MH17 Coverup

November 22nd, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

On July 17, Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 crashed near Donetsk. En route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. Killing all 283 passengers. Plus 15 crew members.

At the time, Washington blamed Donbas self-defense forces. Claiming a Russian-supplied Buk surface-to-air missile fired from territory they controlled.

Moscow blamed Ukraine. The Dutch Safety Board launched an investigation. Issuing a preliminary September 9 report. A final one to come later.

Initially saying MH17 "broke up in the air probably as the result of structural damage caused by a large number of high-energy objects that penetrated the aircraft from outside."

All-Out War in Ukraine: NATO’s ‘Final Offensive’

November 21st, 2014

James Petras

Introductions

There are clear signs that a major war is about to break out in Ukraine: A war actively promoted by the NATO regimes and supported by their allies and clients in Asia (Japan) and the Middle East (Saudi Arabia). The war over Ukraine will essentially run along the lines of a full-scale military offensive against the southeast Donbas region, targeting the breakaway ethnic Ukraine- Russian Peoples Republic of Donetsk and Lugansk, with the intention of deposing the democratically elected government, disarming the popular militias, killing the guerrilla resistance partisans and their mass base, dismantling the popular representative organizations and engaging in ethnic cleansing of millions of bilingual Ukraino-Russian citizens. NATO’s forthcoming military seizure of the Donbas region is a continuation and extension of its original violent putsch in Kiev, which overthrew an elected Ukrainian government in February 2014.

America: The Real Evil Empire

November 21st, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

On March 8, 1983, Ronald Reagan coined the term. He did so addressing the National Association of Evangelicals.

He called communism "the focus of evil in the modern world." Don't "ignore the facts of history and the aggressive impulses of an evil empire…and thereby remove yourself from the struggle between right and wrong and good and evil," he said.

Cold War politics returned. More venomously than earlier. Putin is targeted. He's public enemy No. 1.

WSJ Reports: Bank of North Dakota Outperforms Wall Street

November 21st, 2014

by Ellen Brown

While 49 state treasuries were submerged in red ink after the 2008 financial crash, one state’s bank outperformed all others and actually launched an economy-shifting new industry. So reports the Wall Street Journal this week, discussing the Bank of North Dakota (BND) and its striking success in the midst of a national financial collapse led by the major banks. Chester Dawson begins his November 16th article:

It is more profitable than Goldman Sachs Group Inc., has a better credit rating than J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. and hasn’t seen profit growth drop since 2003. Meet Bank of North Dakota, the U.S.’s lone state-owned bank, which has one branch, no automated teller machines and not a single investment banker.

Keystone XL Pipeline: Down but not Out

November 21st, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

On November 18, Senate Democrats derailed Keystone XL (KXL) pipeline plans. For now.

Republicans controlling next year's 114th Congress vowed to continue fighting for passage. It remains to be seen what follows.

Obama is veto-shy. Twice only so far. Compared to GW Bush's 12. Including pocket vetoes. Clinton's 37. Reagan's 78.

Dwight Eisenhower's 181. Truman's 250. FD Roosevelt's astonishing 635. Overriding presidential vetoes seldom happens.

Throughout US history, presidents vetoed legislation 2,564 times. Overridden 110 times. Around 4% of the time.

Tuesday's Senate roll call fell one vote short of passage - 59 to 41. One additional vote approves construction.

Kiev Plans Full-Scale War

November 21st, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Ukraine is the most serious post-WW II geopolitical crisis. At risk is escalated East/West confrontation. Possible global war.

Obama bears full responsibility. Complicit EU partners share it. America goes all-out to advance its imperium.

Millions of corpses attest to its barbarity. Replacing independent governments with subservient pro-Western stooge ones is longstanding US policy.

Washington-supported Kiev putschists staged the most brazen coup d'etat since Mussolini's 1922 march on Rome.

Ukraine is the epicenter of European fascist reemergence. Hardline rule masquerades as democracy. Elections are farcical when held. Illegitimate by any standard.

Israel: Human Rights Abuser Writ Large

November 21st, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Israeli policy is longstanding. Reflecting anti-Palestinian state terror. Institutionalized racism writ large. Vicious repression.

Brutalizing Muslims for not being Jews. Enforcing militarized occupation harshness. Denying Palestinians rights everyone deserves.

According to Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD) director Jeff Halper:

"…(T)he 'Zionist answer' to the downward cycle of senseless violence in which Jerusalem finds itself" includes:

"house demolitions, mass arrests, revoking the 'residency' of native-born Jerusalemites, closing Palestinian neighborhoods with concrete blocks, arming Israeli Jewish vigilantes and cheap shots at the last person who believes in a two-state solution, Abu Mazen (Abbas)."

Ignored Root Cause of Occupied Palestine Violence

November 20th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Israel and America share full responsibility. Partnering in high crimes against peace. Longstanding. Unspeakable. Viciousness writ large.

Slow-motion genocide. Washington supporting Israel's killing machine. Operating unaccountably.

Murdering Palestinians in cold blood. In one premeditated war after another. Ruthless collective punishment. Horrific abuse. Ongoing daily. Other forms of mistreatment.

Lawlessly blockading Gaza. Violating Al-Aqsa. Islam's third holiest site. Israeli extemists wanting a second Jewish Temple replacing it.

Thousands of Palestinian political prisoners languishing in Israel's gulag. Torture its longstanding policy. Institutionalized racism. Worse than South Africa's apartheid.

Targeted assassinations at its discretion. Unrelenting militarized, brutalizing occupation harshness. For 47 years. Treating Palestinians like subhumans.

US-Led NATO Risks Global War

November 20th, 2014

by Stephen Lendman

Washington operates extrajudicially. Threatening world peace. The world's global outlaw. Russia its moral leader.

Vilified for doing the right thing. For defying America's hegemonic ambitions. Forthrightly. Courageously. Honorably. Responsibly.

Supporting nation-state sovereign independence inviolability. Holding firm against America's rage to dominate.

Especially over Russia. Never, according to Vladimir Putin. Not now. Earlier. Or ever. For sure not with him in charge.

On Tuesday, he spoke at the all-Russia People's Front. Responding to film director Yuri Kara. Asking if America wants to humiliate Russia. "(N)ot so," said Putin. "The United States is not trying to humiliate us. It wants to subdue us, to settle its own problems at our expense."

Dramatic Correlation Shown Between GMOs And 22 Diseases

November 19th, 2014

By Kevin Zeese and Margaret Flowers

As Use Of GMO’s Crops Glyphosate Rise So Do Critical Diseases

There is a growing movement for labeling of GMO crops, and many would go further and ban GMOs completely. Currently there is a close vote in Oregon on a GMO labeling initiative, with advocates for labeling 0.3% behind and raising money to check ballots (we urge your support). Those who profit from GMOs spent $20 million to prevent labeling in Oregon. Several states in the Northeast have put in place laws that will require labeling.
