Private group told review under way since work may 'contradict' president. The Internal Revenue Service has delayed approval of tax-exempt status for a private organization and is reviewing its educational work, telling a lawyer for the foundation that it must be examined by Washington because its activities may "contradict the administration's public policies." The allegation is contained in a federal lawsuit filed in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania by Z STREET, a Merion Station, Pa., group that educates on the statehood and status of Israel. "Not only is it patently un-American but it is also a clear violation of the First Amendment for a government agency to penalize an organization because of its political position on Israel or anything else," said Z STREET president Lori Lowenthal Marcus, a former First Amendment lawyer.

You want to know who I am? First, I'll tell you who I was. I joined the Marines when I was 18, went to Vietnam when I was 19, was an 0331 machine gunner, survived a tour of duty in heat and humidity in the mountains of northern South Vietnam near the DMZ. My rear base, the Rockpile, was the most remote base in Vietnam at that time, or so we were told. I survived that war and when I got home I used the GI Bill to get into the Boston Architectural Center, a night school of Architecture. I worked days a few years as a construction laborer and then as an office boy in an architectural office. I got married, was accepted to the University of Oregon and got my BA in architecture in '77, worked, moved a few times (due to recessions), had two beautiful daughters, raised my family, etc.

Robert Herz was forced to resign from his job as as chairman of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) because he insisted that the banks assign a fair value to their assets. That's not what you'll read in the papers, but it's true just the same. Herz was a major proponent of mark-to-market accounting, a simple means of determining the value of a bond or security by comparing the price of similar assets sold at market. In other words, Herz is a defender of universally-accepted accounting principles, which is why he was terminated, er, I mean, resigned. According to the Wall Street Journal:
United States has decided to provide the Israeli occupation with large quantities of fuel for military purposes, which include fuel for war aircrafts and helicopters, along with large quantities of fuel for tanks and militant vehicles as bearers of soldiers and others.

I was recently rereading Machiavelli and he said, when you acquire lands where the prince is unpopular you come as a redeemer. When you acquire lands where the price is popular you extinguish his bloodline. These things are the products of the hands behind the curtains and the powers behind the throne. Now to the hands behind the curtains and the powers behind the throne George W. Bush was a very successful President. He cut taxes for the rich and created wars of conquest out of whole cloth so that the rich could become even richer and on his way out the door he tanked the economy and poured free money down from heaven on the banks. George W. Bush left office despised and reviled by the public. Dick Cheney was actually less popular in the public’s mind than Lee Harvey Oswald but only because there was more question of Oswald’s guilt.
