The Andrew Wakefield Smear Campaign and the Too-Big-To-Fail, Too-Big-To-Criticize Vaccine Industry

Recently the mainstream media in the US has been playing along with a vicious British smear campaign against Dr. Andrew Wakefield (author of Callous Disregard, a history of the smear campaign) concerning a 13 year-old paper that he co-authored (with a number of other scientists [who have not been similarly targeted]) that showed a serious and strong connection between the live virus "vaccine" MMR and inflammatory colitis and autistic spectrum disorder.
Even NPR - including Ira Flatow's "Science Friday" program - has stooped so low as to feature several programs/reports (that I accidentally happened to hear) vilifying Wakefield without allowing him to defend himself!! I suspect that the same one-sided attacks have been on the major networks and FOXNews as well.
What happened on NPR was not much different from what regularly happens on Fox News' with their unfair, unbalanced and one-sided attack tactics that NPR should never be a part of. Shame on them! MPR’s participation in this one-sided smear should have embarrassed the producers and everybody else that participated. NPR needs to apologize and rectify the situation. Dr Wakefield must be given sufficient airtime (how about an hour interview program?) to present his side of the story.
BigPharma's powerful too-big-to-criticize vaccine divisions have had their profit potential threatened and we all know that large corporations will generally stop at nothing to eliminate such threats and discredit or destroy whistle-blowers such as Dr Wakefield.
Powerful interests unknown, certainly connected to BigPharma's vaccine industries, have obviously 1) hired a shady, attack-dog reporter named Brian Deer (whose motivations to be so vicious on this issue are as yet unknown) to mount a relentless public smear campaign against Wakefield, 2) convinced the otherwise respected medical journal The Lancet to renounce having published Wakefield's article and 3) gone so far as to convince the British medical licensing bureau to take away Wakefield's license to practice medicine.
The out-numbered and unfairly vilified Wakefield has, however, found a supportive home in the US (hence the current ramped-up US media attack campaign), where he is rightfully regarded as a courageous, altruistic hero by the smart, aroused and mad-as-hell parents of the tens of thousands of child victims of vaccines.
Wakefield has refused to renounce the ground-breaking and unbiased findings of his research and he has continued to bravely speak truth to power concerning 1) the dangers of live-virus innoculations, 2) the toxic adjuvants that are in all innoculations and 3) the highly neurotoxic "preservative" mercury (Eli Lilly's thimerosal) that was in most non-live-virus pediatric vaccines during the huge, catastrophic spike in autism during the 1990s. (It needs to be pointed out that in recent years - since the connection to autism was documented - mercury has been quietly withdrawn from most vaccines, except for the flu shots, which are still recommended to infants down to the age of 6 months!
In the interest of truth, fairness and democratic ideals, here is a link to a number of rebuttals from Dr Andrew Wakefield re: the fabricated accusations against him. Fair-minded individuals need to hear both sides of this important story.
