Why the Democratic Party Will Die Unless a House Democrat Introduces a Resolution to Impeach President Obama

July 29th, 2014

Eric Zuesse

The only individuals who possess the Constitutional power to introduce a bill of impeachment against the President are the members of the U.S. House of Representatives. Republicans there have said that they won't do it, and the reason is that they won't impeach him for doing things that George W. Bush did -- and that's all they'd be able to prove against him. So: that's understandable -- they don't want to look like fools, especially heading into the 2014 elections. But what about House Democrats? So far, they've not done it because the Party base, the people who elected them, think it would be disloyal. Boy, are they wrong! Democrats impeaching and removing Obama is, to the contrary, the only way to salvage the Democratic Party.

The Emperor’s Rage: Let Chaos Envelop the World!

July 28th, 2014

James Petras

Introduction

Chaos reigns and spreads as enraged leaders in the US, Europe and their clients and allies pursue genocidal wars.

Mercenary wars in Syria; Israel’s terror bombing on Gaza; proxy wars in the Ukraine, Pakistan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Somalia.

Tens of millions of refugees flee scenes of total destruction. Nothing is sacred. There are no sanctuaries. Homes, schools, hospitals and entire families are targeted for destruction.

Chaos by Design

At the center of chaos, the wild-eyed President Obama strikes blindly, oblivious of the consequences, willing to risk a financial debacle or a nuclear war. He enforces sanctions against Iran; imposes sanctions on Russia; sets up missile bases five launch minutes from Moscow; sends killer drones against Pakistan, Yemen and Afghanistan; arms mercenaries in Syria; trains and equips Kurds in Iraq and pays for Israel’s savagery against Gaza.

U.S. ‘News’ Media Propagandize for War Against Russia

July 28th, 2014

Eric Zuesse

Typical is TIME Magazine, which headlined on 24 July 2014, "In Russia, Crime Without Punishment.”

The sub-head, from Simon Shuster, "reporting" for the Russia-hating regime of Barack Obama, in the Russia-hating Ukrainian capital Kiev, was the even-more-slanted, propagandistic: "Vladimir Putin backs the rebels suspected of shooting down Malaysia Airlines Flight 17. Why each new crisis makes him stronger." Then, to stir the fear in its gulls even more, TIME's propaganda (though they call this sort of thing "news reporting") opened: "The scene was almost too horrible to take in, and yet in a world of bristling threats no scene has been more revealing: under the baking July sun of eastern Ukraine, hundreds of bodies lay rotting as pro-Russian militiamen, some of them apparently drunk, brandished their weapons to keep European observers away." The “Crime Without Punishment” was here alleged to have been such men’s shooting down of the Malaysian jet.

The Empire Economy Does Not Serve The Economy Or People. As US Empire fades, we must choose our path forward

July 27th, 2014

By Kevin Zeese and Margaret Flowers

World history is filled with empires, e.g. the Roman and Byzantine empires, the European colonial empires, various ancient Iranian empires, the Arab Caliphate and Ottoman Empire, the Soviet Union to name a few. These historic empires have one thing in common: they no longer exist. As the lifecycle of empire wanes, rather than being a benefit to the home country, sustaining empire becomes more expensive than it is worth.

While the US economy and military remain the largest in the world, the economy is faltering and losing its vitality. Chalmers Johnson, a CIA analyst who became a critic of the agency and author of a series on US Empire, writes:

“Thirty-five years from now, America's official century of being top dog (1945-2045) will have come to an end; its time may, in fact, be running out right now. We are likely to begin to look ever more like a giant version of England at the end of its imperial run, as we come face-to-face with, if not necessarily to terms with, our aging infrastructure, declining international clout, and sagging economy.”

The Obama Regime's Awesome Hypocrisy

July 27th, 2014

Eric Zuesse

Voice of America headlined on July 26th, "US Defense Department Warns of Arms to Eastern Ukraine," and quoted General Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, as asserting:

"My fear is actually, you know if I have a fear about this it's that Putin may actually light a fire that he loses control of. ... In other words, you know I; these ethnic enclaves, there's a rising tide of nationalism and nationalism can be a very dangerous instinct and impulse. There's a rising tide of nationalism in Europe right now that has been created by, in many ways, by these Russian activities that I find to be quite dangerous."

Obama's Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is accusing Russia of stirring up the "rising tide of nationalism in Europe."

World must call the spade a spade: Israel is a Nazi state

July 27th, 2014

By Khalid Amayreh

By now, it is crystal clear that the Judeo-Nazi state of Israel has committed a real holocaust in the Gaza Strip. The shocking scenes of incinerated children and women are indescribable as the odor of death is wafting out everywhere. The magnitude of death and destruction simply defies linguistic description. It is stronger than all the words in the world.

The ongoing holocaust is by no means an aberration or anomaly as far as the Zionist Jewish mindset is concerned.

Israeli officials and ordinary Jews are quite gleeful and boastful about the murder of civilians. (Up to 80% of the Palestinians massacred so far are children and other innocent civilians).

Hence, there is no escape reaching the conclusion that the genocidal aggression is an accurate expression and reflection of the Zionist-Jewish mindset, a nefarious mindset by every imagined standard, which is also unmatched in its evilness and barbarianism in the annals of human history.

You Can’t Taper a Ponzi Scheme: Time to Reboot

July 27th, 2014

by Ellen Brown

One thing to be said for the women now heading the Federal Reserve and the IMF: compared to some of their predecessors, they are refreshingly honest. The Wall Street Journal reported on July 2nd:

Two of the world’s most powerful women of finance sat down for a lengthy discussion Wednesday on the future of monetary policy in a post-crisis world: U.S. Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen and International Monetary Fund Managing Director Christine Lagarde. Before a veritable who’s-who in international economics packing the IMF’s largest conference hall, the two covered all the hottest topics in debate among the world’s central bankers, financiers and economists.

Gaza, Israel and 'Human Shields'

July 26th, 2014

By Sarah Gillespie

What does it mean to use human shields? Employed by the Germans and Japanese in the second word war, the tactic is premised on an underlying trust in your enemy's humanity. It appeals to the compassion and mercy of the combatant that they not slaughter the innocent in order to avenge their target. The 'shield' is not the human bodies surrounding the 'guilty' party, the shield is the clemency that mankind instinctively affords the innocent. The shield evaporates only when confronted by an enemy who is not merely a fellow solder locked in a power battle, but a psychopath unconcerned with the pain of others. Such is the case with the Hamas. They are faced with an enemy who is willing to obliterate pregnant women, babies, kids, handicapped people, schools and crowded hospitals in order to smash their target. The Israelis repeatedly demonstrate a pathological disregard for any life that is not a Jewish life, and it is for this reason alone, that the Hamas are utterly incapable of ever using 'human shields.'

Obama's Ukrainian Ploy Collapses; Ukraine Now Seeks Direct U.S. Bailout

July 26th, 2014

Eric Zuesse

The Ukrainian leadership has resigned, because of their unwillingness to impose the IMF's terms, which would impoverish the population within months. That impoverishment would be extracted from the Ukrainian public in order to repay the IMF's loans, which had been skimmed off by Ukraine’s oligarch billionaires into secret bank accounts in Switzerland and other tax-havens.

Two of the four parties in Ukraine's ruling coalition have bolted, refusing those IMF terms on loan-repayment; and, so, on July 24th, Ukraine's Prime Minister, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, who had been appointed by Obama's agent Victoria Nuland, tendered his resignation, and he announced: “The fact is that today you failed to vote for the laws, and I have nothing (with which) to pay wages of policemen, doctors, teachers; nothing to buy a rifle with, nothing to fuel an armored personnel carrier with. Today you failed to take a decision to fill the gas storages to allow us to live through the winter, to at last free ourselves from dependence on Russian gas.”

Ukraine - MH17 like Shoot Down Predicted a Month Ago plus Russian Defense Chief in English

July 25th, 2014

Michael Collins
elena

A Ukrainian resistance member provided a chilling prediction of the recent shoot down of Malaysian Air MH17. A YouTube video posted on June 18, 2014 by Anti-Maidan tells the story. Resistance militia soldier Elena from Slavyansk describes the attacks on her city of 100,000 plus by the Ukraine army and the death and suffering those attacks caused. Then, she warns of a frightening tactic used by the Ukraine air force. Here's the text from Militia Soldier - Elena, from Slavyansk English Subs, Published on June 18, 2014, Anti-Maidan

Terrible things are happening. For example, an incident that happened recently. A passenger plane was flying by. A Ukrainian attack jet aircraft hid behind it.

Then he lowered his altitude a bit and dropped bombs on [the] residential sector of Semenovka town. Then he regained altitude and hit behind the passenger plane. Then he left.

They wanted to provoke the militia to shoot down the passenger plane. There would have been a global catastrophe. Civilians would have died. Then they would say terrorists here did it. There are no terrorists here. There are regular civilians here that came to the defense of their city.

Elena is not part of the propaganda war. She's not making arguments for this or that interpretation of the MH17 tragedy. She is simply describing a reckless air combat tactic used by Ukraine's military a month before the airliner was shot from the sky.

This video raises a very interesting question. Were commercial flights routed over Ukraine to provide Ukraine's air force with cover in order to attack military and civilian targets?
