"This is much worse than apartheid. Israeli measures, the brutality, make apartheid look like a picnic." In the third ATLANTIC EXCHANGE series, Senator George Mitchell, former U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East, is featured in the segment of Is Peace Possible?, a multimedia presentation and special report on resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. When the “A” word comes up at around the 50-minute mark, Mr. Mitchell expresses his disapproval of using “complicated words” and “inflammatory words and phrases that create aggravation and hostility”. Not facing the true facts on the ground creates aggravation and increases hostility and although Apartheid is complex, the word itself is not.

Mostafa Tamimi from Nabi Saleh, Bahjat Zaalan and his son Ramdan from Gaza died on my fiftieth birthday and just a few days after Newt Gingrich declared them an invented people. They were murdered by the Israeli terrorist organization, the IDF, an organization that is supported and funded by the US. One Israeli terrorist shot the invented Tamimi in the head with a tear gas canister, and another Israeli terrorist fired a rocket that murdered the invented Zaalan and his boy Ramadan. Both terrorists were educated and trained by Israel, and armed by the US. The Israeli terrorists are not invented but quite real, and they are safe, protected by the apartheid regime that trained and sent them on their missions, and the Israeli court system will make sure that they are never brought to justice. This is how Israel’s well-oiled ethnic cleansing machine operates.
Brigadier General Vahidi says 'Zionist regime is completely isolated,' threatens deadly strikes from Iran, should Israel attack. Iran's defense minister said Sunday that any Israeli strike on Iran would constitute suicide, the official news agency IRNA reported. “The Zionist regime is completely isolated and under no circumstances it can attack Iran unless she wants to commit a suicide," IRNA quoted Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi as saying. "It is due to the fact that it will receive deadly strikes from Iran which will make it unstable."

Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R-Minn.), a member of the House Intelligence Committee, took a hard line over the possibility of Iran building its own nuclear weapon, saying that all options should be open to the United States and other Western powers, including military action. "I would have every alternative and option on the table, because Iran must never have a nuclear weapon," Bachmann said during an appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press."

Displacement and survival are two branches of a same tree. Following the Second World War, many Jewish survivors of forced labor camps, concentration camps and death marches sought to rebuild their lives far from the countries of their birth. Those who found shelter in the Displaced Persons (DP) camps, called She’erit ha-Pletah in Hebrew (meaning 'surviving remnants'), eventually began anew in North and South America, in Western Europe, in what is now Israel. Today in the latter country Palestinians are the victims of forced displacement at an alarming rate.

Ask yourself: Why aren't Americans shown these honest facts on any of the over 1,700 major media outlets? and WHAT OTHER INFO IS BEING WITHELD? Rachel Corrie: 'a true hero' was killed by the state of Israel, and by its brutal regime that practises not only 'mass punishment' but also 'ethnic cleansing'. The concepts of 'the Jew' and 'the Jewish mindset' are abstractions, emblematic of certain personality traits seen as a whole and in the real world, any given person is much more than can be summed up by a cluster of abstract personality traits. However, we already know that around 100% of Israeli Jews are in favor of stealing the land from underneath the Palestinians and that around 94% of them also support killing them off as well.

In a provocative move, the US Congress has blocked nearly $200 million of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, intended for food, health care and development initiatives. Palestinian Authority spokesman Ghassan Khatib condemned the decision, as “unjustified.” He told Britain’s Independent newspaper, which first broke the news on Saturday, “These are mainly humanitarian and development projects, it is another kind of collective punishment which is going to harm the needs of the public without making any positive contribution.”

Will economic grievances bring down the government of Binyamin Netanyahu? On Saturday, more than 250,000 Israelis took to the streets in protest over the rising cost of living in the country and the growing social divide it is creating. This social movement of people demanding their share of Israel's new economic prosperity is posing an increasingly powerful challenge to Binyamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, and his coalition.

Dimitris Plionis, one of the Greek spokesmen for the flotilla, responds here to the questions of Silvia Cattori.

Obama's administration has pursued a multi-track effort to prevent Americans from participating in the flotilla. Despite the campaign hoopla, it was never in the cards for Barack Obama to be a transformational leader, an FDR (Franklin Delano Roosevelt) or even an LBJ (Lyndon Baines Johnson). The bold new programmes that they introduced to help transform America into a more just and broadly prosperous land were not his style, as should have been clear from a 2006 interview in The Nation magazine conducted by David Sirota. Still, it did seem possible Obama might stumble into being a bit of a JFK, someone whose skillful, inspiring rhetoric raised people's expectations and aspirations, leading others to go out and make history far beyond the bounds of what he himself dared to imagine. This was certainly the impact Kennedy had on civil rights, which helped set the tone for entire decade of the 1960s.

It is the kind of film you can’t shake off. It evokes the cataclysmic trauma and despair, the heavy grief of all those stolen years.
The US could withdraw funding from the United Nations if its members decide to recognise and independent Palestinian state, a close ally of President Barack Obama has warned.
