Psychiatric "Chemical Imbalance Fraud" confirmed by Three New England States

Kevin Hall

BOSTON – Massachusetts, Maine and Rhode Island have released statements undercutting the fraudulent "chemical imbalance of the brain" marketing that is the foundation of billions of psycho-pharmaceutical dollars and the entire mental health diagnosis process.

All six New England state mental health agencies were given FOIA requests to produce documents "showing a) the existence of chemical imbalance of the brain, b) any known test for chemical imbalance of the brain and c) any test that shows what a correct chemical balance of the brain would be." While Vermont, New Hampshire and Connecticut continually refused to answer this very controversial request, the other three New England states admitted to having no such data or documents. (The documents are at www.cchreus.org under "news items.")

"Psychiatry, drug companies and their front groups, like the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, have fraudulently claimed for years that their mental disorders are illnesses that are based on brain chemical imbalances that can only be corrected by psychiatric drugs," said Kevin Hall, New England Director of the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) that was established by the Church of Scientology.

"This data confirms that psychiatry’s drugging and diagnosing have no scientific basis whatsoever."

Per CCHR and other critics of psychiatry, millions of adults and children are merely being dangerously drugged to mask behavioral symptoms which is the same reason people often take street drugs. CCHR also points out that unlike medical illnesses that are found through scientific research and discovery, mental disorders are merely groups of symptoms that are voted into existence by American Psychiatric Association committees.

"In effect, three New England states are now admitting that they have paid billions of dollars to institutionalize people, remove children from families and funnel school children into a mental health system that labels and drugs them for no scientific reason," said Hall. "Cancer and diabetes can be scientifically diagnosed while calling ADHD, anxiety or alcoholism a medical disease is simply a lie. The clothes have been removed from the psychiatric emperor."

For a short video of doctors documenting the fraud of psychiatric marketing, visit the cchreus.org homepage and click on "fraudulent marketing."

The readers should also be aware that CCHR was founded by and is funded by the cult of $cientology. Yes the very one South Park did the show about. No state has ever said what the writer here claims. If it had the funding would have been stopped for mental health programs. Mental disorders have been studied for well over 50 years and everyone of us knows someone who is dealing with it.
Anyone with a little thought can file a FOIA request with types of questions designed to bring a bad responce. And CCHR and $cientology have been known to play with words and numbers in the past. But hey, Go take a look at their silly little web sites. After all the writer even went so far as to quote himself here.
Then go to xenu.net and xenutv.com and see the other side. Don't let him or me push you one way or the next. See both sides for yourself and then you get to decide.

I suppose we should look at Hubbard himself. After all, he is the bastion of sanity and Scientology will be replacing psychiatry. What this article does not mention is that they link psychiatrists to the holocaust and mass murders... Don't believe me? Do a google search for images from Scientology's "Psychiatry : museum of death" exhibit.

But I digress, here are some words from Hubbard himself

"In any event, any person from 2.0 down on the Tone Scale should not have, in any thinking society, any civil rights of any kind, because by abusing those rights he brings into being arduous and strenuous laws which are oppressive to those who need no such restraints."

- L. Ron Hubbard, SCIENCE OF SURVIVAL, 1989 Ed., p. 145 [The "Tone Scale" is Scientology’s measure of mental and spiritual health.]

"There are only two answers for the handling of people from 2.0 down on the Tone Scale, neither one of which has anything to do with reasoning with them or listening to their justification of their acts. The first is to raise them on the Tone Scale by un-enturbulating some of their theta by any one of the three valid processes. The other is to dispose of them quietly and without sorrow."

- L. Ron Hubbard, SCIENCE OF SURVIVAL, p. 170"

Yea... Some great plan there Herr Hubbard.

"’Psychiatry’ and ‘psychiatrist’ are easily redefined to mean ‘an anti-social enemy of the people‘. This takes the kill crazy psychiatrist off the preferred list of professions...The redefinition of words is done by associating different emotions and symbols with the word than were intended...Scientologists are redefining ‘doctor‘, ‘Psychiatry’ and ‘psychology’ to mean ‘undesirable antisocial elements‘...The way to redefine a word is to get the new definition repeated as often as possible. Thus it is necessary to redefine medicine, psychiatry and psychology downward and define Dianetics and Scientology upwards. This, so far as words are concerned, is the public opinion battle for belief in your definitions, and not those of the opposition. A consistent, repeated effort is the key to any success with this technique of propaganda."

- L. Ron Hubbard, Hubbard Communications Office Policy Letter, 5 October 1971, PR Series 12, "Propaganda by Redefinition of Words"

**

"When somebody enrols, consider he or she has joined up for the duration of the universe - never permit an ‘open-minded’ approach... If they enrolled, they’re aboard, and if they’re aboard they’re here on the same terms as the rest of us - win or die in the attempt. Never let them be half minded about being Scientologists... When Mrs. Pattycake comes to us to be taught, turn that wandering doubt in her eye into a fixed, dedicated glare… The proper instruction attitude is, ‘We'd rather have you dead than incapable.’"

- L. Ron Hubbard, KEEPING SCIENTOLOGY WORKING, 7 February 1965, reissued 27 August 1980

**

"A psychiatrist today has the power to (1) take a fancy to a woman (2) lead her to take wild treatment as a joke (3) drug and shock her to temporary insanity (4) incarnate [sic] her (5) use her sexually (6) sterilise her to prevent conception (7) kill her by a brain operation to prevent disclosure. And all with no fear of reprisal. Yet it is rape and murder… We want at least one bad mark on every psychiatrist in England, a murder, an assault, or a rape or more than one… This is Project Psychiatry. We will remove them."

- L. Ron Hubbard, Sec ED, Office of LRH, Confidential, 22 February 1966, "Project Psychiatry"

Yep, these are tame compaired to other things he has said...

This post from and dedicated to a special Lady...

****
LOL Shades of Tom Cruise.
Science fiction writer, bigamist, liar and conman extraordinaire L. Ron
Hubbard would be proud of his Psych Kops, who are still trying to
fulfill Hubbard's impossible mission of destroying Psychiatry and
replacing it with Scientology.

There are chemical and hormonal imbalances that can and do cause mental
and physical problems. Some of them can be and are treated by
medications. Recent research by the medical profession has found a
link between ADD and the mother's use of alcohol and tobacco during
pregnancy. An imbalance of hormones can cause severe post partum
depression, which can NOT be cured by the "vitamin therapy" of Tom
Cruise and Scientology.

Ask L. Ron's "Psych Busters" what proof is there for *ANY* of Hubbard's
"body thetans", "engrams", and "past lives" theories being the cause of
mental AND physical problems.

Ask L. Ron's "Psych Busters" what the Scientology "recommended"
treatment for mental illness is.

From Becky...please read for yourself as pointed out by other posters. Xenu.net is a great source of information.

Thank you.

I used to be a volunteer for Citizens Commission on Human Rights ( CCHR ); I once believed the 'information' they provided me with. I was a Scientologist who thought Dianetics and Scientology were the solutions to the problems of the mentally ill, not the psychs or pharmacutical industry, who were 'our enemies'.

The truth is, the Church of Scientology does not have solutions to help the mentally ill; they do not want to help the mentally ill become healthy nor do they have a technology to help them and others prone to these debilitating conditions.

The mentally ill are poster-boys and poster-girls for CCHR's agenda to destroy Scientology's perceived enemy : first the 'psychs' now the 'pharmas' as they have come to to be known.

This rumor of there not being a "chemical imbalance" was manufactured by CCHR, who conveniently fail to provide commonly known scientific evidence which actually supports the fact that such an imbalance exists. Those 3 state representatives have been hoodwinked by the 'Cult of Scientology' and shame on them for accepting rumor in place of fact when making this accusation.
(If in fact the story os even true to begin with.)

CCHR would have us believe that the FDA knows nothing about chemistry and lacks the best interests of consumers nationwide when approving medications; this is false.

Don't you be hoodwinked, too

The internet abounds in research documentation supporting that a chemical imbalance is at the root of mental illness. Even alternative medicine researchers agree. CCHR does not want you to read these things, They want to imbed your mind with THEIR propaganda because if psychiatry prevails, Scientology dies.
Take a look at some of the information available:
Mental Health Matters article
The "Chemical Imbalance" in Mental Health Problems
http://www.mental-health-matters.com/articles/article.php?artID=160

"Chemical Imbalance - What is Chemical Imbalance, What Causes It ..." http://www.anxiety-and-depression-solutions.com/articles/chemicalimbalance.htm
Read this Fair Use exerpt:

"Common chemical imbalances related to anxiety and depression related disorders that have been observed in clinical practice include:

Reduced availability of neurotransmitters like Serotonin, Dopamine, Norepinephrine, GABA and acetylcholine.

Increased levels of toxic neurochemicals such as Homocysteine
Lower levels of serum Magnesium, Zinc or Potassium

Unhealthy, or deficient levels of essential vitamins like B6, B9, B12 and Vitamin-C

Undersupply of key cofactors like amino acids that are used to help transport neurotransmitter precursors into the blood-brain barrier.

Increased cortisol stress hormone levels

If anyone wants to read how medication effects the chemical balance of the brain or any part of the human body that is ill, all you have to do is read the FDA drug approval reports for whichever medicine you are concerned about:
http://www.fda.gov/cder/approval/index.htm

CCHR and it's mother 'church' Scientology have no alternative solution to help people suffering from brain chemical imbalances.
Dianetic is not even a science and it is only employed to demonstate that one needs the religion called Scientology. Some CCHR volunteers are victims of this cult because they THINK they are helping people and they THINK Scientology and Dianetics are the answers which the mentally ill need - not psychiatry and medication. What is never made known to them is the fact that Scientology and CCHR are not doing this to help the mentally ill. They could care less about the mentally ill, or anyone physically or disabled.

This supposed Church actually bars the ill from participation because illness is like the mark of the beast to them. Here's two of many reports found on alt.religion.scientology google newsgroup discussing their distain of the disabled. Read how charitable CCHR and the Cult of Scientology really are:

Former OC-ORG FBO-Admin
by Rev Dr John Benjamin Tatum DD PhD
"I have wanted to learn more. But now that I have all the time in the world (heck, I even completed my education), they do not seem to want me for staff or Sea Org. Because they see me as
"damaged goods" since I am in a wheelchair. Still send me all of their fliers, but will not take me in (was even willing to go Sea Org). But I did not even get any books, cassettes, or other items because I could not afford them when I was on staff or even now since I have been on disability since February of 1989.

Disabled and Scientology...Questions....?

That is just a fraction of the information on what CCHR and the Church of Scientology are about and it's enough to make one sick.

The IRS should recind the tax exempt status of Citizens Commission on Human Rights and the main Church of Scientology organizations for misrepresentation and using tax-exempt dollars for it's HATE agenda against the mentally ill and the industries that are actually doing something better their lives.

Their manner of attacks and goal of destroy the pharmacutical and psychiatric communities, all under the guise of spiritual need and religion.

Scientology an enemy of the disabled and those chronically in need of medical care. Not only do they shun them Scientology and Dianetics cannot help any one with mental health issues.

Dianetics is not even a science. It's not even modern. If it was, it would help people with mental illness become free of all the mental demons the book talks about. And since that fact could cost the church money, it is a fact they do not want you, the IRS and the FDA to know about. Instead, they've orchestrated a public scheme to attack those that ARE doing something to help the mentally ill:

The mental health field and the pharmacutical companies who make medications, who more often than not help those suffering from mental illness and related disorders.

You would think that Tom Cruise's apology to Brooke Shields would have humbled these nimwits at CCHR 'headquarters'.

I am not a proponient of any of these industries but it is ethically and morally wrong that CCHR and $cientology, acting in collusion, to be allowed to use tax free $$$$ from supposed
"charitable" contributions to attack the very industries that are ACTUALLY helping people. I think it a crime. You should too.

Don't be deceived. Give credit where credit is due.

Charitable,

You listed a site run by lawers who sue doctors for a living. Are we surpost to think that is an independent source? The clear fact is these meds do work when used the way they were intended to be used. Better guildlines and controls are needed.
The black box warnings are proof the system in place works. A problem was found and fixed. The black box warnings do not mean the meds are unsafe. They just help doctor's make better decisions.

I do not condone the abuse of this site. It's purpose is to provide a
source of information to the public. Thank you for bringing this abuse
of the site to my attention. I cannot remove the article because it
would leave a gap on the net. I will be on the lookout for this sort of
thing in the future.

And I didn't even complain to them. But seems they don't like people
posting the same story again under a different name. LOL

I cannot comment on Scientology. I can only say that my beloved son was killed by an Eli Lilly drug, Zyprexa, which is an atypical antipsychotic, in the year 2002. There was no warning on the label and no warning by the doctor, yet other countries had required Lilly to put warnings on the label of the drug in their countries. Where was the FDA? I am sorry to say that they were protecting the drug company, as they continue to do. I think that rather than wasting energy bashing Scientology that those who really care about mental illness need to realize that one hundred thousand people in the U.S. a year die from prescription drugs, that thousands of people with mental illness now have diabetes as well thanks to Zyprexa and other drugs in its class, and etc. Several studies have cast doubt on this class of drugs. And several studies have shown that the FDA Drug Safety Division is weak and ineffectual; a tool of the pharmaceutical industry. If you have time to be on this site, you have time to bone up on this catastrophe and write your Congressman and demand action. It will take Congress to strengthen the FDA and make it truly protect the public health instead of the bottom lines of the pharmaceutical industry.

While I disagee with the numbers you used, we do both think more control and better laws are needed. I'm sorry to hear about your son, If we all fight for better laws maybe the next person won't be saying what Liversidege did here. I wish you peace.
