Anti-Trump NYT Blasts His Foreign Policy

March 31st, 2016

Stephen Lendman

He’s a serious presidential contender with unorthodox views on some issues - making him appear anti-establishment, worrying duopoly power brokers and media scoundrels supporting them.

Wide-ranging interviews with NYT and Washington Post editors, as well as opinions expressed separately, showed his foreign policy views differ considerably from other candidates.

“I want to get along with Russia,” he said, calling good relations “very good…I’d get along very well with Vladimir Putin.”

“I want to get along with all countries, and we will,” he said, calling his approach to world affairs “unabashedly noninterventionist.”

He opposes expensive worldwide nation-building projects while America’s infrastructure deteriorates.

Hillary’s Phony Way to Defeat ISIS

March 31st, 2016

Stephen Lendman

Her public record as first lady, US senator and secretary of state shows rage for endless premeditated wars of aggression.

A Clinton presidency assures permanent wars on humanity, raping more countries than already, risking direct confrontation with Russia and China - the horror of possible nuclear war.

I’ve explained many times ISIS and likeminded terrorist groups are US creations, unable to function without foreign support.

Stopping them requires no longer recruiting new fighters, ending funding, arming, training and directing them - waging peace, not war, an agenda America rejects.

Clinton’s phony “real plan” to “beat ISIS” is cover for supporting permanent war. Last week she twittered:

“Hillary has a three-part plan to defeat ISIS in the Middle East, around the world, and here at home:

Fidel Rips Imperial America

March 31st, 2016

Stephen Lendman

Approaching age 90 this summer, Fidel Castro’s physical capability isn’t what it used to be. His intellect remains keen, his judgment sound, his passion for keeping Cuba free from US predation and control uncompromising. On March 20, Obama arrived in Cuba representing former US colonial control over the island state, wanting it regained in new form - intolerable for the vast majority of Cubans, unwilling to sacrifice their socially responsible sovereign state to yankee imperialism.

Obama snubbed Fidel during his visit, disgracefully meeting with anti-government dissidents instead, symbolic of US hubris and arrogance. On March 28, Fidel commented, his article titled “Brother Obama,” blasting US imperialism, saying:

“We don’t need the empire to give us anything. Our efforts will be legal and peaceful, because our commitment is to peace and fraternity among all human beings who live on this planet” - anathema to America’s ruling class.

Obama’s Fakery, ‘News’ Media’s Suckery

March 31st, 2016

Eric Zuesse

How can it be that the same news-medium that reported, on 22 April 2015, that the Obama Administration allows countries it signs trade-pacts with to murder their trade-union organizers and insists upon continuing to permit those murders, has now also reported on 24 March 2016, "The Obama Administration Just Took A Huge Step On Worker Safety: It’s known as the silica rule, and it’s a big frigging deal”? This new Obama-Administration ‘rule’ won’t even be enforceable, but that ‘news’ medium failed to notice that this ‘big frigging deal’ is actually only a con by Obama — nothing more than empty words and promises, nothing at all that’s likely to be enforceable (because bigger actions by him, which they had reported earlier, are intended to make any such new rule virtually unenforceable).

Obama Won’t Meet with Erdogan in Washington

March 30th, 2016

Stephen Lendman

They’re close allies, partnering in each other’s high crimes. They last met in Washington for a state visit in 2013. Not this time on the occasion of Erdogan attending a DC Nuclear Security Summit (NSS 2016) on March 31 and April 1. According to the Wall Street Journal, Obama declined to “join him for the inauguration of a Turkish-funded mosque in Maryland” or at the White House for a formal visit.

They last met at the G20 summit in Turkey last November and spoke by phone last month. Delegations from 51 nations will attend the summit.

Obama has only one scheduled face-to-face meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The Journal calling Erdogan a key US partner against ISIS is an utter perversion of truth. He partners with Washington in supporting the terrorist group.

Pakistan: March 23 Resolution - Forgotten Imperatives of a Progressive Nation

March 30th, 2016

Mahboob A. Khawaja, PhD.

If you wish to view the screen of virtual reality of Pakistan’s politics - come and see the mirror - how Pakistan is being governed by the wrong people, with wrong thinking and doing the wrong things. Continued daily bloodbaths of the innocent civilians triggered by terrorism, overwhelming militarization of the public institutions, destroyed commerce and trades and non-productive economic culture have incapacitated the operational body of Pakistan. Its existence and freedom are challenged by its own political rulers. The thinking hubs of the nation must initiate planned steps and organize revulsionary collective ideas and ideals to deter threats to the national freedom, integrity and future of Pakistan. Those who embrace power through intrigues, gangesterism, political killings, military coups and backdoor conspiracies are not the legitimate rulers and answer to the aims of the peoples’ aspirations for a strong Pakistan. The priorities must be focused on developing a new system of economic and political governance by disconnecting the interdependence on foreign aid, debts and dictates. The nation has been dehumanized to its critical and painful juncture of very survival. Under the circumstances, what is there to celebrate a Pakistan Day of March 23? The symbolic Pakistan Day celebrations will remain devoid of much needed change and reformation goal of the institutionalized corrupt system of governance. Pakistan is in desperate need of political change and a new political system of governance to safeguard its national freedom and a sustainable future.

NYT Trump Interview

March 30th, 2016

Stephen Lendman

Modesty isn’t a Trump attribute. He says he’ll be Republican nominee and “beat Hillary Clinton easily in” November.

In a wide-ranging NYT interview, he expressed views on numerous topics - far different from what US presidential aspirants usually say, making him appear anti-establishment.

Party bosses aren’t sure they can control him, why dark forces want him stopped, going all-out to undermine his campaign.

As president, he might halt buying oil from Saudi Arabia and other Arab states unless they commit ground forces to help wage US wars or “substantially reimburse” Washington for its regional combat operations, he said.

“If Saudi Arabia was without the cloak of American protection, I don’t think it would be around,” he claimed.

U.S. Leaders Are Hucksters

March 29th, 2016

Eric Zuesse,

Here is Bill Clinton, the U.S. President who served Wall Street by removing all regulations on derivatives-trading and by ending FDR’s Glass-Steagall Act separation of investment-banking from consumer-banking, now telling an audience, that his successor George W. Bush had done this, and that Bush’s successor Barack Obama has unfortunately continued it. He said this on March 21st when explaining why everyone should vote for his wife to undo the ”awful” and “trickle-down” legacy of George W. Bush and Barack Obama:

"If you believe we can all rise together, if you believe we’ve finally come to the point where we can put the awful legacy of the last eight years behind us and the seven years before that when we were practicing trickle-down economics and no regulation in Washington, which is what caused the crash, then you should vote for her because she’s the only person who basically had good ideas, will tell you how she’s going to pay for them, can be commander in chief, and is a proven change maker with Republicans and Democrats and independents alike.”

Israel’s Brutal Military

March 29th, 2016

Stephen Lendman

Israel’s military is like America’s, two of the world’s most ruthless. Both ignore international law. Rules of engagement are anything goes.

Premeditated wars of aggression are waged without mercy, civilians and nonmilitary related sites considered legitimate targets, populations under their control terrorized.

Mass slaughter and destruction are considered OK. America and Israel partner in each other’s high crimes. Who’ll dare intervene to stop them?

Who’ll enforce international law? Who’ll protect the rights of defenseless people?

Massacred and brutalized Afghans, Iraqis, Syrians, Libyans, Yemenis, Somalis, Palestinians and others attest to the brutality of two rogue states, fascist regimes masquerading as democratic ones. The cold-blooded murder of a seriously wounded defenseless Palestinian by an Israeli soldier authorized to “shoot to kill” sparked widespread outrage.

It was business as usual for the self-styled world’s “most moral army,” responsible for around 210 extrajudicial assassinations of Palestinian civilians in the last six months alone.

The Owner of Rolling Stone Endorses Hillary Clinton for President

March 29th, 2016

Eric Zuesse

His name is Jann Wenner, and he says he endorses her because, "Hillary Clinton is one of the most qualified candidates for the presidency in modern times.” He doesn’t explain what he means by that.

Here are her qualifications — it's her actual record, as the U.S. Secretary of State, and links are also provided there to her record as U.S. Senator before that. She was Senator for 8 years, and was Secretary of State for one 4-year term. (Prior to that, she was First Lady for 8 years, no government-decisionmaker.) Her opponent Bernie Sanders was U.S. Congressman for 18 years, and U.S. Senator for 10 years. (Prior to that, he was a political demonstrator and activist for many years, and was sent to jail in the early 1960s for leading a Chicago demonstration against racial segregation, and he was also the Mayor of Burlington Vermont, prior to being elected to Congress.)
