People Begin Living Without Electricity and Water in California

January 31st, 2011

george4title

I couldn't find statistics for local utility shut offs in my area, but I knew we would start to see more and more of this.

Houses everywhere are going vacant. People don't say goodbye, they don't leave a number, they just disappear. With their disappearance we add another vacant house to the street. But families living in housing without utilities is a new sight for me to behold. I spoke recently with a rep from So Cal Edison who, full time contacts residence who have had their electricity turned off due to non payment. She has a negotiator sent in and they work on a reduced payment. It's amazing to me, that now, it is becoming acceptable in California to camp out in your home.

People are losing their homes, losing their cars and losing their dignity. How are we going to afford kids clothes and school supplies for the coming year? How can we expect families to pay for all these additional costs when the economy is in the shape it in. I ask myself this everyday.

Requests for help paying utility bills surge upward

Gilad Atzmon Discusses American Foreign Policy on Press TV

January 30th, 2011

from Gilad Atzmon

The American foreign policy is at cross-roads. For decades, Washington has advertised equality and human rights in international circles. But, at times, the U.S. has contradicted its own alleged values, philosophy and democratic approach.

Some argue that America's self-interest supersedes the spread of democracy worldwide. However, there are those who say Washington's approach serves neither the national interest of Americans, nor does it promote equality and democracy.

So, the question arises: who then benefits from current American policies?

Press TV's U.S. Desk discussed the issue with Gilad Atzmon who is a political activist, musician and author in London.

from: Bill Hughes

On Saturday, January 29, 2011, at noon, an “emergency demonstration” was staged in front of the Egyptian Embassy, in Washington, D.C. It was organized by the ANSWER Coalition and a host of other activist groups in the area. According to the ANSWER Coalition’s press release, the purpose of the rally was to “show solidarity with the Egyptian people” in their struggle to overthrow the “dictatorship of Hosni Mubarak,” who has received for decades “$2 billion a year” in U.S. aid to prop up his “corrupt regime.” This video features Brian Becker, National Coordinator of the ANSWER Coalition. Foreclosing of America

January 29th, 2011

RTAmerica

During President Obama's State of the Union speech, he took a jab at big oil, but stayed away another big recipient of government breaks, Wall Street. While the bailed out banks hand out millions of dollars in executive bonuses, Americans are asking where their bailout is. RT's Ramon Galindo shows us that the foreclosing of America keeps getting worse.

London failing in the Jewish Century

Going bankrupt from genocidal wars, with betting shops and alcohol everywhere, and more. I am Ad-libbing with two cameras attached to me - one facing forward - and the other facing me. We see a disappearing London - and very little about it that is English. And not wishing to be a hypocrite I confess in advance that I have indulged in gambling and drinking in the past. The device used to make this video is called a snorricam - many tutorials on youtube (or Google) on how to make one - or you can try: http://digitalprism.co.uk/

'No Evidence' Case? Alleged gunrunner to be tried in September

America has merchants of death too, selling weapons of war to both sides of any conflict. This is about the new world order using their big stick America, to bully Russia. They have arrested and transported a Russian citizen into the United States, to try him by American laws and imprison him possibly for the rest of his life. There is an old saying: Don't throw stones if you live in a glass house. Russia is a powerful nation, perhaps the most powerful on earth. The tiny clique that controls America is playing a dangerous game.

'US Wars to Continue Until its Economy Busts'

January 22nd, 2011

PressTV

Chris Hedges - American wars will continue until the country's giant corporations, which pay the politicians in Washington's corridors of power, become financially unsustainable, says senior fellow at the Nation Institute, Chris Hedges. Hedges told Press TV's U.S. Desk in a Wednesday interview that the economy will fail "because we're paying for it through debt, through borrowing." "Well the fact is like that ... like most wars this is the business. Unlike previous wars we have privatized many of the functions that the traditional military used to do and whether the wars go badly, we're certainly losing the war in Afghanistan," he pointed out. "And I think it ultimately has been covered in the New York Times that [the Afghan] war is also unwinnable. It doesn't really matter. There are huge corporations whose profits [have] swollen four by four," Hedges said. "The continuation of these conflicts is good for their bottom-line. That's why we're seeing very little reticence on the part of the government which knows how drastic the situation is in Afghanistan to pull back because the people who hold the ultimate power in the United States, which are corporations want these wars to continue," he went on to say. http://www.presstv.ir/usdetail/160995.html
