Top China dissident goes on trial

The trial of a leading Chinese dissident accused of trying to "subvert the power of the state" has ended after lasting just two hours. Liu Xiaobo, a 53-year-old academic, who was previously jailed over the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests, has been charged with "inciting subversion of state power" for co-authoring a report appealing for political liberalisation.
