On Sept. 23, 2008, five military veterans occupied a 35-foot-high ledge in front of the National Archives Building in Washington, D.C. At the site, they unfolded a 22X8 foot banner. It read: “Defend our Constitution: Arrest Bush and Cheney: War Criminals.” The demonstration was sponsored by the Veterans for Peace, a national organization. One of its members, Tarak Kauff, discussed the reasons for the protest action with this presenter. Also talking about the event was Peace Activist, Max Obuszewski. He had traveled over from Baltimore to give his moral support to the protest. Wall St. waits for blank check from Congress but crisis will last into new presidential term. The markets in New York were anxiously awaiting for their blank check from Congress. A jittery market got rocked as the Dow lost 372 points. Presidential candidates express minor concerns, but skeptics are calling the bailout "Cash for Trash." The crisis will last well into the new president's term with both Obama and even McCain will have to be more interventionist if elected. Ron Blackwell, Chief Economist at the AFL-CIO and Prof. Ellen Frank, Economics University of Massachusetts comment. therealnews.com

On the evening of Sept. 23, 2008, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi gave a talk, in Baltimore, MD, at the Central Pratt Library. It focused on her new book, “Know Your Power.” During the Q&A period, she was confronted about the issue of impeachment. The question was: “Why don’t you initiate the impeachment of President Bush?” Her response to the query was very long winded. She said impeachment proceedings would play into the hands of the Republican Caucus in the House. Speaker Pelosi added: “[President Bush’s] days in the White House are drawing to a close.” The bottom line is that Speaker Pelosi has no intention of putting impeachment on the table.
Yes of course, forget about the integrity of America’s system of laws, forget about the international laws Bush has broken. Forget about the harm that letting Bush get away with violating the Geneva conventions will do to America’s standing as a so called democracy. It doesn’t matter if the world is threatened by the next American military industrial banking regime that attacks other countries preemptively and profits from war. Yes, forget about the Bush regime’s war crimes, the torture rapes of women and children in the many prisons in Iraq. It would be bad for America if Bush were impeached says Pelosi, or would it be worse for Israel?
What could be more important for America and the world than putting the notoriously corrupt mass murderer Bush, and the entire corrupt profit, war, death driven system Bush represents on trial? Impeachment is the least that can be done, a slap on the wrist, he should be prosecuted for mass murder, war crimes, torture, crimes against the earth, and the blatant violation of American's constitutional rights.
