The UN is more an appendage of US foreign policy than a world body upholding its charter principles - far from it.
Former Jordanian UN envoy Prince Zeid bin Ra’ad Zeid al-Hussein is a member of its royal family, the nation hostile to democracy, notorious for human rights abuses, notably lack of free expression, political imprisonments and use of torture.
In September 2014, he succeeded US imperial tool Navi Pillay as UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, a dismal choice - serving his imperial master like his predecessor since taking office.
On August 8, he disgracefully accused Venezuelan security forces of street violence - orchestrated by Washington, not them, part of a diabolical CIA plot to replace Bolivarian social democracy with fascist tyranny.
He falsely claimed “widespread and systematic use of excessive force and arbitrary detentions against demonstrators in Venezuela,” along with “patterns of other human rights violations, including violent house raids, torture and ill-treatment of those detained in connection with the protests.”
Interviews were conducted with anti-Bolivarian elements, wanting the Maduro government toppled. So-called “witnesses” irresponsibly blamed security forces for doing their job, using crowd control methods to quell violence, arresting and detaining street thugs - what all just societies do to protect their citizens.
Hussein saying “responsibility for the human rights violations we are recording lies at the highest levels of government” is a bald-faced lie.
Washington in cahoots with Venezuelan fascists turned streets into battlegrounds. Instead of blaming perpetrators, Hussein held defenders of law and order responsible along with Maduro’s government.
Anti-Bolivarian dark forces in Washington and Caracas bear full responsibility for months of street violence, resulting in scores of deaths and hundreds of injuries.
It won’t end as long as the Trump administration maintains pressure for regime change. The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights supporting perpetrators and slamming defenders defiles the office he holds and mandate he’s sworn to uphold.
