Right now in Congress, quietly there sits legislation introduced on February 14, 2006 by Congressman Charles Rangel (NY) that calls for a military draft up to the age of 42. No, I am not making this up. This bill is still sitting in the lap of the Subcommittee on Military Personnel.
Any day now, this war-happy Congress, administration, and many-star-wearing Generals filled with insane, blood-thirsty lust for more genocidal US wars could conceivably, suddenly perceive the need to call up a mega-supply of fresh human sacrifices. Human Resources Problem solved. This nifty Cannon Fodder Bill is ready to go at a moment's notice!
And, should the right opportunity present itself? Let's not kid ourselves. These power-hungry military strategists can - and will - use such measures to staff these wars in, the words of the NeoCons' PNAC, "multiple theaters." (1)
A new 9-11 "Pearl Harbor," in fact, would provide *just* the trick. Maybe it will be a new terrorist group for the set-up? Let's think of something new, something original, something catchy, shall we? Hmmm.... I've got it! Can you say Al Qaeda of... Iran?
Yeah, that's the ticket! Al Qaeda of Iran! It worked on 9-11 (just substitute the word Afghanistran for Iran or Iraq). Most Americans still think that Bin Laden did it, nearly five years later. The rulers of this Empire have gotten away with it for this long, and I betcha anything it will probably work on us again.
Back to 42 year olds being called up for war. I swear I'm not lying. In certain cases, if you are 42, you could be "called up" to haul around 92 to 105 pounds of gear and inhale more than enough Depleted Uranium while you're over there to effectively cook your major organs quite nicely. About a year ago, in groups such as FightTheseWars and Counter-Recruitment, we discussed the need for a short film that would "reach" young people and inform them why they must NOT enlist in the military to go participate in these illegal, amoral wars that are international crimes against humanity. (5)
What to do. What to do? Well, now that you asked? Someone just made this very short film to address this very subject about standing up and just saying NO to fighting in these wars.
There's this great new film clip you've got to see. My mouth's still open from one hour ago when I started my rant after watching this film clip. We'd be hard pressed to find another short film packed with so much truth and powerful impact than this one.
Talk about getting the HELL NO, WE WON'T GO! rhetoric a la 1960's started!

Please join me and Do The Right Thing. And the Left Thing. And the Non-Partisan, Bi-Partisan Thing, too. Lets' work together as a nation to save the lives of our own kids and the children in the Middle East, too. You and I already know that all lives are precious. So let's tell the rest of the world how we feel about this by getting out the word that these wars are based on nothing but lies.
Let's together make all the guys who work in the District of Crime (who keep accepting obscene amounts of monies to keep us in these Wars-Everlasting) go overseas and have to fight these vile, killing wars very much all by themselves.
