The irony of the Obama presidency may hinge on whether he attacks Syria. He began his presidency prematurely winning the Nobel Peace Prize and could end it being impeached for starting an illegal war without congressional or UN approval – violating both domestic and international law.
Yesterday 163 Members of Congress sent letters to President Obama telling him that under the US Constitution he is required to get congressional approval before beginning a military attack. The letter drafted by Rep. Scott Rigel (R-VA) had 140 signatures, 119 Republicans and 21 Dems. Rep. Barbara Lee also circulated a letter that had 53 signers, that calls on the president to seek congressional approval.

August 30, 2013. A reporter with Israel’s most widely read newspaper has been told by defense establishment officials that a US-led attack on Syria will begin on Saturday and end when Barack Obama meets Vladimir Putin on Wednesday.
British and American military might is now fully in place and prepared for strikes which experts say will take the form of Tomahawk land-attack cruise missiles fired from warships or submarines.
In a related story, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Daniel Shapiro has promised a “strong and serious response,” to Assad’s alleged chemical atrocity last week, despite American officials admitting to the New York Times that there is no “smoking gun” that directly links President Assad to the attack.
U.S. intelligence officials also told the Associated Press that the intelligence proving Assad’s culpability is “no slam dunk,” a far cry from the Obama administration’s rhetoric, which held that Assad’s responsibility was “undeniable.”

World War III: Countdown To Armageddon - U.S. Closes Embassy In Syria And Ayatollah Declares "Kill All Jews, Annihilate Israel"! Update: UK Ambassador Withdrawn From Syria For Talks!
The officials at the time said the deterioration of the situation in the country [Syria] made it impossible for the embassy to continue operations and for the staff to remain. "The government is getting stretched beyond its ability to control the various elements of violence in the country," one senior official said. - CNN. Relations have been strained between the United States and Pakistan, Libya, Syria and Iran in recent months. Iran has recently shot down a US stealth drone and has also been performing drills practicing closing the Strait of Hormuz.
I can’t be sure what is going on in Syria but I will give you odds the countdown to World War III won’t be starting tomorrow.
How can I be sure?

In awarding its 2009 Nobel Peace Prize, Committee members turned truth on its head, saying:
Obama made "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples."
He "created a new climate in international politics. Multinational diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions play."
He envisions "a world without nuclear weapons."
"Democracy and human rights are to be strengthened."
"Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future." "For 108 years, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has sought to stimulate precisely the international policy and those attitudes for which Obama is now the world's leading spokesman."
Peter Chamberlin
(SEE: Kerry: Use of chemical weapons in Syria “a moral obscenity” )
Which is the greater moral obscenity? The fact that more than three-hundred civilians have been killed by chemical weapons, or the undeniable fact that over 100,000 Syrians have been killed by various means (most of them civilians), in a premeditated plan to create civil war in another sovereign nation? (SEE: The Obscenity of Humanitarian Warfare). The American Sec. of State is invoking moral outrage to justify further escalation of our interference in Syrian national affairs, to the point of committing Western troops in an actual physical aggression against Syria and the Syrian people.
If there was a place in American government or international humanitarian institutions for “morality,” or “fairness,” or “justice,” then all of these august bodies would presently be overwhelmed with ongoing investigations of American war crimes and crimes against humanity, instead of vacuously, deceptively, deliberating military strikes upon the people, who dare to resist American aggression. Cruise missile, or other airstrikes to cripple the defenses of the Assad government, can only lead to intensified suffering and death for the civilians of Syria, as secular terrorists battle “Islamist” terrorists for control of whatever is left, this mini-civil war promised to follow within Syria, after Western attacks successfully ignite region-wide civil war.

As he prepares to launch cruise missiles against the sovereign state that poses no threat to the United States, President Barack Obama's administration is spouting leaks of major proportion. (Image)
The Associate Press reports that
"… multiple U.S. officials used the phrase "not a slam dunk" to describe the intelligence picture -- a reference to then-CIA Director George Tenet's insistence in 2002 that U.S. intelligence showing Iraq had weapons of mass destruction was a 'slam dunk' -- intelligence that turned out to be wrong." Associated Press, August 29
President Obama couldn't launch even one cruise missile before multiple U.S. officials began undermining the intelligence report that was to form the basis for confidence in military action against the Syrian government.

All politicians lie. It goes with the territory. Obama honed his skills to a fine art. He's a serial liar. He's a con man. He says one thing. He does another. He's done it throughout his political career.
In 1996, he was elected Illinois' 13th district senator. In 1998 and 2002, he was reelected. He lost his 2000 US House bid.
From 2004 - 2008, he was Illinois' junior senator. On January 4, 2005, he ranked 99th out of 100 senators in seniority. Four years later he was president.
In October 2002, he addressed the impending Iraq war. "I stand before you as someone who is not opposed to war in all circumstances," he said.
"The Civil War was one of the bloodiest in history, and yet it was only through the crucible of the sword, the sacrifice of multitudes, that we could begin to perfect this union and drive the scourge of slavery from our soil."

Peace and stability defeat Obama's agenda. Violence, instability and permanent wars further it. They persist nonstop.
New wars follow earlier ones. Some never end. Afghanistan is America's longest war. It's continued longer than WW I and II combined.
It shows no signs of ending. It could last another decade or longer. Wherever America shows up, mass killing and destruction follow. Occupations are permanent.
America's empire of bases supports them. They're in 150 or more countries. Secret ones add to known numbers. They reflect neocolonialism writ large.
During WW II, Brits complained. They said US forces were "overpaid, overfed, oversexed, and over here." They called them America's "occupation."
It's footprint remains. It's belligerent. US bases are global platforms for war. Americans believe common myths. They think foreign bases further peace.

All wars are based on lies. Claims about Syrian forces using chemical weapons are false. They're malicious.
They're bald-faced lies. They're repeated anyway. John Kerry wrongfully accused Syria of using chemical weapons.
It's "undeniable," he claimed. It's "a moral obscenity." He'll provide evidence, he said. He has none. It's invented. Don't expect him to explain.
Vice president Biden lied, saying:
"There is no doubt who is responsible for this heinous use of chemical weapons, the Syrian regime."
"Chemical weapons have been used. Everyone acknowledges their use."
"No one doubts that innocent men, women and children have been the victims of chemical weapons attacks in Syria."
James Petras
Introduction
Political and economic changes in recent years have opened possibilities for the end of international and national conflicts. Regime changes, pragmatic leaders and the promise of serious negotiations in the Middle East, North Africa, Russia, Southwest Asia, China and elsewhere provided the Obama regime an opportunity to end long standing and costly wars, to access new markets and resources and to reduce domestic deficits and external trade imbalances.
At every opportunity, with precise consistency, the Obama regime rejected fresh overtures from adversaries, choosing instead to rely on a now discredited “double discourse”, of talking peace and engaging in war, of talking trade and increasing sanctions and of talking about ‘greater Asian engagement’ while fomenting economic pacts which exclude the second biggest economy in the world.

Settling things through the barrel of a gun reflects longstanding US policy. Shoot first, ask questions later defines it.
Invented pretexts initiate conflicts. Defending the indefensible repeats with disturbing regularity.
Obama's the latest in a long line warrior presidents. Imperial lawlessness defines his agenda. One war after another rages. No end in sight looms.
War is glorified in the name of peace. It's been that way from inception. Violence is a way of life. Pacifism is considered sissy and unpatriotic.
