of Terror Accelerates in Turkey

July 28th, 2016

Stephen Lendman

Crises create opportunities for leaders to more easily do what otherwise would be harder, not feasible or practicable.

Turkey’s Erdogan is taking full advantage - mass arresting regime critics in the wake of last Friday’s real or state-sponsored rebellion - practically stillborn when launched. Perhaps it was planned this way.

He and prime minister Binali Yildirim vowed retaliation against US-based cleric Fethullah Gulen and his “movement,” accusing him of orchestrating Friday events - despite no corroborating evidence.Calling his supporters a “parallel terrorist organization,” he vowed to “dig them up by their roots so that no clandestine terrorist organization will have the nerve to betray our blessed people again.”

According to Reuters, Turkish “(a)uthorities (so far) suspended or detained close to 20,000 soldiers (including 26 generals and admirals remanded to custody), police, judges and civil servants” since last Friday - an astonishing number so swiftly, subjects likely preselected, targeted in the wake of what happened, perhaps many more to come.
