Daily Israeli War Crimes in Palestine

October 15th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Israel is attacking defenseless Palestinians with lethal force and vicious propaganda - reflecting state terror fueled by longstanding racist hate, wanting maximum land for Jews only, and having Palestinians confined to isolated ghettoized bantustans, deprived of all rights and resources.

Israeli and Western media support this hideous agenda, long ago abandoning any sense of objectively, siding now with Netanyahu and likeminded fascists, terrorizing Palestinians unaccountably. Palestinian lives, safety, rights and welfare don’t matter. For nearly 70 years, Israel has waged a war of extermination and ethnic cleansing against millions of defenseless people, notably since occupation in June 1967.

CBS’ 60 Minutes Interviews America’s Liar-in-Chief

October 15th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Obama is an unindicted war criminal, a shameless demagogue, a serial liar, a moral coward, a disgrace to the office he holds.

On Sunday, CBS correspondent Steve Kroft interviewed him on 60 Minutes - giving him a prominent propaganda platform, everything pre-scripted, largely asking softball questions instead of holding a rogue president’s feet to the fire responsibly.

Not a chance on mainstream television, a medium for the proliferation of Big Lies on issues mattering most, notably when government officials or retired generals and admirals are interviewed.

Were Deadly Ankara Blasts a False Flag?

October 15th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s repressive regime had motive and easy opportunity. We’ll likely never know for sure if he or his fascist cronies were responsible. Suspicions are warranted.

On Saturday, multiple deadly blasts rocked Ankara, targeting a Labor, Peace (and) Democracy rally, protesting Turkey’s war on Kurds - killing at least 95 people, injuring around 250 more, over 50 in intensive care with serious injuries. Some may not survive. Nine policemen were slightly injured, none killed. The blasts apparently didn’t target them. Angry activists on the scene shouted “police murderers.” Security forces forcibly removed them.

Putin’s Righteous Syrian Mission Continues

October 15th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Putin explained Russian forces trained for their mission. Preparations were made well in advance. Military campaigns require extensive planning and coordination with allies.

Russia was ready when operations began on September 30, its effectiveness catching Washington flat-footed, for the first time facing a real challenge to its regional hegemonic agenda, unable to counter formidable and impressive Russian military strength and determination.

Necessary force strength and equipment were assembled. “We made persistently and for a long time space and air reconnaissance. We analyzed different kinds of information we received,” Putin explained.

Russia’s General Staff coordinated with its counterparts in Syria and other regional countries. “Terrorism threatens very many other countries in the Middle East,” Putin stressed.

Smashing the Abbas icon of Palestinian non – violence

October 14th, 2015

By Nicola Nasser*

Indisputably, the 80 – year old President Mahmoud Abbas has established himself internally and worldwide as the icon of Palestinian non – violence. His Israeli peace partners leave none in doubt that they are determined to smash this icon, which would leave them only with opposite alternatives the best of which is a massive peaceful intifada (uprising) against the Israeli occupation.

It is true that Abbas cannot yet be called the Ghandi of Palestine. He has yet to follow in the footsteps of the founder of modern India and deliver similar national results by leading a massive popular revolution for liberation and independence, but his strictly adhered to non – violence platform continues to be the prerequisite for any peaceful settlement of the Arab – Israeli conflict in and over Palestine.

The ‘US Way of War’ from Columbus to Kunduz

October 14th, 2015

By Kevin Zeese and Margaret Flowers

The confluence of Columbus Day Weekend and the Kunduz hospital bombing has us thinking about the deep levels of cultural violence in the United States and what can be done to change it. How does the US move from a country dominated by war culture to one dominated by a humanitarian culture? And, how do we do it in time to avoid war with China and Russia, which both advanced closer this week.

What does Celebrating Columbus say About the Character of the United States?

Popular Resistance has reported on the the legacy of Columbus. Howard Zinn describes the true history of Columbus and the Indigenous people of North America. There is a great need for the Columbus myth to be revised with realities. When the truth is understood, it is evident the US is celebrating a brutal war criminal and that it is time to abolish Columbus Day.

After-all, Columbus lost at sea, “discovered” a continent, or an island near it, where up to a hundred million people already lived. He enslaved the indigenous peoples, treating them as workhorse animals and sex slaves; he fed live natives to his dogs and cut off the hands of those who did not work hard enough; he slaughtered tens of thousands, beginning a process of ethnic cleansing across the continent, and his son was one of the originators of the African slave trade.

Putin’s Righteous Mission

October 14th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

The US/UK/Israeli axis is the greatest threat to world peace, Putin its best chance to restore it, to save humanity from the scourge of another global war, a nuclear one if waged too horrible to imagine.

Stopping lunatics in Washington, London and Tel Aviv is crucial. Putin’s mission in Syria directly challenges America’s hegemonic Middle East agenda. His campaign against terrorism hugely disrupts it, a potentially game-changing initiative.

Not according to The New York Times. It’s anti-Putin propaganda is relentless. Its latest edition has it backwards - headlining “ISIS Makes Gains in Syria Territory Bombed by Russia.” More on its Big Lie below.

Netanyahu Unleashes Settler Attacks, Targets Palestinian Hospitals and Patients

October 14th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Netanyahu-ordered state terror continues raging with no end in sight. Heavily armed soldiers, militarized police, border guards and other security forces are systematically terrorizing Palestinians - beating, wounding and murdering them in cold blood.

Police states operate this way, Israel one of the vilest, run by Arab-hating fascists, criminal thugs by any standard, unrestrained brutality their mode of operation - fully supported by Washington.

Netanyahu unleashed extremist settlers to commit “vigilante attacks against Palestinians,” the Yesh Din human rights group explained.

Gandhi Jayanti, Gandhi's Dream

October 13th, 2015

Robert J. Burrowes

On behalf of those of us who struggle to honor Gandhi's legacy to the world, I would like to wish Mohandas Karamchand (Mahatma) Gandhi 'happy birthday!' Gandhi was born on 2 October 1869 and had he defied both the assassin's bullet and the aging process, he would have been 146 years old this year.

In theory, the world celebrates 2 October as the International Day of Nonviolence but it is a day that few remember or commemorate meaningfully. Perhaps this is appropriate given the rather desultory progress we have made in making our world nonviolent. Still, while our scorecard might not be what Gandhi would have hoped nearly 68 years after his death, a number of people are making a committed effort to create this nonviolent world. This effort, by its nature, must be multifaceted. Much of it is mundane; some of it profound. Let me tell you about some of these efforts by people I find pretty inspiring.
