The Kitty Litter Kos

Robin

My own minor experience posting as a commenter on the Dkos was quite frankly a nightmare. Freedom of speech which we are granted in our Constitution simply doesn't exist at the so-called largest "progressive" blog in America. The utter banality of some of the comments there is one thing, for instance pictures of kitty litter boxes and recipes left as comments, but the coniving paranoid attacks on ANYONE who doesn't tow the line on the Palestinian issue is a spectacle for all to see. In their very own Diskopedia they can't even make up their mind under the definition of "progressive" on the Israeli Palestinian issue. It keeps changing!! One day it says one thing, the next day another, and now QUITE a different thing from what it said just a few weeks ago. It now states:

"Position on Israel/Palestine - One important issue that many progressives consider a linchpin to peace in the Middle-East and a possible root cause of some of the fundamentalist Islamic terrorism is the Israel-Palestine conflict. The unresolved Israeli-Palestinian conflict sometimes spills over into neighboring countries like Lebanon. Most progressives support an end-of-conflict,two-state peace settlement between Israel and Palestine: Israel must give up the West Bank and share Jerusalem; the Palestinians must limit realization of a right of return to Palestine itself and make Israel feel secure as a Jewish state. The United States should play an active, consistent role in promoting such a peace settlement."

Given this newest definition of the "progressive" position on this issue, NO ONE can even utter the words "right of return" without risking certain ostracizing, but what is absolutely mind-boggling, is that the discussion of WHAT is going on under the occupation and how brutal it is, is not allowed either. It is NOT enough to state you are for a two-state solution (which is one option) WITHOUT discussing the occupation IN DETAIL. Every single pro-Palestinian poster was picked to tiny shreds, their entire backgrounds researched, and any possible "links" to anything, and I do mean ANY LINKS were used against them. In my case, the minute I appeared to have any knowledge of the subject matter they ran to their little meters and "researched" me. I was told I had TOO much knowledge, my prior comments were posted and they even told me they would find out just who I was and my days were numbered.

I'll be quite honest, the idea of using the Dkos as a venue to try to be open and honest is an oxymoron in itself. That whole "sockpuppet" accusation going on over there was just so utterly inmature I was amazed. The only "sockpuppet" I ever knew about were the ones I played with my children with!! And why was I so suspicious? Simply because I had at that time only commented eight times, three times on Sabbah's diary and five times on Eileen's. Their site just frankly for lack of better words, SUCKS.

Now these folks, these policeman of the internet, have taken action in a bold move. But that's the thing, in their bold move, they have confirmed what we all have known all along, they are NOT what they say they are, they are NOT for a peaceful solution to the Palestinian issue if they will not even allow open discussion of the FACTS. It is certainly a leap of logic to say that discussing FACTS equals anti-semitism and then once you receive this lable you are to be tossed to the trashbin. Grow up DailyKos, and realize you have been outed for your hypocrisy and blatant censorship. Now extending your tentacles to even lobby Google on this issue. If Dkos has something to say why not say it in the appropriate place. WHY try to silence people when we are SUPPOSED to be adults with brains?

Last note. When I signed up as a commenter at the DailyKos, my name, Robin, had already been taken, so I used my parent's nickname for me. I was NOT a "sock-puppet" of which I and so many were accused, in fact NONE of the pro-Palestinian bloggers with their own blogs were sockpuppets. Each and every one of them is a real person with their own long-standing identities. OBVIOUSLY posting on the Daily Kos was bad news, but all is not lost. It served it's purpose to our advantage in the end, the Daily Kos has been exposed, word is getting out, and anyone reading about it for the first time should be intrigued enough to see for themselves just what it was that was being said that some certain entities sought to SILENCE rather than offer up any possible plausible alternative.

Ya gotta love it when one person or group dictates the people's collective outlook (especially when that outlook requires an oppressed, stateless, occupied, caged-in, impoverished, and Army-less population to make a US-backed, belligerent, enslaving, occupying, super military power with nukes and armed settlers "feel secure as a Jewish state [sic]"). And of course the Palestinians, as usual, should have to suck up all those progressive losses of property and resources over the years, and give up their return rights.

And about the sockpuppet thing: Seeing as how Israel has typically been a paranoid–schizophrenic, preemptive aggressor — and that, historically, hasbaraniks and other pro-Israel propagandists are prolific character assassins — the chosen stance of the treacherous online monstrosity in question makes perfect sense.
