Ferguson, Ethnicity and American Idealism

August 21st, 2014

by Tracy Turner

The 4-decades after the Watt's riots were a period of growth ultimately resulting in an African American President and First Family as well as black journalists such as Glenn Ford; numerous black judges in all branches of courts including the Supreme Court and in the House and Senate.

Quoted from USA Today, "FERGUSON, Mo. — St. Louis County prosecutors plan to begin presenting evidence Wednesday to a local grand jury as part of an investigation into the fatal shooting of Michael Brown, a spokesman said Tuesday.

Edward Magee, spokesman for St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch, said local investigators have interviewed Ferguson police Officer Darren Wilson and he will be "offered the opportunity'' to testify if he chooses.”

KIev's Dirty War

August 21st, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Rogue terror states wage wars the same way. America does it. So does Israel.

Kiev's illegitimate fascist government operates extrajudicially. Rule of law principles don't apply.

Dirty war is waged on its own non-combatant men, women and children. Residential neighborhoods are bombed and shelled.

Banned chemical and other terror weapons are used. Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) member of parliament Miroslav Rudenko said:

"According to our soldiers' information, the Ukrainian forces are using chemical ammunition on DPR territory."

"Once a shell bursts, a gas affecting sense organs is emitted. We have this information."

In early June, Southeastern Ukrainian freedom fighters said Kiev forces attacked Semyonovka near Slaviansk with an unknown chemical weapon.

Failure in Cairo

by Stephen Lendman

It didn't surprise. Failure was inevitable. Talks were dead on arrival. Israeli policy is hardline. It's all take and no give.

Rogue terror states operate this way. Israel is one of the worst. It's a democracy in name only.

It treats Palestinians like subhumans. It considers its Arab citizens fifth column threats.

It ignores fundamental international laws. It violates them repeatedly. It does so unaccountably.

Its negotiators were told to maintain status quo conditions at all costs. Demand everything. Give little or nothing in return.

Delay, make new demands, and deny Palestinians what they most want and deserve. Long denied justice remains elusive.

A Summary of the Situation in Embattled 'New Russia,' Ukraine's Southeast

Video: A Summary of the Situation in the Embattled Novorossiya

Translation from Russian by Alan and Alya Bailey, Subtitles by Marcel Sardo / Edited by Olga L. and Gleb Bazov

Alexey Mozgovoy: The peaceful population is being eliminated using missiles. These actions make the civilian population leave their homes. So, generally speaking, Kiev does not need the population; it is irrelevant in the area where they plan to conduct fracking.

There’s already a drilling rig in Slavyansk and it’s starting its work. The equipment for building the rigs has already been delivered to a little settlement near Slavyansk. So what use is there for the population? It’s not needed there. The complete elimination of the population is being covered up by the so-called ATO [Anti-Terrorist Operation -- the 'terrorists' are the local residents there].

“The Residents of Slavyansk have disappeared; the town is being re-populated with migrants from Western Ukraine.”

August 20th, 2014

In Slavyansk, occupied by Ukrainian troops, the local residents have practically disappeared. The town is being inundated with migrants speaking in a foreign dialect, who take over the housing of those who left to escape the Ukrainian bombing campaign. This is reported by one of very few residents of Slavyansk who, trusting Ukrainian official propaganda, made the decision to return to his native city. The picture that he saw is terrifying. He realized that the information about residents of Slavyansk returning home is nothing but a vile lie.

“Please, heed our plea! The people have disappeared from Slavyansk!

Police Brutality in America

August 20th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Justice in America is a four-letter word. Killer cops mock it. Nearly always with impunity.

A badge lets them brutalize and kill. Blacks, Latinos and ethnic minorities suffer most. They're targets of choice.

The ACLU calls Ferguson, MO "Everytown, USA." Police brutality occurs multiple times daily across America.

In big cities. In small ones. In urban areas. In rural ones. Militarized policed make their own rules. They operate extrajudicially.

They kill with impunity. On August 9, officer Darren Wilson murdered 18-year-old Michael Brown. He executed him in cold blood.

Brown was unarmed. He posed no threat. He had no criminal record. An independent autopsy showed he was shot six times.

Israel Faces its Own Evil

August 20th, 2014

By Gilad Atzmon

Earlier today, just a few hours before the ceasefire collapsed, sources in Jerusalem have disclosed that Israel and the US have agreed to gradually lift the blockade of the Gaza Strip, starting with the land crossings and eventually opening up sea traffic. Hamas, so it seemed, has achieved all of its objectives in the latest round of violence. With sparse resources, limited fire power and obsolete ballistic technology, Hamas managed to bring Israel to its knees. Plainly, the war was unwinnable for the IDF. Israel invaded the Gaza strip without establishing its own military objectives. The Israeli Government sent its soldiers into the streets of Gaza without understanding its own military, political or diplomatic aims. Both the IDF and the Israeli government were attempting to appease Israeli popular demand for revenge. The Israeli people felt humiliated by the Palestinian rockets. These largely harmless homemade rockets interfered with Israeli escapist philosophy. The rockets’ flare reminded Israelis that there are another people who claim the land, and this people, the Palestinians, are named after the land. Once again polls confirmed that Israelis were bloodthirsty, they wanted to wipe out the Palestinians for good, and the populist Netanyahu government rushed to deliver.

Gaza Ceasefire Extended

August 20th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Monday's ceasefire deadline was extended another 24 hours. It was set to expire at midnight local time.

Talks continue for a permanent ceasefire. Long denied justice for beleaguered Palestinians remains elusive.

It's hard knowing how another day, week or month will achieve what never before was possible.

Israel is a lawless, racist, apartheid rogue terror state. It's all take and no give. It wants its interests alone served. It wants fundamental Palestinian rights denied.

It wants Gazans isolated under siege. It wants brutalizing occupation continued.

It wants Palestinian self-determination avoided at all costs. It wants the right to keep stealing Palestinian land.

Kiev's War Without Mercy Continues

August 20th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Kiev fascists are murdering their own Southeastern citizens in cold blood. They're doing it with full support and complicity from Washington.

Russia's RIA Novosti news service quoted Deputy Chairman of the Duma Committee on Defense, Franz Klintsevich, saying:

Use of ballistic missiles against Lugansk civilians "suggests that the Ukrainian security forces have been granted carte blance from the Americans.""They do not care what Russia says, what the international community or even Europe says today."

"They got their carte blanche, and while it remains active they want to deal with the situation in Donetsk as quickly as possible."

Using ballistic missiles against civilian neighborhoods shows how far Kiev and Washington will go to solidify hardline neo-Nazi-infested fascist rule.

Ferguson Exposes the Reality Of Militarized, Racist Policing

August 19th, 2014

By Kevin Zeese and Margaret Flowers

This is a teachable moment for the nation that presents an opportunity to transform policing so it serves the people.

The killing of Michael Brown by a Ferguson, MO police officer, who was identified Friday as Darren Wilson, and the aftermath in which nonviolent protesters and reporters were met with a violent and militarized police force have exposed something that has been building for years. Many have written about the militarization of the police and the disproportionate impact they have on people of color, but now more Americans are seeing this reality and cannot escape it.

Michael Brown is one of four unarmed black men killed in the last month by police. On July 17, Eric Garner was killed by an illegal chokehold in New York. On August 5, John Crawford was shot in a store in Beavercreek, OH. Just after Brown’s death, on August 9 Ezell Ford, a young man with known mental illness, was shot in Los Angeles. These are four examples of many, according to a recent study, a black man is killed every 28 hours by police, security guards or vigilantes. The whole nation is experiencing these tragedies; reality is being forced upon us.
