With around 2.4 million incarcerated, America has by far the world's largest prison system. Two-thirds in it are Black or Latino.
Most held are non-violent. Over half are for drug related charges. Around 75% are Blacks or Latinos. On all charges, many are persecuted political prisoners.
In her book titled, "The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness," Michelle Alexander called today's Jim Crow a modern-day elitist-designed racial caste system. Believing poor Blacks (and Latinos) are dangerous and economically superfluous, America's gulag became an instrument of social control. According to Alexander:

Day 62 and counting. Adnan's hunger strike continues. On February 15, Israel let his wife Randa see him for the second time.
She said "(h)is health has drastically deteriorated from the last time I saw him" a week ago. "I expect the worst. He insists on continuing with the hunger strike." He wants to live but will die for justice.

A year has passed since the great Egyptian day, January 25th, 2011 when a mass of millions of Egyptians took to the streets in a huge protest. A protest that turned into 18 days of a peaceful pacifist revolution, starting with a demo and ending with the unity of the Egyptians demanding one thing, Mubarak has to go. They insisted on the removal of Mubarak and his gang and they were united, so they won.
