Syria, ethnic cleansing in Palestine…and the world still complains about terror!!!!!!

July 2nd, 2015

By Khalid Amayreh in occupied Palestine

The recent acts of terror in Kuwait, Tunisia and elsewhere must be condemned in the strongest terms. In the final analysis, killing innocent human beings, regardless of their race or creed, is totally unacceptable.

This is stated rather plainly and unequivocally in the Holy Quran, Islam's Holy Scriptures, in Suratul Maeda, verse 18:
“Because of that We ordained for the Children of Israel that if anyone killed a person not in retaliation of murder, or (and) to spread mischief in the land - it would be as if he killed all mankind, and if anyone saved a life…"

But condemnation alone is not enough.

We must understand the terror phenomenon objectively, irrespective of parochial political calculations. Otherwise, terror will continue to ruin nations and claim more and more innocent lives.

Turkish Military Says No to False Flag

July 1st, 2015

Michael Collins
erdogansink

The main purpose of the proposed Turkish military action against Syrian is to keep President Erdogan in power so the president can keep himself and his family out of jail.

Imagine events in 2003 had the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff responded to the order to invade Iraq by suggesting that President George W. Bush needed to exhaust all diplomatic options before any action by the military. That’s exactly what’s happening right now in Turkey. (Image)

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu used the National Security Board to order an invasion of Syrian territory. Erdogan fears that Syrian Kurds are creating an autonomous Kurdish state in the section of northeastern Syria under their control. The president claims that Kurdish fighters are forcing Arabs and Turkmens to leave the region in a form of ethnic cleansing.

Israel and Its Lobby Aim to Sabotage an Iranian Nuclear Deal

July 1st, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

On April, 1, P5+1 countries and Iran agreed on framework terms ahead of aiming for resolving remaining issues by June 30.

Whether possible remains to be seen. Israel and its US lobby are going all-out to sabotage talks.

A June 11 article discussed Iranian spying on hotels used for P5+1 talks - to acquire and pass on information to congressional members and others aiming to prevent a fair and equitable Iranian nuclear deal.

National security adviser Yossi Cohen heads an Israeli team including foreign ministry, defense and nuclear energy officials coming to Washington this week to meet with Obama's national security advisor Susan Rice and likely others.

CIA director John Brennan and Joint Chiefs chairman General Martin Dempsey met separately with top Israeli officials days earlier.

EU Bashes "Russian Propaganda"

July 1st, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Western major media march to the same drummer - dutifully regurgitating managed news misinformation garbage, willfully burying hard truths on issues mattering most.

Alternative sources beholden to truth and full disclosure operate by different standards - engendering ire among Western nations wanting their high crimes suppressed - bashing sources revealing them.

The EU Observer (EUO) claims independent credentials while supporting policies responsible news sources denounce. Independently reporting hard truths isn't its long suit. Its editor, Lisbeth Kirk, is the wife of former Danish European Parliament member Jens-Peter Bonde. Human Rights Watch's European and Central Asian advocacy director Veronika Szente Goldston calls its journalists "the most in-your-face in Brussels."

Israel Hijacks Humanitarian Ship to Gaza in International Waters

July 1st, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Gaza has been lawlessly blockaded for nine years - entirely for political, not security reasons. Israel wants its 1.8 million people slowly suffocated.

Flotilla III is the latest humanitarian mission bringing vital aid - symbolic of how much more is needed and a call for world leaders to intervene responsibly for suffering Gazans, victimized by Israeli viciousness.

The latest news from Ship to Gaza Sweden reads as follows:

"Marianne and the #FreedomFlotilla right now Boarded by Israeli navy in international waters

Distance to Gaza: 97 nautical miles

Last known position: 31.716667 latitude, 32.550000 longitude

Greece Declares Bank Holiday, Capital Controls Imposed

July 1st, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Fast-moving weekend events included an impasse in bailout talks, Greek MPs approving a July 5 referendum on whether to accept or reject greater Troika austerity demands, its refusal to extend bailout aid, and the ECB capping Greece's Emergency Liquidity Assistance (ELA) instead of cutting it off entirely as some media reported.

Word is it'll decide day-to-day whether to lend insolvent Greek banks more funds to prevent their declaring bankruptcy and closing down altogether.

Earlier, Greek banks could borrow through private markets. No longer with access cut off - dependent wholly on ECB funding. On Sunday, it signaled additional steps would be taken as needed to prevent Eurozone contagion - likely greater QE than its current 60 billion euro monthly bond buying program.

ISIS: US Proxy Foot Soldiers

July 1st, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Washington recruits, arms, trains, funds and directs ISIS terrorists the same way they used Mujahideen fighters in the 1980s against Soviet Russia in Afghanistan as well as Al Qaeda and likeminded takfiri groups today.

They're US proxy foot soldiers against independent governments Washington wants replaced with pro-Western ones, or in the case of Iraq, weakened and balkanized like Yugoslavia for easier control.

Iraqis don't believe America wants ISIS defeated. On June 25, the Wall Street Journal reported Anbar province Sunni Iraqi "unanim(ity) about whom to blame for their misery."

Shiite lawmaker Alia Nusseif said "(w)e don't have any trust in Americans anymore…ISIS is being used as a tool by America to divide and weaken Iraq."

Troika Intends Starving Greece Into Submission

June 30th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Eurozone, ECB and IMF officials' treatment reveal the latest example of predatory capitalist viciousness.

Since Greece's financial crisis erupted in 2009, imposed austerity diktats incrementally transferred its wealth, assets and enterprises to Western interests at the expense of a 25% GDP drop, mass impoverishment and unemployment (60% for youths), elimination of vital public services, and a brain drain of its best and brightest.

SYRIZA Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras promised austerity relief, caved to Troika demands, then refused further accommodation last week.

Greece is effectively bankrupt. Without bailout help, it's unable to pay its bureaucrats and keep its economy from collapsing. At the same time, accepting greater debt peonage on Troika terms assures an endless downward cycle to oblivion.

Tsipras announced a July 5 national referendum to allow Greeks to decide up or down whether to accept or reject their demands.

BDS Effect on Israel's Economy

June 30th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

The most effective way to fight Israeli occupation harshness is economic - hitting it in the pocket book where it hurts.

BDS efforts continue gaining important victories. Cumulatively they gain momentum for more. BDS co-founder Omar Barghouti knows boycotts work. Last year he explained why Israel fears them, saying:

Netanyahu "declared BDS a strategic threat. Calling it the 'delegitimization' movement, he assigned the overall responsibility for fighting it to his Strategic Affairs Ministry." BDS challenges Israeli persecution of Palestinians for not being Jewish. It's "the root cause of its growing worldwide isolation," Barghouti explained.

Viewing BDS as a strategic threat reveals Israel's "heightened anxiety" fearing loss of its mainstream acceptance. It reflects its Foreign Ministry Brand Israel campaign failure.

Khader Adnan Ends Hunger Strike

June 30th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Khader Adnan's lawyer Jawad Boulos said he "ended his (55-day) hunger strike (Sunday night) after an agreement was reached to release him on July 12."

At Israel's Assaf Harofeh Medical Center where he's held, he was moved to where he'll begin being fed - perhaps intravenously at first along with ingesting liquids. He took his first sip of milk on Sunday.

"Khader Adnan is sending his greeting to you all, every man and woman, every person who supported him, and those who gathered here," said Boulos.

"He was very moved when (supporters) chant(ed) for his release. He sends his regards to the Palestinian people in Jerusalem, and historic Palestine, and every person who supported his struggle. He wishes to see you all in his home in Arraba Jenin, once he is released."
